The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 65: Desires and Obsessions (2)
Chapter 65: Desires and Obsessions (2)
He never thought of it this way. Or it would be more accurate to say that Arren never considered this question before.
What was the reason he reincarnated in this world? It might be because this was the novel he read before he died. That could be a reason, but Arren read a lot more stories in the hospital and indulged himself with reading novels until his last breath. So why this story and not the others?
Or was it because this story was the most memorable for him?
And now that the questions had been asked, it was like opening Pandora’s box, which led to another and seemingly endless series of questions. What was the truth? Was there any truth to this, or was it just a coincidence?
Rave fell silent, but he watched Arren intently. He now appeared taken aback by this question, and he needed to consider how to answer it—or even be curious about it too.
"Why are you asking this?" Instead of an answer, Rave returned a question for him, observing his expression.
Arren was fearless as well; he didn’t avert his eyes. He wasn’t afraid that Rave would feel suspicious of him or have the idea that he was reincarnated here as Arren. Was it because of his confidence? No, because Rave would never think in that direction.
Rave’s logical thinking and calmness were both his strengths and weaknesses. That’s the biggest difference between Rave and Arren.
Rave always made sure that his plan made sense and was perfectly shaped into a box without the wrong angle, while Arren would shape his box along the way, and it was even possible that the result was not a box at all but something else. One deals with the problem with reaon while the other bypass reason entirely, he would make his own reason.
Arren grinned and rested his head on the arm rest, appearing to be sleepy.
"I’m just curious. How intense can that desire be if that is the case? To be able to transcend time and death." Arren spoke, marveling at the idea.
"That’s not desire, that’s already an obsession." Rave argued, shaking his head and starting to look at the iPad once more.
Arren fell silent and shut his eyes. Desires or obsessions were all the same thing for him.
In the end, they had to stop at that conversation, and Arren didn’t get Rave’s opinion with his questions. The white-haired omega had already focused on tutoring him and Arren, even though he really didn’t want it and decided to focus on his studies for now.
At least, that seemingly deep conversation had the result he wanted. closing the distance between him and Rave. He had a long way to go, but Arren wasn’t in a hurry.
Arren didn’t get Rave’s opinion but the his question that afternoon for Rave lingered on his mind that it was also uttered for Spade.
"Why are you asking this?" Spade asked as he changed Arren’s bandage; they were in the bed. Arren was leaning on the headboard, a cushion on his lap as he played his fingers around it.
"I’m just curious, is it really possible?" Arren’s tone was indeed full of curiosity. Even his demeanor was different when he was talking with Rave. This time, he actually didn’t care if Spade could perceive what was hidden in his question or if the alpha could suspect that he was reincarnated.
Arren even wanted Spade to learn about it gradually so that telling him things would be easier in the future. He watched his alpha changed carefully his bandaged and even massaging it for a bit.
"It’s possible," Spade responded to his question. Arren thought he would say something else, but other than those two words, he fell silent again and concentrated on what he was doing.
"Really? Do you really think it’s possible?" Arren urged on; he wanted to know Spade’s opinion so much. Other than his own opinion, Arren really loved to hear Spade’s attractive voice.
Spade raised his head and looked at Arren, his lips curled in a smile.
"You’re so curious about this?" The alpha asked, even though it was already obvious that Arren was indeed interested in this conjecture.
Arren nodded his head, and a smile now also appeared on his lips as if affected by Spade.
Spade chuckled, feeling amused once more by Arren’s reaction. He was already finished with Arren’s foot. It wasn’t swollen anymore, but it still had a terrifying bruise on it.
It wasn’t like he didn’t take this question seriously; instead, it even evoked an emotion within him. Spade pondered the possibility of intense desire and obsession being passed down through reincarnation.
Resaon told him that it wasn’t possible or that reincarnation wasn’t real. However, a small part of him seemed to agree with this question so strongly that he seemed certain of the answer.
Spade wasn’t only indulging Arren and making him feel better for his crazy ideas and curiosity. That really was his real thought. It was possible for a deeper obsession to linger even in the next life.
With this realization, Spade frowned slightly. What made him so certain?
"Are you upset? I’m sorry, I’m just really curious about this." Arren’s voice woke Spade from his thoughts.
The moment he fixed his gaze on the omega again, amidst the beautiful image of the omega, something flashed in his vision. It was only a split second, not even enough to clearly see the image. However, that was enough for him, as if the image had been deeply imprinted in his deepest consciousness.
Spade froze as his heart pounded, and then he blinks. Was it an illusion? For a moment, he seemed to see... Arren was smiling at him, but his eyes were hollow, with blood streaming from the corners of his eyes instead of tears.
"Spade... Spade!" Arren’s voice woke him up again, but this time the tone had some panic in it. Spade stared at the omega.
Arren’s expression was filled with worry as he looked at him.
"what’s wrong? You’re suddenly silent, and you’ve even become pale and are only looking at me. What happened?" Arren inquired once more, if not for his foot that was preventing his mobility, he might have long since closed the distance between them.
The pounding of his heart was still so overwhelming Arren’s voice that he couldn’t hear it clearly. Spade also discovered that at some point his hands had grown cold, and they trembled.
"Spade! What’s wrong, I’m getting worried. Please, answer me." Arren’s tone now was completely filled with worry, and it even appeared he was about to cry if Spade continued to blank out and be unresponsive.
Spade finally gathered himself, and he didn’t answer Arren yet but slowly engulfed him in his embrace. It was almost as if Spade was afraid that Arren would escape his grip or vanish in his arms if he let go for a moment.
Arren was also not escaping the tight embrace and even returned the embrace, even stroking Spade’s back. As though the omega could sense what he was feeling at the moment.
He was afraid. No... that wasn’t the right word. Spade was terrified.
"Spade? I’m here, I won’t leave you." Arren’s voice sounded beside him, calming some of his chaotic thoughts.
Spade nodded while burying his head in the omega’s shoulders and inhaling heavily, allowing Arren’s pheromones to calm him down.
He didn’t know what the meaning of the image was that he had seen. Was that an illusion? Why was it appeared so vivid? Spade tried to forget the horrifying image inside his mind.
Suddenly, Arren’s question flashed through his mind once more. Obsession that lingered in the next life...
