Long Yifan’s eyes slowly turned toward her.

"Finish your cooldown laps," he said flatly.

"But I already—"

"Do them again."

Li Mian’s mouth dropped open. "That’s so unfair!"

"Do you want a hundred?"

"No! No, I’m going!"

She ran off quickly, grumbling under her breath.

Long Yifan finally looked away and walked in the direction of the training hall.

Once near her, he softened his voice and asked,

"Can we talk?"

Gu Jin didn’t even spare him a glance and said in a cold voice,

"Did you not hear me? We have no relationship. Don’t show me your face."

It didn’t take him time to guess that Gu Jin misunderstood his reaction.

He was about to explain everything when the Instructor returned and announced,

"The Exchange students for the alchemy team and combat team have arrived."

Gu Jin ignored Long Yifan’s stare and walked up to her team.

Long Yifan could only summon his team back.

Li Mian took Bai Qing’s support to stand while Xu Zhen was whispering something in Zhang Jie’s ears.

The big doors of the hall swung open again.

Everyone turned to look.

A group of about ten people walked in, wearing different colored uniforms than Long Yifan’s team. Their uniforms were white and silver, with a small golden badge shaped like a dragon on the chest.

These were the exchange students from England!

Instructor Luo smiled and clapped his hands.

"Everyone, please welcome the exchange teams from England! They’ll be joining our classes and training for a while."

The students from England stood in two neat lines—five for the combat team and five for the alchemy team.

The leader of the combat team stepped forward first.

He was a tall boy with short blond hair and icy blue eyes.

His face was calm and serious, like he didn’t care about anyone around him. Even his posture was stiff, like a soldier.

"This is Ethan Drake," Instructor Luo said. "He’s the captain of England’s combat team."

Ethan gave a tiny nod. He didn’t smile.

Next to him was a girl with curly red hair and freckles all over her nose. She had a bright, sunny smile and waved happily at everyone.

"And this is Lily Carter," said Instructor Luo.

"Hi, everyone!" Lily said cheerfully. "I hope we can be good friends!"

A few students giggled. Her energy was way too different from Ethan’s coldness.

The third was a boy with black hair and sharp green eyes. He had a bored look on his face, like he’d rather be anywhere else. He even yawned a little.

"This is Oliver Reed," Instructor Luo continued.

Oliver didn’t even bother to greet anyone. He just crossed his arms and leaned on one foot.

The fourth was a girl with long silver hair tied in a braid. Her face was pretty but cold. She stood with perfect posture, eyes like ice.

"Amelia White."

Amelia nodded once but didn’t smile at all.

And the last for the combat team was a short boy with messy brown hair and glasses. He kept adjusting his glasses and whispering to the person next to him.

"And this is Noah Brooks," said Instructor Luo.

Noah waved shyly. "Uh, hi... nice to meet you..." He mumbled, his voice barely louder than a mouse’s.

Then the alchemy team stepped forward.

The leader was a girl with straight black hair and a sharp look in her eyes. She was thin and wore her uniform perfectly neat.

"This is Sophia Green," Instructor Luo said. "Captain of England’s alchemy team."

Sophia smiled politely, but her eyes didn’t smile at all. She gave off a proud, strict feeling.

Beside her was a boy with curly golden hair and an easygoing grin.

"And this is Leo Bennett," Instructor Luo said.

Leo gave a wink and said, "Hope we don’t blow anything up together, yeah?"

Some students chuckled.

The third alchemist was a girl with brown skin and shiny black hair in a tight bun. She looked serious and focused, holding a small notebook even now.

"This is Priya Patel."

Priya gave a small, respectful nod.

The fourth was a boy with wild red hair and a mischievous smile that matched it.

"This is Finn Morgan. He’s a bit... energetic," Instructor Luo said, looking a little worried.

Finn gave a big thumbs-up. "Ready to have some fun!"

Everyone laughed at that.

And finally, there was a tall, thin girl with pale blond hair and sleepy-looking eyes.

"And this is Emma Woods. She focuses on rare materials and artifact repair."

Emma yawned behind her hand and said softly, "Nice to meet you... I guess."

After the introductions, the two teams from England lined up neatly.

The Chinese students looked at them with curiosity.

Gu Jin, however, wasn’t much interested.

Maybe it was because of Long Yifan’s high and mighty attitude, or maybe the fact that she did want to talk with him but didn’t get the chance to do it, her expression wasn’t much great.

Instructor Luo continued with a smile,

"Today, all of you should rest, and in the evening, we will conduct a theory-friendly exchange."

The moment Instructor Luo left, Finn turned toward Gu Jin and asked with interest,

"Are you single?"

Before Gu Jin could answer, Han Xiaoyu said,

"No. She has a fiancé. But if you want, you can get my number."

She even winked at him.

Finn ignored her and asked Gu Jin,

"Is your fiancé handsome?"

"Yes. A lot!" Han Xiaoyu replied again. She expected Finn to back out, but instead, Finn grinned and said,

"It just happens that I am bisexual. I don’t mind sharing you, beauty. How about you go on a date with me?" Finn’s contented voice sounded.

Gu Jin finally looked up at him, her eyes cold like ice.

"No," she said simply. Her voice was sharp enough to cut.

Finn chuckled like he wasn’t bothered at all. "Ouch. Shot down just like that. You’re cruel, beauty."

Han Xiaoyu crossed her arms. "Tch. Flirting with both genders? You really have no shame."

Finn just winked at her and said, "Flirting is good for health, you know."

The other English students behind him were already laughing quietly. Leo elbowed Finn and whispered, "You got rejected faster than I can brew a potion."

Even Lily giggled and said, "Finn, maybe you should stop before you make more enemies."

Finn just shrugged, still grinning like a troublemaker.

Meanwhile, Ethan, the combat team captain, frowned. His icy blue eyes swept over Finn like he was an annoying fly.

"Enough," Ethan said in a cold voice. "We’re guests here. Don’t embarrass us."

Finn made a silly salute and said, "Yes, Captain Iceberg."

Everyone from the Chinese side watched all of this with weird expressions. Some looked amused, others annoyed.

Long Yifan stood quietly at the side, his face blank. But deep inside, he didn’t like how Finn kept talking to Gu Jin.

Xu Zhen leaned toward Zhang Jie and whispered, "That Finn guy is crazy."

Zhang Jie nodded. "I hope he’s better at fighting than he is at flirting. The captain might go crazy from anger any second."

"Exactly, to think he would stare at sister-in-law’s photo in free time as if he might kiss her the moment they meet again." Xu Zhen muttered.

"Well, from her looks, she might have misunderstood everything he did." Zhang Jie muttered.

"True. If only I could tell sister-in-law, just how much the captain wanted to meet her." Xu Zhen shook his head.

"Why not help them?" Zhang Jie raised an eyebrow.

Xu Zhen’s eyes widened before he grinned.

"Good idea."

They exchanged a look.

While they were conversing, Bai Qing and Li Mian were talking with each other,

"Gu Jin is too b*tchy. She claimed that she had no feelings for Captain, but the moment he was free, she tried to talk to him!"

"Okay, okay, don’t be angry. You might not know this, but when the captain punished you, he was looking at you tenderly. Maybe he doesn’t want you to interact with his past and feel sad." Bai Qing said.

Li Mian believed her anyways. She always felt as if Long Yifan was very attentive toward her.

He would go out of his way to punish her.

"But then why does he never let me touch him?" Li Mian muttered.

Bai Qing rolled her eyes internally.

But she maintained her smile and said,

"Maybe he doesn’t want to scare you?"

"You are correct. But I am not scared. I am thinking that I should give myself as an assurity, what do you think?"
