The Omega Is Pregnant-Chapter 109
During dinner with Chairman Kang Hak-jung, Tae-seo talked about his trip to the seaside.
“I could hear the sound of the waves really well.”
He had gone to meet him to show that he returned safely—so it wouldn’t seem like a concern that he had traveled while being heavily pregnant. Tae-seo’s parents were overseas on a business trip, and Kang Se-heon’s parents said they were busy with what was happening tomorrow.
“Next time, let’s go together with Grandpa.”
“Yes, let’s do that.”
Chairman Kang Hak-jung placed a side dish on top of Tae-seo’s rice.
“Are you all ready to meet Blessing?”
“The room is already all set up, and I’ve been going to the hospital regularly.”
Everything was prepared well. The room was filled with baby products he had collected from the department store and other nearby shopping malls, and whatever was missing, Kang Se-heon personally went out and bought.
A crib, a reflux-prevention cushion, hand towels, diapers, a rattle, swaddle blankets, even a stroller—so much that it wouldn’t feel lacking even if the baby got up and started toddling around right away.
As Tae-seo nodded and thought of the room, Kang Se-heon spoke.
He could feel Kang Se-heon’s gaze slowly sweeping over him. At that look, Tae-seo closed his eyes like it tickled. When he looked at him like that, he couldn’t help but smile.
“You’re not seriously mistaking me for Blessing, are you? I’m Yoon Tae-seo, Mr. Kang Se-heon.”
“It’s because you’re Yoon Tae-seo that I’m even more worried—you wouldn’t understand.”
Kang Se-heon let out a deep sigh, genuinely worried that he might do something reckless. It was because he couldn’t go with him to the hospital tomorrow. Tae-seo’s parents weren’t in Korea, and Kang Se-heon couldn’t cancel the appointment he had scheduled. So, Tae-seo joked playfully.
“If you’re that worried, should I go with Grandpa?”
Chairman Kang Hak-jung, who had been sitting quietly, nodded as if it were a good idea.
“That sounds good. I’ll call you after the board meeting ends. It probably won’t take long.”
“In that case, I could go too.”
The whole reason Kang Se-heon couldn’t go to the obstetrics clinic with Tae-seo was because of the board meeting. So why could the chairman go, but not him?
“I can step out in the middle. You have to stay until the end. It’s Jin-han who’s becoming vice president—you should be there to witness it, don’t you think?”
With only correct words coming out of Chairman Kang Hak-jung’s mouth, Kang Se-heon pressed his lips tight to stop himself from replying.
That was the reason he was busy tomorrow. The vice president seat at KH Group, which had remained vacant until now, was finally being filled. It had supposedly been discussed a few times before, but back then, it wasn’t easy because of the presence of his second son, Kang Soo-hak, and Han Mi-sun. Now that both were gone, this was the perfect time.
In this situation, the board meeting couldn’t be postponed, and Tae-seo had no intention of pushing back his hospital appointment either. They had just come back from the trip yesterday, and he wanted to check if Blessing was doing okay.
“I can go by myself.”
Tae-seo gave a confident smile, as if to say there was nothing to worry about.м
****
After getting a message from Grandpa’s secretary saying the board meeting was running late, Tae-seo came to the hospital alone. He knew the way so well now that it felt like he could get there with his eyes closed.
There was still time left before his appointment, so he sat in the waiting room and sent a reply letting them know he arrived safely—when someone called out to him.
“Tae-seo.”
When he turned around, a familiar face was approaching. It was Jin Gyu-min, whom he hadn’t seen much lately because he only ever came to the obstetrics clinic.
“Hello.”
“It’s been a while.”
Responding to Jin Gyu-min’s warm greeting, Tae-seo smiled back. He owed Jin Gyu-min a lot. He was the one who had let him know he was pregnant during a health checkup, and also helped when he collapsed.
“How have you been?”
“Good.”
“Here, drink this. Your due date is coming up, right?”
Jin Gyu-min handed over a disposable cup as he spoke. Tae-seo accepted it for now, but not knowing what it was, he peered into the small hole at the top. Did he buy this in advance, thinking he might run into him?
“Yes. Two weeks left.”
“Wow, that’s really soon.”
Jin Gyu-min looked at Tae-seo’s face again, almost in wonder.
“It’s kind of amazing, you know? That someone this young is going to be a dad.”
Of course, compared to Jin Gyu-min, he was younger, but he was still an adult. If he weren’t pregnant, this would be the age where, after graduating college, he’d be deciding his career and sending out résumés.
“Don’t take it the wrong way. I meant it’s enviable... I wonder when I’ll get to hold a baby that looks like me.”
“When Blessing is born, you might feel that way even more.”
“Wow, I didn’t expect that kind of answer. Isn’t this where you’re supposed to say something comforting? Like, ‘You’ll meet someone good and have a baby,’ or something?”
Well, that was vague anyway, and if things went well, he could congratulate him then—so that’s why.
He couldn’t see what was inside the cup after all, so he decided to judge by the taste. When he lifted the cup to his lips and tilted it, a sweet liquid flowed in.
“This is citron tea.”
“Nothing better in winter.”
At Jin Gyu-min’s question of how it was, Tae-seo nodded and took another sip. The sweet and tangy drink made even Blessing happy.
“Did Se-heon ask you to check on me?”
At Tae-seo’s intuitive question, Jin Gyu-min flinched slightly, then nodded.
“He even gave me the time of your appointment.”
Of course it was Kang Se-heon.
Maybe it was because of that thoughtful gesture, preparing something like this in advance, that the citron tea tasted even sweeter.
“Once the baby’s born, it’ll be the start of childcare. Make sure to work Se-heon hard then.”
“Se-heon-hyung?”
He had heard before that Se-heon planned to be involved with childcare, but since Jin Gyu-min brought it up too, he asked out of curiosity.
“You have no idea how often he calls me. It’s like he doesn’t just want to be a good dad—he wants to become a childcare expert or something. I mean, he even asks me medical questions. I’m like, what is this guy doing?”
Only now did he realize why Jin Gyu-min had been getting so many calls.
“But, it’s just like Kang Se-heon to be that way. I don’t know if he told you this, but when he found out you were pregnant, he said without a moment’s hesitation that he’d raise the baby. Thinking about that scary-looking guy already ready to strap on a baby carrier... kind of funny, huh?”
At that moment, Jin Gyu-min checked his phone as it buzzed and stood up. His face looked urgent, like something had come up.
“Well then, I’ll see you again after Blessing is born.”
Jin Gyu-min said goodbye and walked off quickly. Tae-seo sipped the citron tea, watching his back.
“I should compliment Se-heon-hyung when I see him.”
When did he start thinking such admirable things?
On that note, he started typing a message to Kang Se-heon, saying that he’d arrived at the hospital and was waiting for his appointment—when ◈ Nоvеlіgһт ◈ (Continue reading) someone walked past him.
Tae-seo’s hand froze. The feeling coming off the person wasn’t like just anyone passing by—it was too familiar. He moved his thumb to turn off the screen and, seeing the reflection of his own face in the phone, tensed up.
The person with the deeply pulled-down cap walked toward the emergency stairs, and with a hardened expression, Tae-seo followed.
“Tae-seo. I’ve got time again now, so—”
Jin Gyu-min, who came back a step too late, looked around the spot where Tae-seo had been sitting just a moment ago. The citron tea he gave was still sitting on the table, but the person was gone.
Tae-seo, who had entered the emergency stairs, looked up at the man standing midway on the staircase with his arms crossed—as if he’d been waiting for him. The lower half of his face was visible under the cap pulled low.
It wasn’t his imagination that he looked somehow more ragged.
“Seo Da-rae.”
At Tae-seo’s call, the man took off his hat, and his face looked far more haggard than before.
“You...”
He looked so drastically different that Tae-seo opened his mouth in shock, unable to imagine how he must’ve been living all this time.
“Yoon Tae-seo.”
Cracked lips parted as a creepily low voice came out.
“Are you happy?”
“What?”
“You tormented me and hurt me—so are you happy now?”
Maybe because of the setting, Seo Da-rae’s gloomy voice echoed eerily.
“Don’t tell me... you came looking for me because of that?”
“What? Just because you apologized, I’m supposed to accept it and crawl into a hole somewhere?”
At Seo Da-rae’s sarcasm, Tae-seo swallowed a sigh.
“If I think about how many days you spent suffering, even saying I’m sorry a hundred, a thousand times wouldn’t be enough.”
“Yeah? You saying that just sounds laughable.”
“But that’s something I should be begging you for and asking your forgiveness—not something that gives you permission to destroy yourself.”
Tae-seo’s eyes scanned Seo Da-rae from head to toe. His hair had grown out into a mess, like he hadn’t bothered to cut it, covering his face. His skin was rough. There was blood at the corners of his cracked lips, and there were clear bite marks and smears of blood—like he had chewed them over and over.
“I’m sorry that I’m this happy after doing something so terrible to you.”
This was the true shape of the anxiety that sometimes crept up on Tae-seo. Things had been resolved with Kang In-hyuk, but not with Seo Da-rae. Especially after Kang In-hyuk’s emotions had shifted away from Seo Da-rae and turned toward him—it had only worsened.
“I see... you’re happy.”
Seo Da-rae, only hearing what he wanted to hear from Tae-seo’s words, muttered darkly. The entire time they talked, the cold air seemed to cling to Tae-seo’s body like static—it gave him chills.
“I wonder... could I have been happy too?”
At Seo Da-rae’s sigh-laced words, Tae-seo held himself back from saying what he really wanted to: you were supposed to be.
Originally, Seo Da-rae’s story ended with him becoming Kang In-hyuk’s lover and finding happiness. But that story had gone off course somewhere in the middle—and it had changed Seo Da-rae completely.
Ever since he became Yoon Tae-seo, their fates had diverged.
“To be pregnant with an Alpha’s baby like you... counting the days...”
Seo Da-rae slowly ascended the stairs.
“Smiling like you own the whole world...”
The sound of his steps echoed off the hallway walls.
“To live a life so happy, loved by an Alpha—could I have had that?”
Before he knew it, Seo Da-rae had climbed up to just below where Tae-seo was standing and looked up. Because of the height difference, the stair between them made their eye level more drastic—but for some reason, Seo Da-rae’s presence felt overwhelming.
“Or maybe... did you steal my happiness from me?”
At the moment Tae-seo widened his eyes in shock, Seo Da-rae grabbed his wrist as if snatching it.
