Chapter 2945 Anomalous Ambush

The Martial Masters gaped at the outcome of a single attack, before turning back to his jet-black MECHA, hovering midair, looking down upon the entire world domineeringly, before retreating back to the Kandrian Empire.

The Martial Masters watched with stunned expressions.

His MECHA, the Abyssal Mirror, had been designed and constructed by none other than the Esoterist himself nearly a decade ago when Ieyasu had approached him with an offer.

He would get a consistent supply of breakthroughs in exchange for maintenance and upgrading of his MECHA from the Esoterist himself. The latter had gladly agreed, of course, having been pleasantly surprised that an existing Martial Master had wanted to embrace MECHA technology to such an extent.

It took him only a few years to master the MECHA weapon in Esocline Federation, deploying his extraordinary mind-reading and mirror neurons to complete a decade's worth of mastery in a matter of months.

The MECHA was the most complicated and complex human-wielded weapon that had ever been created, with a difficulty of mastery far greater than that of any other weapon ever created.

The sheer barrier of entry, knowledge-wise, alone disqualified most people from successfully mastering the weapon, and the amount of training needed for basic proficiency was much greater than that of any other weapon.

And yet, Ieyasu mastered in such a small timeframe that it left even the Esoterist shocked.

He hadn't just mastered it.

He had assimilated it into his Martial Art smoothly.

FSSS…

The Martial Masters found themselves stunned silent even as the battlefield reeled from the sheer onslaught of the attack. The battle was soon completed.

News of it had already reached the Emperor of Harmony.

"According to the long-range surveillance core, Ieyasu killed the anomalous wave of unharmed Sage-level beasts with a single attack," the intelligence officer remarked. "His mastery of MECHAs exceeds even that of the few Martial Seniors that we have cultivated who have wielded MECHAs for decades despite having a more complex MECHA."

Emperor Rael heaved a deep breath as he read through the battle reports with a serious expression. "…He would fare decently well even if we sent him off to the Beast Domain at this very moment."

That was high praise, of course.

The Beast Domain had a truly perilous mortality rate even for the most powerful warriors of human civilization.

"Thankfully, he's bound by his MECHA," the intelligence officer remarked. "This will tie him down to the Kandrian Empire and force him to be subservient to us. The more he uses his MECHA, the more leverage the Kandrian Empire will have over him."

This was one of the reasons that states had aggressively adopted MECHAs, of course, in addition to their sheer value proposition, while Martial Artists were more reluctant about their power.

"Don't be too certain about that," Emperor Rael remarked with a serious gaze. "Remember, he is not dependent on MECHAs the way that exclusively MECHA Martial Artists are. He is still the strongest Martial Master in human civilization even without it with the sheer power that he has accrued and has shown no intentions of assimilating in the Kandrian Empire."

Ever since he joined the Kandrian Empire more than fifteen years ago, he had maintained a distance between himself and the others, never getting too close to anybody and never allowing anybody to get close to him. He stood aloof, detached from the entirety of the Kandrian Empire.

This made Emperor Rael not trust him.

"According to Rui, he came here to obtain power to assimilate," the Emperor of Harmony remarked. "If that was the only thing that has kept him here this entire time, then…"

Emperor Rael sharpened his eyes.

"Then he will most likely not remain in this nation for too much longer."

The Emperor of Harmony wasn't too pleased about this. Ideally, he would have liked to anchor Ieyasu down with some other means, like a family, a community, or even his own Martial Sect. And yet, the man had completely shunned all such shackles.

Before the Emperor of Harmony could even consider what to do with this ticking time bomb, another intelligence official barged into the Royal Office in defiance of the protocols with a grave expression.

"Your Majesty!" he urged with gritted teeth. "We have just received urgent reports from the Beggar's Sect! The anomalous surge of a secondary beast tide was not just something that happened to the Kandrian Empire! It has happened to all human nations across the continent!"

The air grew electric as Emperor Rael's eyes widened with shock. "What…?"

The pre-emptive charge of the second wave of beasts and monsters amid the previous one was an anomaly, but one that the Kandrian Empire had handled well thanks to Ieyasu and his MECHA. But none of the other nations were as powerful as the Kandrian Empire. None of them had a Rui or an Ieyasu among their ranks.

"I'm placing a priority status on all intelligence reports regarding this anomaly in the Beast Incursion." The Emperor of Harmony's expression grew grave. "Update me on any and all incidents regarding the anomaly."

For the past ten years, the Beast Incursion and the beast tides that comprised it formed an almost monotonous schedule of attack, lulling human civilization into a uniform periodic drawl, only to disrupt this monotony and unleash a devastatingly timed attack out of nowhere.

"How did the long-range surveillance corps completely miss the approach of the second tide of beasts and monsters?" Emperor Rael grew alarmed when he read the state of affairs.

"We don't know, Your Majesty. We are currently trying to find out."

"No, prioritize the crisis for now," Emperor Rael commanded. "We can dissect the cause later. For now, contact the Esocline Federation and explore the possibility of long-range strategic support. Compile possible support measures with our existing militaristic and intelligence capital. We cannot allow this to deteriorate our strategic outlook and accelerate the incursion rate into human territory."

Human civilization shuddered as the frenzied beasts and monsters somehow managed to catch all of them off guard!
