Chapter 466: Chapter 466- But If You Aren’t My Friend, Then...

As Sol was staring at the disciples throwing up Ushi in celebration, his extended senses suddenly picked up on someone at the edge of the crowd. He turned in that direction to see the young-looking Althorne.

A thoughtful expression was on his face while looking at the celebrating disciples as if he was deep in thought about something.

As if sensing Sol’s gaze, Althorne turns in this direction. He smiled and waved when he saw that it was Sol.

Sol returned the smile and decided to walk over.

"Little Althorne, did you enjoy the dance Brother Ushi and I performed?"

Sol stopped next to Althorne and followed his lead looking out at the celebrating disciples. From this position, Sol saw that he had a clear view of his table and the entire deck.

"Haha, how could I not enjoy Brother Sol’s performance? The theme of revenge will resonate with anyone in this world."

"Oh? You think so?"

Sol glanced at Althorne’s side profile.

Still smiling, Althorne nodded before responding.

"In this world where strength is worshipped and the weak is overlooked, revenge becomes a common theme among the weak."

"Little Althorne, is this theme a part of your life?"

Sol asked, but Althorne didn’t respond and only continued to smile.

Sol didn’t seem to mind this as he raised his hand and patted Althorne’s head.

"It’s okay, Little Althorne is strong."

As Sol comforted Althorne by patting his head, Althorne didn’t react. It seemed as if he was no longer bothered by Sol’s insistent skin-ship. However, in the crowd, a few disciples from the Ga-Mon Church immediately began glowering at Sol. However, at the same time, they were confused as to why their Blessed Child was allowing this person to touch him so casually.

Disciples from Holy Sects and Great Clans were also looking in this direction with strange expressions. From merely looking at the surface, the relationship between Sol and Althorne seemed close.

Sol wasn’t paying attention to the surrounding disciples’ reactions, instead, his fingers were slowly entangling themselves in Althorne’s hair while his inner thoughts spun and spun.

’By his reaction, it seems my dance also resonated with him. But I wonder who his desire for revenge is targeted towards. Is it his own Church? I’ve heard from Brother Cian that members of his Church have been ostracizing him since he was young. Or is it the Royal Families? His father is from the Dwarven Race, which means he is a descendant of the Races who were kicked out of the Beorhtric Family’s territory and died on their journey to the Church. Or maybe it’s both, but if it’s both then his ambitions aren’t as simple as Brother Cian make them out to be.’

As Sol was in his thoughts, Althorne suddenly sighed and said.

"It seems I’ve said too much. But Brother Sol, since I’ve revealed this much about myself, why don’t you share something with me as well? Is there a theme of revenge in your life?"

Althorne leaned forward to get a better look at Sol’s face. Sol turned to look down at him before saying.

"You’re the one who brought up the theme of my dance, you obviously intended for this conversation to go in this direction."

Althorne smiled.

"So, you won’t tell me?"

Althorne asked, not denying Sol’s claim.

After a moment of silence, Sol chuckled and said.

"What is there to tell? After my home was destroyed by your Church all I can think about is getting revenge."

Althorne couldn’t help but freeze when he heard that. He looked at Sol, his smile no longer there as he asked.

"Brother Sol, are you sure this is something you should share, especially with someone like me? Aren’t you afraid I’ll use this against you?"

Sol pressed his hand onto Althorne’s head and gave it a good rub before retrieving it. He then looked at Yoon-jae and the others at the table as he said.

"I didn’t say anything you haven’t already thought of, right? You just needed confirmation, so you told me your story without actually telling me to get me to talk."

Althorne fixed his messy hair before he looked at Sol and said with a beaming smile.

"I knew from the moment I met you that you’re just like me. Brother Sol, do you want to be my friend?"

Sol turned to look at Althorne, his smiling expression gone, replaced by a placid look. He then shook his head and said.

"I’m definitely nothing like you."

Althorne was about to deny that claim, but Sol suddenly interrupted him.

"I know what you’re thinking. That I came here in search of power to take revenge on the Church, and I surrounded myself with people like Brother Ushi and Brother Byeong-ho to do so. You are right that I came here seeking power, but you are wrong that I’m like you who would use people to achieve this. I didn’t purposely seek out the friends I have, it happened naturally."

Upon hearing that, for the first time, an emotion appeared on Althorne’s face that could be said to be genuine.

It was disappointment.

Althorne silently looked down at his feet as he stirred in this emotion. It was something he hadn’t felt in a long, long time. He even touched his chest where his heart was as if couldn’t believe what he was feeling was real.

It was true, he initially thought Sol was in a similar situation to himself. In an unfamiliar place, surrounded by people who wouldn’t hesitate to betray them in a heartbeat due to their origins, while not having a place to call home.

At first, Althorne had tried to approach Sol due to the reputation he had, but the reaction Sol had given him when they first made it seem as if he was looking at a mirror. After doing some investigation, he found that Sol’s background was extremely mysterious. No one knew who his parents were or how he had such capabilities before entering the Academy. It was to the point that he gained the moniker, ’Heavenly Descending Dragon of Jianghu’ because he just appeared out of nowhere.

Perhaps the only information about him was that he had lived on the outskirts of the Eternal Desert before coming to Jianghu. But, while others might believe that Althorne didn’t, especially after seeing the type of friends Sol had.

Althorne felt as if he was really looking at himself.

After placing himself in Sol’s position and seeing the dislike Sol had for those from his Church, it wasn’t hard for Althorne to guess Sol’s true identity. His approach towards Sol then became more than just intrigue after that.

Unlike himself, Althorne wasn’t thinking about knowing everything about his new enemy.

Althorne truly thought that he might have found someone he could call a friend. However, his hope resulted in this feeling in his chest.

Althorne massaged his chest as he muttered under his breath.

"I guess we can’t be friends. But if you aren’t my friend, then..."

Althorne let his words trail off before he turned and walked away; heading to the exit that led below the deck. Sol turned and watched his back as he walked off, his placid expression making it hard to tell what he was thinking.

After watching Althorne disappear into the crowd, Sol turned his gaze back onto the celebrating disciples. However, he suddenly saw someone push Yoon-jae towards a clearing that the disciples made.

Upon seeing this, Sol’s eyes widen slightly.

"Ah, is Brother Yoon-jae going to dance as well?"

Sol quickly stepped forward not wanting to miss this.
