The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband-Chapter 324: The hunt begins
Chapter 324: The hunt begins
Abrielle had fallen from the glory of the flawless rich heiress and princess. She had lost a lot of weight, her body almost unrecognizable with the number of marks.
Her eyes were dull with large dark circles. Her hair was a lost cost. A sigh left her lips as she took a while to check her reflection. She glanced away and then walked towards the bath corner to wash up. Several handmaids were attending to the slaves, giving them an out-of-the-world experience. Washing their hair and helping them clean up generally.
It felt like when you stuff your chicken before killing them. Abrielle sat on an empty stool, and a handmaid started to attend to her, starting with her hair. The handmaids didn’t say a thing to any of the girls.
The other girls were busy chatting about random stuff. They didn’t seem scared that they were about to do something suicidal. Most of them had already accepted the possibility of the worst happening.
She closed her eyes and tried to enjoy the moment. It took a long while, but eventually, her hair was detangled and properly washed before she could take a proper bath. After the handmaid was done, Abrielle got up and entered the warm spring.
A purr left her lips as she slowly ended the pool. The warm water soothed her skin, and she could feel some of the bruises healing; it wasn’t surprising that the spring had healing qualities.
"I see you are enjoying the pool. This is the best part of Culling." Heather moaned as she slowly sank into the water. Becky’s eyes were closed as she enjoyed the water trying to forget all the bad parts. Her lips parted, "don’t stay in for too long. It doesn’t really heal you, just helps a bit, and staying long might give you burns." Becky warned.
Abrielle nodded; she closed her eyes, trying to run the plan in her head again. An image flashed in her head causing her eyes to pop open. "Please give me a break." She groaned; she could not even enjoy this moment without her mind trailing to Cedric, especially at the time he was drugged.
They did a lot of things that night. Her cheeks went red; why was she thinking of that now of all times? She had to keep her head straight in the task ahead and not think about a particular annoying villain she was married to for almost half a year.
What was wrong with her? He was stuck in her mind. That horrible Villain was still haunting her till now. It did not matter, he was her past. A past she wanted to forget
After a long soak then they were separated into several groups and taken to different rooms to get dressed up. Handmaids followed them to keep an eye on them.
Abrielle got separated from Abigail; the group was made up of 5 girls, including Betty and Becky. They were taken to what seemed like a bedroom with a large bed, a set table with food on it and several dresses round-up for them to choose from.
"You can eat whatever you want, the bed is free to use. Lunch will be sent later." The handmaid announced, then took a seat by the door.
"Are we just going to stay here?" Becky asked; never in her life had she seen so much luxury before.
"Enjoy being stuffed like a chicken before being butchered," Becky said, walking up to the table to eat. She was famished. They were all wearing clean robes, the fabric was very comfortable on the skin
It’s been weeks since any of them had clean clothes. Abrielle didn’t make any comment and walked straight to the table to eat. "So this is the good side of culling. We get pampered before they haunt us." A random girl mentioned. All the five girls decided to eat in their robes.
"Yeah, exactly," Becky answered; she was the most experienced here and the only one that has experienced culling.
"What was your first culling like?" Abrielle asked; they had to be careful what they spoke about because of the handmaid that was spying on them. Becky was eating a pastry she held in her hands. Her mind travelled back to think about the first culling.
"It was terrifying, I thought they would catch me. I even got injured. A piece of advice, don’t eat too much that you can’t run because of a heavy stomach and try to be quiet. Make sure you don’t leave footprints, too." Becky advised her eyes were hollow like she was made to revisit a bad memory.

The sun was on the horizon, evening was here and the girls had enjoyed a luxury treatment for almost a day. They were all led out of the room; Abrielle spotted Abigail, who was with Heather, waving back at her.
Everyone was lined up waiting in front of the maze; the hunters were already there, seated on fancy chairs, enjoying tea and cake. Abrielle joined the line.
Jocelyn and Penny stood opposite the crowd, waiting for all the girls to line up; once they were all accounted for, Jocelyn started.
"I know you might have already heard about the culling. The rules are simple: don’t get caught until you hear the horn. Don’t try to escape to the forest; the bracelet you have on all has tracking magic on it." Jocelyn mentioned. Abrielle’s eyes narrowed,
"We didn’t have any tracking magic last year." She heard some girls whisper Among themselves. Why did the rules change today? frёewebηovel.cѳm
"Alright, girls, once the horn goes on, you have half a candle stick to run and hide. That is 30 minutes, no one would chase after you until the second horn. Then the game starts, the hunter is free to do whatever he wishes with the prey." Penny added. Simply put the hunter can decide to rape their prey, beat them etc once they have caught you while the haunt is ongoing
Abrielle’s fingers curled into fists. They were all dressed in long, heavy gowns and heels, making it hard for them to run. Although the first thing everyone would do is to get rid of heels. Hide them so as not to get traced
"I don’t think there is any other thing left to say," Jocelyn mentioned.
She glanced at Penny who nodded. Penny raised her right hand. "Good luck my fine ladies." She chimed then the horn went off. The hunt started, but who were the ones to be haunted?
