The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 488- A Prelude For What Was About To Come
Chapter 488: Chapter 488- A Prelude For What Was About To Come
A few cheers erupted from the Alchemy Pavilion Disciples when Sol suddenly gained the upper hand.
Between the time Sol and the others jumped off the cloud platform to this point, it hadn’t passed an incensed stick’s worth of time.
Similarly, cheers came from a few cities watching on the Eastern Continent.
However, Sol’s focus wasn’t on the cheering Alchemy Disciples but rather on Altair. He raised his hand and pointed at him. It was a rather familiar scene.
But as this was happening, Althorne who was closest to Sol and had a good view of his back, noticed that Sol’s back beneath his sleeveless white shirt was pulsating with a strange light.
Althorne cocked an eyebrow at this scene.
Altair in response to Sol’s actions tensed up, he expected that Sol was going to attack using that strange ability. However, contrary to his thoughts something else occurred that left him and everyone else watching completely stunned.
Instead of a golden hand appearing after Sol’s point, the golden aura around his hand faded and was replaced by a black rune that appeared on his fingertip.
Everyone watching this scene felt like they were having a sense of deja vu as the moment that black rune appeared on Sol’s fingertip, a black rune appeared on Altair, however, it wasn’t on his finger but right in the middle of his forehead. And neither was there only one, before Altair could register what this rune being in the middle of his forehead without him knowing entailed, three more appeared on his face and many more all over his body. These runes then released a black glow that covered his figure and then disappeared right after along with him. In his place, Sol appeared.
"What, did you guys miss me?"
Sol said all smiles as Woo-seong and the others were looking at him speechlessly.
"What are we waiting for? Let’s go."
Sol grabbed Woo-seong’s hand, and those words seemed to knock everyone out of their stupor to return them to reality. They then started making their way down to the Shadow Dimension’s entrance once again.
Altair’s expression was ugly as he watched them go. He glanced down at the back of his hand where there was a black rune slowly dissipating. Quilt flew up to his side and looked at the rune as well with a frown.
"Fool, how did you not know he put so many runes on you?"
Altair raised his head and gave Quilt a scornful look. He then lifted his hand and pressed his palm against the chest plate of Quilt’s armor.
Quilt seeing this immediately realized what Altair was implying and he froze. But soon he sneered and said.
"That’s impos-"
However, before Quilt’s words could finish, Altair’s palm released spatial ripples that spread around his armor. A few black runes were then revealed on the armor before being shattered by the spatial ripples.
Quilt’s face turned slightly ashen when he saw those runes and their number. Altair’s expression was also solemn because this was simply too terrifying.
After destroying about a dozen runes, Altair removed his hand.
Quilt then asked hoarsely.
"How was he able to leave those runes on my armor?"
Quilt’s armor was extremely special. It had the ability to block out any external force. Meaning Sol’s runes weren’t supposed to be able to attach themselves to it, much less without him sensing them.
"I don’t know how he did it or when he did it. I also don’t know how he copied my Spatial Marking when it’s not some ordinary ’magic circle’ that a person who uses ’runes’ could copy. Unless..."
Altair’s eyes quivered as a frightening thought suddenly occurred to him. However, Quilt had stopped listening to him almost immediately and instead turned to glare at Sol and the others.
"Damn it, don’t you have another Spatial Marking on one of them? Let’s go, I refuse to let this go!"
Altair came out of his thoughts and said after a sigh.
"They were all erased just now. It looks like he knew about them all along but just left them be."
Quilt felt like cursing up a storm when he heard that. He was angry but he didn’t know where to direct it. Suddenly, he paused before turning to Altair and glaring at him.
Upon seeing this, Altair’s expression changed.
"You-Damn it. Stay away from me! What else could I have done?!"
Altair quickly flew back in retreat, but Quilt immediately rushed after him.
"Bastard, what are you running for?! Are you even a man?!"
The disciples who were watching from the cloud platforms wore strange expressions on their faces when they saw this scene.
Those watching from the cities in the Eastern Continent and those from the Seven Great Churches also had similar reactions, however, those from the Royal Families’ reaction was to merely give bitter smiles. Quilt and Altair were actually more notorious among the younger generation for their monthly antics than their extraordinary talents.
While Quilt was chasing Altair across the sky, Althorne was silently watching as Sol and the others entered the Dimension.
Fifty meters away from the abyss-like entrance, the Spatial Fluctuations were so strong that even Heaven Expanse Realm cultivators would avoid them.
Ushi, who was leading them, briefly paused around eighty meters away from the entrance. Afterward, he reached out towards the Formation within this abyss and the mysterious Lunar Energy he released inside it reacted to his call.
What happened next drew everyone’s attention.
A part of the black abyss became a line that extended towards Ushi’s outstretched hand. It passed through the Spatial Fluctuations and reached him eighty meters away.
The moment this black line touched Ushi’s hand it connected to his bloodline tattoo covering his body. Through this connection, Ushi willed the Formation to pull him inside the dimension. Yoon-jae and the others were pulled in as well since his bloodline tattoo was connected to them.
After the five youths disappeared, the extended black abyss retracted.
Quilt, who had stopped chasing Altair to watch this scene play out, snorted before flying back up to his cloud platform and sitting down cross-legged. He then folded his arms and closed eyes to wait for the Spatial Fluctuations to settle down so he could enter.
Altair also returned and sat beside him.
Quilt didn’t react to his presence, but if one looked closely, one would be able to see that his brows were slightly furrowed. The two were currently discussing their next move via a mental link.
Althorne was the last one to return, and with that, the small skirmish at the entrance of the Shadow Dimension had ended.
However, rather than feeling settled, both the disciples here and the many people watching around the two continents felt that this was merely a prelude for what was about to come.
