2936 One Year

"Additionally," Rui remarked as he gazed at the primordial seed floating in his hands, "I have found a new avenue of power that I would like to explore."

None of the Martial Sages needed him to clarify what he was referring to at all. They had witnessed his adaptive evolution-off against the abyssfeeder and could easily intuit what he had in mind.

"It's dangerous," Matriarch Nephi warned. "You should be able to foresee that now that you have gotten your hands on the Eye of Prophecy."

Rui nodded knowingly. "I can sense the dangers that exist in the future. But…"

His eyes lit up with a hint of greed as his gaze returned to the primordial seed in his hands.

He couldn't help himself.

With the Enlightenment of Self, he had an even greater understanding of just how much he greeded for the magical power of the abyssfeeder.

Sage Sera heaved a sigh of amusement. "Oh well, if you get stronger from whatever this upgrade will be, then it might be worth it to give you the time to do all that. After all…"

She shrugged lightly.

"You are our most valued asset in this circumstance."

Rui, along with the other three pillars of the Siege of Sages, were the only reason that any of them believed that they could slay the Beast That Roared.

The extraordinary destruction of the Devil.

The supreme brilliance of the Boundless Light.

The indomitable invincibility of the Reverend of Reckoning.

And, of course, the unfathomable antitheticality of the Dawnbringer.

It was only thanks to these four pillars that they were confident of defeating the Beast That Roared, with all of them pooling their power together led by these four, armed with every resource that empowered them to extraordinary extents.

Thus, if Rui was confident that he could get stronger within a reasonably short amount of time, then it was worth it to invest in him. "As for other preparations," Rui replied. "I think we should develop more cohesive battle formation strategies and other methods to ensure that our teamwork and coordination is as strong as it can be. We can have the Hive impart certain basic training and principles so that we can avoid getting in each other's way when fighting the Beast That Roared."

Fighting one opponent was different from fighting a large number of opponents across a vast distributed area, the battle would be more concentrated and if they didn't have good coordination, their effective output would lower significantly as they would hamper each other's paths.

They needed to set defined roles for different types of Martial Artists for different scenarios.

After all, they had no idea what the species of the beast was and the center of the Beast Domain was impenetrable to their sense of it from the outside, it was too risky to send scouts in such a dangerous area.

That left them with the cumbersome and time-consuming option of simply accounting for all major categories of scenarios depending on what the species of the Beast That Roared was. Unfortunately, even after fifteen years of study, the Ecologer had not come close to identifying the species of the Beast That Roared despite her best efforts. Of course, no one blamed her for that, she had virtually no clues to go off of outside of the roar which was a cacophonic choir of roars that were jumbled up.

It was beyond discernable, even for someone of her caliber.

She had only provided some intelligence on what species it wasn't.

She also hadn't ruled out the possibility that it actually was multiple organisms.

Regardless, they needed to prepare as much as possible for each scenario. Unlike with the quasi-Transcendent beasts, they would almost certainly be at a power disadvantage and a coordination disadvantage as a single creature would obviously coordinate itself better than hundreds of Martial Sages. "Hmph, if we wait long enough, we might get a MECHA Martial Sage," Sage Gurren remarked with an intense tone. "Or we might our hands on one of those blood human Sages. Or potentially a blood human MECHA Sage."

"That should be impossible." The mountain of Fortitude shook his head. "Both MECHAs and blood humans are still too young to compete at this level of power."

"Don't be too certain," Sage Zentra remarked with a knowing tone. "With the manifold, time is meaningless. Even if they don't spend every second of every day in the manifold, it does accelerate their development massively. Especially that of MECHA Martial Artists, we have already gotten MECHA Martial Masters in the Esocline Federation and the Kandrian Empire and they have displayed a titanic amount of power, as expected."

Although they themselves hadn't seen it, they had received reports of the sheer dominance of MECHA Martial Artists on the battlefield. They were able to achieve a degree of power right upon the entry of the Master Realm that had never been seen before except for Rui.

It proved beyond all reasonable doubt that they were the future.

And that whichever nation harnessed this power the most was the nation that would be the strongest in the future.

"One year."

Rui's tone was unyieldingly firm.

"We will prepare for one year."

His pitch-black eyes swept over his fellow Sages. "We will not enter the center of the Beast Domain without making every last preparation we possibly can. If we fail…"

His gaze sharpened. "Then all of humanity will perish."

The stakes of the impending final battle were high, higher than perhaps any other battle that they had ever fought in their entire life, they needed to consolidate their gains, gain at least the bare minimum coordination to prevent fiascos in this important battle.

The Martial Sages stirred at his words, nodding.

It was also enough time for Rui to fully work on integrating the primordial seed into his body before the battle with the Beast That Roared. If he truly was going to fight a beast that was as powerful in the worst-case scenario, then he would need every ounce of power that he could get his hands on.
