The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride-Chapter 685: Appreciation
Chapter 685: Appreciation
"So you trust our decision now?" Nathaniel asked Azura, who placed her hand gently on the crystal ball, afraid that she would hurt her daughter or that the glow from her hands would be gone if she held it too tight.
The tears in her eyes weren’t stopping as she looked at her daughter’s confused expression.
Her daughter, who once held the cahoots of the strongest army and the strongest powers, was looking at that little glow with such confusion.
Her daughter, who once had enough powers inside her to destroy an entire kingdom, had no idea what was happening to her. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Was there anything more heartbreaking than this? She wondered and looked at Nathaniel.
"Did you tell your father about it yet? He would surely be happy to know about it," Azura asked.
Nathaniel looked at the crystal ball before shaking his head.
He leaned on the table, not looking at anything in particular.
"I want to wait for some time before deciding on something," he said.
Azura looked at her son, not liking how he was so secretive about it and making her feel so out of the loop.
"Let me guess, you won’t open up to me about it, right?" Azura asked. Just like she had thought, Nathaniel nodded in agreement, making her press her lips with annoyance.
"Does anyone else know about this?" She asked.
Nathaniel nodded and told her that Azrael knew about it. Though Azura wasn’t exactly pleased with the information that her sister was lurking around her daughter, she didn’t say anything.
Though she forgave her sister, this didn’t mean she was ready to trust her completely after what she had done.
"Do me a favor. Don’t let her get involved too much until Elliana gets her powers back or remembers everything," Azura said.
She could see the question in Nathaniel’s eyes because everyone could see how much Azrael was doing for Elliana. She was even sharing her monthly magna with the girl so she could call her powers back, but that was still not enough to trust her.
"I know you doubt her intentions, Mother. Don’t worry. It was accidental. She came to my office, probably heard me talking to Elliana, and went to check up on her. However, I will keep things in check," Nathaniel assured her.
Azura nodded her head.
"By the way, about Ari’s birthday..." Nathaniel left the sentence hanging.
He didn’t know how to proceed with it.
Azura looked at her son. Her instinct told her to deny the invitation immediately.
She didn’t want to have any relationship with the family, but one person kept the family intact, and that person was her daughter.
"Elliana said something?" Azura asked, and Nathaniel hummed.
He told her that when he went to meet her, she expressed her intention to go to the birthday party.
Though she did not remember things clearly, she still held a deep bond and connection with Arizona because of how long she stayed with her.
Azura nodded in understanding.
"If that’s what my daughter wants, she will get it. Will she be returning?" Azura asked.
Nathaniel paused.
Right. He forgot to ask her how to get back. Was she going to go straight to Arizona’s kingdom, or would she like to come to the Dark Witch kingdom first?
"Pardon me, I forgot to ask her," Nathaniel looked at Azura awkwardly.
She smiled. She knew that Nathaniel was trying his best to do everything right, to prove his worth to the kingdom, and to tell everyone that it was a bad choice to throw him out because he was a hybrid. But more than that, he wanted to prove to his sister that he was taking care of her kingdom even when she didn’t remember anything.
And while doing all that, he was starting to lose himself amidst responsibilities.
He was still okay when Elliana was in the kingdom, but she hadn’t seen him smile since she left.
Azura tried to relieve some of the burden from his shoulders, even telling him she had nothing better to do, but the guy didn’t agree and told her to enjoy life with her husband and catch up on all the years they had missed together.
"That’s completely fine, Nath. I don’t know if you feel it, but you are doing great. I am proud of you and would trade anything to have you as my biological son. Thanks to the moon goddess, I have such a loving family, and that family isn’t complete without you," Azura said, cupping Nathaniel’s cheeks with motherly instincts.
Nathaniel froze in his place.
He wasn’t someone who was appreciated now and then. He had his share of hardships, and even after he took over the throne, many witches didn’t take him seriously because he wasn’t pure and was a hybrid.
He kept the humiliation to himself because he didn’t want to appear like a shining kid in front of his parents. He knew his journey was going to be a tough one.
It was always Elliana who gave him strength to keep going. He could see her smile even in her struggles, and that was what motivated him.
Though his father often came and told him he was doing a good job, he never heard something as meaningful as this.
Tears welled in his eyes, and he quickly blinked away and turned around to hide them.
"Something got into my eyes," Nathaniel cleared his throat.
Azura, who looked at his tough guy’s personality, couldn’t help but smile before placing her hand on his shoulders.
"I am leaving now. Do well, and let me know if you ever need my help. Don’t hesitate to ask your mother’s advice, son," Azura said before disappearing.
As soon as she left, Nathaniel let his emotions flow, and the wetness on his cheeks made him remember his doll from the vampire kingdom.
She would’ve come to him and wiped his tears before joking around if she had been here.
She would’ve told him how silly he was for crying over such a stupid thing. He shook his head at his thoughts.
It had only been a couple of days, and he was already missing his princess. He could even fathom the pain Sebastian would feel when he remembered everything and realized he had forgotten about the only person who called him and meant everything to him.
Nathaniel sighed.
At the same time, Elliana’s lips twitched in the car as she looked at the people through the rearview mirror.
Since she was uncomfortable, there was no way she would sit on anyone’s lap or close to either of the men as Sebastian was being mischievous, and the almighty king couldn’t have allowed her proximity with the prince, so she was asked to sit on the shotgun seat.
And where did Lucas go?
He was sitting between his King and Prince Vincenzo with a heavy scowl on his face, his expression worth laughing.
Ambrose didn’t dare to look into the rearview mirror even once because he knew he would end up laughing, and Lucas, who was already pissed, would surely give him a good one after getting out of the car.
Lucas looked at his King, who was sitting there as if it wasn’t his fault that the girl had to sit in the front seat.
The girl wouldn’t have felt uncomfortable if he hadn’t been sitting like a hooligan with his legs wide apart. But he had to keep annoying her, and look where it got them.
Sebastian looked at his subordinate from the corner of his eyes, not saying anything, before looking out the window again.
After what felt like an eternity, they reached their destination.
Elliana didn’t waste a single second unlocking the door and stepping out, followed by Prince Vincenzo, who wanted to breathe without feeling suffocated under his brother’s heavy gaze.
Something was wrong with his brother for sure.
"It’s beautiful," Elliana whispered to no one in particular, and Lucas, who finally stepped out of the car and looked at the giant Ferris wheel she was gazing at, smiled.
How great it would be if their King could get the chance to ride it with the girl?
Though he doesn’t say it openly, his every action from the moment they met indicates that she has caught his attention for real.
"Do you like riding Ferris wheels?" Sebastian asked her out of the blue.
Elliana looked at the man, feeling stuck for a second.
Does she like riding a Ferris wheel? She did not know the answer to that. She just liked it the moment she saw it.
Has she done something like this in the past? If yes, where was it? Which kingdoms have Ferris wheels like this? With whom she rode it?
Has she ever been on a ride in the past? Was her life exciting or just plain?
Many questions started to rise in her head, and the fact that she didn’t know the answer to any of them made her emotional; her sudden change in emotions confused people around her.
However, Sebastian stepped ahead and placed his hand on her shoulders.
"It doesn’t hurt to make new memories," he said, his words catching her off-guard.
