Chapter 78: Chapter 78- A Skill That Makes Up For What I Lack

When Sol saw the old man’s reaction his heart let out an excited thump for some strange reason, but he managed to bury the feeling immediately.

"Senior, I was able to figure out this fact because my Innate Dharma is related to the Wood Element. I knew by the aura of this plum blossom tree that it was the same as all the ones I observe on my way up the mountain."

"For you to be able to distinguish a tree’s aura means you’re Innate Dharma has an extremely high affinity with the Wood Element. Is that why you joined the Alchemy Pavilion instead of the Irregular Dharma Pavilion or the Runes and Formations Pavilion?"

Sol didn’t question how the old man knew he had joined the Alchemy Pavilion even though he wasn’t wearing their yellow robe, but a black robe with golden embroidery at the edges.

But a glimmer of surprise did appear in his eyes before he nodded and said.

"Yes, senior."

"Show me, it’s strange that a youth from the Barbarian Tribes awakened a Wood-type Innate Dharma."

Sol nodded once more before he stretch out both hands in front of him. Soon, his seedling materialized above them with a green glow.

"...Interesting."

The old man commented when he saw Sol’s Innate Dharma.

"Brat, are you really from the Barbarian Tribe?"

One could hear the skepticism in the old man’s voice.

"I am senior."

Sol responded calmly as he retrieved his Innate Dharma.

The old man wasn’t finished with his questions and he suddenly looked at Sol’s bracelets and asked.

"Are those for training? Not many youths nowadays would train in such an old fashion way."

"It helps, but I mainly wear them because they were a gift from my Father. He died..."

For a split second, a sad light flickered in Sol’s eyes, and the old man saw it.

"Brat, tell me, how were you able to refine so many of your bones at such a young age? Your physical strength is simply too abnormal."

The old man’s tone was still investigative and filled with skepticism, but it had lessened by quite a bit.

"Senior, my Master gave me a rare elixir when I was young that allowed me to refine so many of my bones."

"Who’s your Master?"

"My Father."

"Your Father?"

Sol nodded.

"My Father was the one who taught me before I was recruited by the Alchemy Pavilion Headmaster. So he’s my Master as well as my Father."

"Then who was that old man who brought you to the Academy?"

Sol looked taken aback by the old man’s question. Once again it was strange how he knew such information.

However, Sol still responded.

"I am not sure, he was someone the Headmaster requested to bring me to the Academy."

After Sol said this, the old man paused his interrogation to stare at him for a brief moment. Soon after, he placed his hands behind his back and smiled.

The old man seemed to return to the peaceful Grandpa before he was interrogating Sol.

"Brat, for answering my question correctly I’ll teach you Sword Art."

"Oh, but I don’t use a sword senior."

"Then I’ll just teach you a Saber Art."

"Ah, I don’t use a saber either."

"A spear?"

Sol shook his head.

The old man frowned.

"Then what kind of weapon do you use?"

"A bow."

Sol responded as he flipped over his palm and retrieved a long simple-looking bow.

The old man’s face immediately gained an amused expression as he asked.

"Are you any good with the bow? I’ve never heard of a Barbarian using a bow, it’s always a saber or in some rare instances a sword."

Sol’s face suddenly beamed with a smile before he knocked back the bow and aimed it in the sky above the lake.

Immediately after he knocked back the bow, green runes suddenly appeared on it and release a resplendent green light.

Sol’s robes and hair then began to flutter as the Wood-type Aether in the surroundings swirled around him and then coalesced into a green arrow between the bow.

Sol pulled back his bow even further and it could even be heard creaking under the tension.

BANG!

A shockwave was created by Sol releasing the arrow. After, an ear-shattering whistle pierced through the silent night as the green arrow shot through the sky.

It resembled a shooting star.

After releasing the first arrow, Sol knocked back his bow once more and fired a second arrow.

Strangely, Sol had not stretched the bow as far back as he did the first time. Also, when he fired the second arrow there was no shockwave, and even as the arrow move through the air, there was barely any sound of wind friction from it like the first.

It just completely pierced the air silently.

However, contrary to expectations of it being slow, it was fast, extremely fast.

Sol had even waited for a few seconds before shooting his second arrow. But in only a few breaths of time, it caught up with the first arrow and amazingly it followed the same rejection to perfectly hit it.

The first arrow was destroyed as the second arrow continued to fly for a few breaths of time before eventually losing momentum and scattering into green particles.

The old man silently watch this all happen before a serious expression slowly appeared on his face.

He then looked at Sol who was grinning from ear to ear.

"So, senior, do you think I have a talent for the bow?"

The old man soon regain his composure before he laughed and said.

"Your bow skills are amazing indeed, but what’s truly amazing is your control of Aether. The first arrow felt scattered and unstable, but the second arrow was extremely condensed. Not many people your age can exercise such minute control over Aether and their physical strength as well."

Sol’s chest puffed out at the old man’s words.

"You were also able to learn that technique to gather Aether into an arrow to Completion. Though it’s only a Low-Level Mortal Realm Technique, that’s still something. Did you also carve those runes yourself? You wouldn’t be able to conjure such a dense arrow otherwise."

Sol nodded like a chicken picking the ground; the grin never leaving his face.

The old man had to admit that the bow was extremely suitable for this mysterious boy.

The old man sighed to himself before he said.

"I don’t have any Bow Skills to teach you. Tell me, what kind of Skill do you want to learn?"

Sol put away his bow and had a thoughtful look appear on his face.

After a few seconds, he said.

"Senior, I want to learn a Skill that makes up for what I lack."

"Oh? And what is it that you lack?"

Slight amusement appeared in the old man’s eyes.

Sol didn’t seem to notice it as he said.

"Well, senior, I’m opening the acupoints in my legs because I think I need to focus on my speed. So instead of a Martial Arts Technique for weapons, I’d like to learn a Movement Skill. Does senior have a Movement Skill I can learn?"

The amusement in the old man’s eyes grew, but he said nothing and instead, he smiled before walking towards the lake.

Sol watched as the old man walk towards the edge of the lake, but he didn’t stop and took a step into it.

Sol panicked and was expecting the old man to fall in, but his mouth suddenly hung open as the old man actually started walking on the surface of the lake!
