The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 234: Help (2)
Chapter 234: Help (2)
After planning with Kenneth, Tobias returned to the palace right away as he could not leave Hazel there alone for long. He went straight to her room to see what she had been doing to pass the time.
Tobias knew that there being no signs of her being pregnant was filling her with guilt and upsetting her even when she said that she was fine. He tried to do all that he could to keep her happy.
Three years passed by with him having servants constantly checking her food and reassuring her that he could keep waiting for a child, but what he did wasn’t reaching her anymore.
Taking a trip out of the palace came to mind once more as it might be what she needed to be happy again. Just the two of them with a few guards going off somewhere to be alone.
Instead of two guards, Tobias found six when he reached Hazel’s door. He didn’t care who would think that it was too much when Hazel was just inside her room. He couldn’t take any chances after what Grant declared.
The door was opened for Tobias so he could go inside.
"My sweet wife-"
"Do not be my sweet wife to me. You left the palace for hours and sent someone to inform me when you were already on your way out. It’s not like you to leave without coming to me even if it is urgent, so where did you go?" Hazel asked, refusing to look at Tobias.
Daisy wondered if she should sneak off or if she was to stay to finish serving the queen. She was the only maid present so she didn’t have anyone around to follow their lead.
"My sweet wife must have missed me. I brought you a gift that might change that. Made from the hands of Tessa Henson," Tobias said, unwrapping the cookies packed for him.
"Did you go to see Kenneth or his sons?" Hazel questioned, confused as to why he would go there instead of calling them to the palace.
Tobias ignored Hazel’s question and showed her a cookie. "There are only three left so you have to enjoy each bite."
"Tobias, what are you hiding from me? Why did you go all the way there? Is the war serious?" She asked, worried that it meant he would have to leave her.
"There is not any war to be concerned about, Hazel. I just needed to have an important talk with Kenneth about his army. If he would be willing to go to the border to help the guards there. I will not be leaving," Tobias promised.
Hazel calmed down a little upon hearing this but she still had to worry if Tobias had to leave urgently to go to Kenneth. "Did you receive bad news from the border? Sit with me," she said, no longer angry with him. "Daisy, you are free to take a little break. Eat something and then return when you are finished."
"Where are your other maids?" Tobias questioned, surprised that they were not here with Hazel. Wherever Hazel was, there were normally all of her maids around or at least two present.
"I have given one the day off to see her family as there seems to be trouble and the others have taken some dresses to be fixed. They will be back soon but since you are here, they can have a break. Is there something troubling you?" Hazel asked, sensing that there was something he had to share.
"I feel like I should be asking you that," Tobias replied.
Hazel frowned. "Is it because I was angry you left without coming to me? I suppose it was silly of me to get angry but I am so used to you coming to me even when you are in a rush to leave. And I was hoping to spend time with you at that time because I missed you."
Tobias closed his eyes, enjoying the confession that was going to kill him. How could he go back to what he was doing earlier after hearing this?
"Tobias?"
"You’ll be the death of me," Tobias said, opening his eyes to move closer to Hazel to kiss her. "Your lips are sweet."
"Daisy shared some sweets that she found in town. I had them looked over and tasted before I ate. I’m sorry that I didn’t leave any for you, but I will share my cookies with you. Oh, is there a reason why I wasn’t to take a visitor? Was it because you weren’t in the palace?" Hazel asked.
She was going to send for Linda but after what she was told, she changed her mind.
"It would have only been Linda," Hazel added.
"Hmm. Out of all your friends, I am starting to think you don’t have any others because I only see Linda- Oww," Tobias pretended to be hurt by Hazel pinching him. "It is the truth. Do you trust her most?"
Hazel thought Tobias should know the answer since Linda was her best friend. "Of course I do. That is a silly question. That would be like me asking you if you could trust Edgar. Why would you ask that? Do you think one of my friends will betray me?"
"No. I was just thinking who should be able to see you when I am out of the palace. Let me taste it first," Tobias said, taking up one of the cookies before Hazel could take a bite. "I must see what all the fuss is about."
"Tessa is a good baker. I almost had to get my dresses done bigger because of how many of these cookies I would eat. She stopped baking them often so it makes you love them even more when she does. Lovely, isn’t it?" Hazel asked, enjoying that she could share this with Tobias. "I would love to learn how to bake for you and for our children should we have any."
Tobias noticed again for a split second that something was wrong. She was good at covering it, but she underestimated how much he noticed about her. "Hazel, if there is ever something bothering you, would you tell me? Not about the palace, just something that bothers you."
"I would," Hazel answered. "I share everything with you." freёwebnoѵel.com
This was perhaps the first time Tobias couldn’t trust her word. Instead, he would have to keep watching her. He would not like to learn that the palace had officially gotten to her and Hazel was hiding the terrible place that she was in now.
"Good," Tobias replied, though he didn’t believe her. "I am always here to listen and help when there is more to be shared."
