Chapter 63: Team Up (3)

It was even more convenient to conduct the investigation in secret. So, the official investigation team could only be considered a decoy, while the secret investigation was the real official one.

They only discuss some of their team’s preliminary plans because they do not yet have any official plans. As their team was sudden and had only begun, they needed to adapt themselves. Well, everyone was aware this was only Spade’s consideration for Rave.

And one other reason was that it was already late, and Arren needed to take a rest. Possibly the most significant reason for him

As part of their initial plan, Levin would mostly communicate with Rave and exchange the information that they both gathered. Although they have talked and exchanged information before, this would only make it official.

Since no one was actually aware that Rave or Levin were detained because of that incident in the club aside from the loyal royal guards, they were released without any process; only Spade’s words were needed.

They would only talk after, and the four of them dismissed.

"Are you that happy?" Spade’s deep voice rang beside his ears. They were lying on his bed, ready to sleep.

Arren raised his head and instantly met Spade’s gaze. He had a grin on his face as he nodded.

"Yes, I’m happy. Is it obvious?" Arren chuckled and scooted closer to the alpha.

He was truly delighted that they teamed up this early; it might not have quite an effect this early, but he had a hunch that it would play a significant role later on. And in Arren’s opinion, the halo of the three of them was enough to blind most of their bad luck. This conjecture has yet to be proved, but who knows in the future?

Spade’s gaze softened as he stroked Arren’s blue, which made the latter comfortable and drowsy.

"I can see that you are so fond of that omega." He said, although with his soft tone, it only appeared as though he was stating the obvious.

Since before, Spade already noticed that Arren was attentive to some of Rave’s affairs. And how he looked at the omega, it was as if looking at his long time friend... no, more like looking at someone he admired from afar.

He wasn’t jealous, as he wasn’t that unreasonable; on the contrary, Spade was only curious and interested about it.

Arren only smiled. He didn’t agree, but his answer was already obvious from the start, and he didn’t have any intention to hide it from Spade since it wasn’t that important.

Actually, as he would make a lot of questionable and suspicious actions in the future, Arren really didn’t have any intention of hiding anything from the alpha. He was being open and obvious about it without addressing or telling the alpha about it.

In the first place, he wasn’t truly a good liar, and he didn’t think he had to hide anything. Perhaps he would just tell Spade everything once the alpha couldn’t help it anymore and ask him. For now, he could only wait for the right time.

"Spade, do you trust me?" This time, his voice was soft, but there was a hint of expectation and anxiety in his tone. He asked without breaking eye contact with Spade.

The alpha seemed to sense that this question carried a lot of weight, and his expression also turned solemn, although the soft gaze in his eyes while looking at him didn’t diminish in the slightest and even softened slightly more.

Spade’s hold on him tightened, and even the embrace seemed warmer than usual.

"Of course, I trust you," he answered, his voice much deeper than usual. Arren closed his eyes as the alpha kissed the space between his eyebrows, and then the alpha continued, "So, don’t be burdened. Just do what you want to do."

Arren couldn’t help but bury his face in the alpha’s chest, his heart racing. Seriously, he knew that Spade would notice it, so Arren didn’t have any intention to hide and burn his brain cells to think of roundabout ways to tell any information he knew.

Nonetheless, having his alpha’s acknowledgement and support overwhelmed him with emotions.

"I like you so much, you know that too, right?" Arren could only voice out these genuine words out loud, as this was really all he could think of at the moment.

The alpha chuckled slightly, making the strong chest vibrate slightly. "Mm, I like you too," kissed the top of his head and stroking his back. "More than you know," Spade mumbled.

Arren smiled, and his heart became comfortable in his alpha’s embrace. He wanted to say, he knows. Only a few minutes later, he didn’t, allowing the comfortable silence to envelope them. His breath became steady as he finally fell asleep.

Spade’s eyes were shut; however, his mind was still active. He only embraced the omega in his arms as he thought of Arren and the chaos that might happen in the Empire.

A few moments later, he sighed and glanced at Arren, who was now peacefully sleeping then he kissed his forehead before loooking at the distance. His amber eyes darkening slightly.

"A crisis is approaching," his deep voice rang out in the quiet room before he too fell asleep.

The next day, Arren was the only one left in the room. Although he ate breakfast together with Spade, However, at the end of the day, Spade was still the Emperor, and he had his duties and responsibilities waiting for him to take care of.

Arren could understand this; when he decided to become together with the alpha, he was already aware of all these things, and their relationship would never be like any other normal couple’s.

"Ahh... it’s boring," Arren yawned and lazily put his chin on his hand that was resting on the arm rest of his seat.

Because of his injury, he couldn’t really attend school, and he still needed a week to rest his foot before he could try to walk on his own, albeit with support. Since the total recovery of his foot was four weeks.

Now that he was in this position, he couldn’t help but clench his teeth at the person who had carelessly stepped on the top of his foot. Fuck, if only he could track down that woman.

"Young Master Arren, this is your tea." A soft voice instantly woke him up from his thoughts.

He looked at the omega in front of him, who was still as gracious as ever. Arren admitted to himself that if no one looked at Rave’s royal attendant uniform, they would mistake him for one of the nobles instead. He was even more noble than Arren himself.

However, it wasn’t that surprising, as Rave was born an aristocrat to begin with. While Arren never bothered with polishing his etiquette to become an ideal noble omega.

Arren smiled and picked up the teacup to sip some tea, his brows wrinkling slightly. He never understood the noble’s addiction to tea so much. Was it because it was more classy?

The reason Rave was with him was because he was the one assigned by Spade to be Arren’s personal attendant while he was staying in the palace. Even if Spade hadn’t voluntarily assigned the white-haired omega, Arren would request Rave no matter what.

He wasn’t giving up yet on getting closer to the omega. And now that they had the same goal, it wasn’t impossible. Arren looked at the omega in front of him and didn’t even try to hide his gaze.

"I heard your grades are good in university?" Arren began their conversation; he couldn’t think of anything to say..

Talking about the investigation at this moment would only make it an official matter, and Arren didn’t want a solemn atmosphere. He wanted to become friends with Rave and not just a team member.

Arren wasn’t naive; he noticed that at this moment, the omega still appeared reserved and distant from him. He didn’t know why. Was he unapproachable?

Well, back to the topic, talking about the grades was only a perfect conversation starter since Arren is currently taking online classes. He was back in the damn online class, and this time he was even more meticulous. Was Spade have any intention to let him continue taking online classes for his whole semester? No, he wouldn’t agree!

Rave seemed also taken aback by his question, but he only nodded.

"I’m not at the top, but I can say it’s good," Rave honestly answered.

Arren nodded, satisfied with the answer. He knew Rave wouldn’t be answering vaguely and humbly at all. And as he put down the teacup and looked at Rave, his gaze was bright.

"Can you tutor me?" Arren requested something out of the blue; truly, he only thought instantly. He didn’t care about his grades because, at the end of the day, he would inherit some of his father’s businesses and even the noble title. So, as long as he passed, it was enough for Arren.

But in front of Rave, he couldn’t think of anything else. Like how he always was, the moment the words came out of his lips, he would defend them and stick to them until the very end.
