The Mighty Mage-Chapter 482: Greedy Long Yifan
Chapter 482: Chapter 482: Greedy Long Yifan
Did she feel a flutter in her heart? She did.
But...
Gu Jin closed her eyes and turned her head away,
"Don’t do this."
Long Yifan’s eyes stayed on Gu Jin’s beautiful face, and her hand involuntarily cupped her face.
"Do you each day, I wake up, I wish you were beside me. Each time I train, I wish to train beside you. Each break I take, I wish I could bring snacks to you. We missed so much Jin’er...and it’s all because of me. If time could go back, I would propose to you the day I met you."
He was referring to the day he saw her kill ruthlessly and donate money to orphanages.
Maybe it’s her kind heart hidden behind her cold exterior that had attracted him.
Gu Jin refused to say anything.
For the first time, she felt as if she could feel something.
The crack.
Even her cold heart couldn’t handle the sincere words.
"Jin’er, I am a greedy b*stard. I know I shouldn’t ask for more, but when it comes to you...I couldn’t stop myself. I was never a saint, but for you...I feel as if I might become a devil."
Gu Jin’s chest tightened.
She wanted to stay cold. She really did.
But Long Yifan’s words made her heart ache in ways she didn’t know were possible.
Slowly, she pulled her hand out of his.
"You’re such a fool," she whispered.
"You say all these things now... but what about before? When I needed you the most, where were you?"
Long Yifan’s expression twisted with guilt. He stepped back, giving her space, but he didn’t look away.
"I was stupid," he said honestly. "I thought... if I left you alone, you would be safer. Happier."
He smiled bitterly. "Turns out, leaving you just hurt both of us."
Gu Jin’s lips pressed into a thin line.
She didn’t know what to say.
A part of her wanted to let go of the past, while a part of her wanted to stay strong and make him suffer.
’You can’t be weak now! Not now! He didn’t suffer enough!’ Her mind shouted.
And Gu Jin, being the rational person she was, listened to her mind. With a cold smirk, she said,
"Then why are you here? Leave me alone. You know you hurt me, and yet you are hanging around me.
The truth is, even after I forgive you, you will stay because you want something more than an apology. You want my love, too. That’s very selfish of you."
Long Yifan paused for a brief moment before he smiled,
"Did I not make myself clear? I indeed want your forgiveness....But I never denied that I want your love, too. From day one, that was my intention."
Gu Jin stared at Long Yifan, stunned into silence.
She expected him to deny it, to back away like most people did when she pointed out their selfishness.
But he didn’t.
Instead, he stepped even closer, his warm breath brushing her cheeks.
His eyes were intense, burning straight through her cold mask.
"From the very beginning," he said softly, "I wanted you."
Gu Jin’s heart twisted painfully in her chest.
She hated how much his words affected her. She hated that tiny, fragile crack inside her, getting bigger and bigger with each second.
She turned away again, but Long Yifan was faster.
His hand slid around her waist, firm but careful, pulling her against him.
"Let go," she said stiffly, her voice shaking a little.
"No," he whispered right against her ear. His breath was hot, and it sent a shiver down her spine.
Gu Jin’s fingers curled into fists, but she didn’t push him away.
Not this time.
Long Yifan leaned his forehead against the side of her head, breathing her in like she was air itself.
"I dream about you," he murmured. "I wake up reaching for you."
Gu Jin squeezed her eyes shut.
"Stop it," she whispered, but even to her own ears, it sounded weak.
Long Yifan’s arms tightened around her.
"I can’t," he said hoarsely. "You’re already under my skin, Jin’er. You’re part of me now."
He moved slowly, giving her every chance to push him away. But she didn’t.
He tilted her face up, his fingers trembling slightly against her skin.
Gu Jin’s breath caught when their eyes met. His were full of so much raw, aching emotion that it almost scared her.
Like she was precious.
Like she was his whole world.
Long Yifan brushed her lower lip with his thumb, his touch feather-light.
Gu Jin shivered. ƒreewebɳovel.com
"You drive me crazy," he whispered. "You make me want to break every rule just to have you."
He dipped his head and kissed the corner of her mouth—softly, almost respectfully.
Gu Jin’s whole body tensed.
He kissed her again, slower this time, lingering.
When she didn’t move, didn’t slap him again, he grew bolder.
His lips pressed against hers properly, warm and firm and full of longing.
Gu Jin’s heart raced so fast she felt dizzy.
She told herself she should pull away.
She told herself that she can’t soften!
But instead, her hands found their way to his shirt, clutching the fabric like she needed something to anchor her to the world.
Long Yifan made a low sound in his throat, something between a sigh and a groan.
Carefully, he kissed her deeper, tasting her slowly like he had all the time in the world.
His hand slid up her back, fingers threading through her hair, cradling her head like she was something fragile and precious.
Gu Jin gasped softly against his mouth, and he took the chance to deepen the kiss even more.
Heat exploded between them, wild and consuming.
For the first time in a long, long time, Gu Jin felt something so strong it scared her.
Desire.
Want.
Need.
Long Yifan pulled back just a little, his forehead resting against hers.
Both of them were breathing hard.
"I love you," he said roughly, his voice shaking with emotion. "Not just for your strength. Not just for your beauty. I love everything about you, even the parts you hide."
Gu Jin’s throat tightened painfully.
She hated how much she wanted to believe him.
She hated how much she already did believe him.
Thud.
Before she could take any action, she was startled by the sound and pushed Long Yifan away.
Turning around, she saw Xu Zhen awkwardly lying near a tree.
Xu Zhen scrambled to sit up, rubbing the back of his head with a sheepish grin.
"Haha... don’t mind me! I was just...uh...enjoying the scenery!" he said loudly, trying—and failing—to act casual.
Long Yifan’s face darkened instantly. He turned to Xu Zhen, his voice low and dangerous, "How much did you see?"
Xu Zhen raised both hands like he was surrendering. "Not much! I swear! Just a little bit of...hugging? Maybe a tiny smooch? Nothing serious! Really! Totally G-rated!"
Gu Jin’s fists clenched.
Long Yifan cracked his knuckles ominously.
Xu Zhen panicked and scrambled to his feet.
"Okay, okay! I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone! I’ll even erase it from my memory! Look—delete, delete, delete!" He started poking his own forehead like he was pressing a delete button.
Gu Jin couldn’t help it.
She turned around and left.
"Hey! Don’t go! Miss Gu! Sister-in-law."
Gu Jin: "..."
She glared at Xu Zhen, it was enough to make him shut up, before leaving.
Once she left, Xu Zhen turned toward Long Yifan with a huge smile and said,
"Captain, you hit a jackpot today, huh...eh? Captain, why are you looking so angry! Wait! I am sorry! Please don’t punish me!"
Long Yifan cracked his knuckles again, his expression dark and scary.
Xu Zhen yelped and took two big steps back.
"Captain, mercy! Mercy! I’ll do anything! Run errands, clean your room, polish your boots—anything but getting beaten up!"
Long Yifan took a slow, threatening step toward him.
Xu Zhen immediately dropped to the ground and started doing push-ups like his life depended on it. "See? I’m working hard already! One! Two! Three!"
Long Yifan stared at him like he was an idiot.
"You think doing push-ups will save you?" he asked coldly.
If this b*stard hadn’t interrupted him, he could have used the movement to do more, or at least make his relationship with her closer.
Ah! Why! Why do novels, films, and TV series show a male lead accompanied by a capable assistant or teammates, while he has a pig teammate?
Heck! Even side characters nowadays have some big shots by their side!
Ugh!
"150 laps now!" Long Yifan said with gritted teeth.
"No! Captain! Please have mercy on me!"
Xu Zhen started to wail like a banshee.
Long Yifan sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Just disappear," he muttered. "Before I really lose my temper."
Xu Zhen didn’t need to be told twice. He jumped to his feet, gave a very sloppy salute, and bolted off like a scared rabbit.
"I’ll be invisible! Like air! You won’t even notice I’m here!" his voice echoed from far away.
