Chapter 47: The Protagonist, Rave Amos

"Nothing, I just thought of... the rumors about you were true." Levin shrugged off and casually said. His tone became softer as he did so.

This time, Arren was taken aback. He knitted his brows, his expressions especially easy to read too.

"What rumors?" he now asked, confused. He had a lot of rumors about him, so he didn’t know what Levin was referring to.

Levin’s smile widened, "That you’re the most beautiful omega and... so unlike an omega." He whispered, honestly stating his thoughts.

There was always a rumor in the nobility circle about Arren’s beauty and, some of them, about him being a dominant omega.

A light shone in Arren’s eyes, nodded, simply taking this statement without care. If anything, he was tired of it. It could be exciting at first, but it would fade eventually. So, that was it.

His earnest expression dimmed. Arren thought he would get some kind of scoop from the male lead, which turned out to be some useless rumor confirmation. He ended their uninteresting topic there.

Arren glanced to the side and looked at the cars that were parked in front of him. Then, he returned his gaze to Levin, who only waited at him as they stood together. He lifted his eyebrow, "I get that I’ll be going to the Palace... but isn’t it too exaggerated?" His tone was full of doubts. He didn’t get the need for a convoy at all. It would only be too eye-catching.

As though the Alpha could understand his doubts. Levin nodded at him, glanced at the side, then returned to him.

"It was the Emperor’s order to keep your safety," He only informed, without elaborating at all. After all, some mice were already being restless and could be running around foolishly for some information.

Not for long, the Emperor’s affairs would already be circulating to these rats. Might as well unofficially announce it. Spade wasn’t the one who would wait passively, after all. As long as, Arren’s real identity wouldn’t be exposed this early on. Especially, Arren’s life wasn’t free from threat yet.

Arren nodded as he heard Levin mention Spade and that it was his order. He didn’t say anything else afterward. His heart jumped, though, his lips threatening to curve a smile. Seriously, why was his Alpha too overprotective?

He didn’t even ask or forget the identity of the one with him. If it were him before, his brain would already be malfunctioning as he tried to think of anything to escape or make countermeasures.

Now, he could even daydream and not even care. His mentality had truly changed. Perhaps, his feelings for Spade helped, and even what happened to him became a lesson. Even though he wanted an uncomplicated life, it didn’t mean destiny would give it to him. Sometimes, running away and escaping wasn’t always a good choice.

Their journey to the palace was extremely smooth, without any traffic interruptions. As Levin advised Arren not to open the car window, in the end, he didn’t look outside the window at all during their car ride. Perhaps, they used some kind of private road. He didn’t know; he only listened to some music on his phone.

Arren wasn’t new to the palace. His status was high enough even to visit it every week. While he said that, that doesn’t mean he was also familiar with it. Since he almost avoided this place, he might as well say that he was extremely new to the palace.

Still, Arren was still aware that they didn’t enter the palace through the front entrance. He casually followed the attendant that received him as soon as he stepped out of the car. Levin and the others were spread out, and some were following with him as well.

He only strode normally, not looking around. He didn’t care much. He had enough appreciated the grandeur of the palace before. The long, silent hallway appeared solemn, with only the sound of their shoes and sandals hitting the marble floor. This kind of atmosphere was even more tranquil than their mansion.

They didn’t encounter anyone, not even royal attendants. As though the hallway was purposely cleared for him. He raised his brows at this thought, and a ghost of a smile appeared on his red lips. This seemed simple, but the thought of his Alpha doing all this for him made him giddy inside.

Damn, why was his Alpha too fucking attentive? And to think he still hesitated because of his misconception? He shook his head; he was too dumb before.

The attendant opened a room for Arren. He didn’t say anything else. Seriously, these attendants were too disciplined. He couldn’t even ask them about Spade. He smiled at the attendant after, only to be returned with a bow, his lips twitched.

Whatever, he should get used to it. The hierarchy in this world was too deep. Even with his more than twenty years in this world, he still had yet to adapt sometimes. Perhaps, it could also be attributed to the fact that he never hung out with those nobles.

Arren glanced around the room as he stood. The room was only a small waiting room. The interior was majestic yet simple as well, without anything extravagant. As he was observing the room, the silent attendant, who he didn’t know if a beta or an omega, spoke.

"Young Master, His Majesty wants me to inform you that he will meet you once he finishes his sudden meeting." The attendant said in a respectful tone as she bowed soon after. She then stepped out of the room, leaving Arren speechless.

Arren stared at the closed door as he blinked, stunned. Damn, what just happened?

A few seconds later, Arren shook his head and didn’t mind this behavior anymore. He glanced around again as he waited for Spade to come. A minute later, though, the door opened. Arren instantly glanced at the door, confused that Spade had finished his meeting quickly.

However, once he saw who entered the room. He was almost frozen in place, staring as he couldn’t stop himself from gaping. Damn, what was going on? Arren didn’t know what his luck was that he met the two most important characters of this world, at least in the novel, today.

His delicate features and even height almost confirmed his gender type. However, what gave way to his identity was his white hair. Arren was sure he was Rave Amos--the protagonist of the novel he read.

Rave bowed in front of him, and his gentle appearance showed a light and friendly expression. Even the respectful smile that curled on his lips. With the person in front of him, Arren saw what an omega truly looked like. Rave Amos was the definition of a graceful omega and yet had such a strong personality. The then-fictional character who inspired Arren on his deathbed.

With his thoughts, Arren couldn’t react for a moment and only stared at Rave. While the omega only waited without meeting his gaze. He really was in front of him, in the flesh. Arren didn’t know why; as he looked at the omega... his heart had that inexplicable emotion slowly surging within him. It wasn’t the kind of desire he wanted to be intimate with him, but more of the desire to know what would happen and the conclusion of his life.

It was a kind of anticipation for the unknown.

Arren smiled, waking up from his thoughts, as he spoke with such a sweet and lighter tone as if talking to his friend. For Arren, Rave was really a friend.

"I’m sorry," He started, glancing at the service trolley full of snacks and a teacup. "Finally, I’m quite starving," He laughed and helped the omega to serve the food on the table.

While doing so, he couldn’t help but sneakily glance at his side. Arren was well aware that the omega was doing the same thing. Contrary to his too delicate of an appearance, Rave was quite perspective. In the first place, he wanted to become an attendant in the palace to uncover the secrets of his parent’s death and their family’s downfall.

Arren licked his lips and sat on the couch. He glanced at the omega as he served him tea. He then looked at his soft white hair, which was more conspicuous than his blue hair.

"Your hair looks good." He spoke as though only a clumsy compliment, then continued, "Look at my hair. I love to dye my hair too." Arren even brushed his hair to prove his point, his eyes never leaving the omega.

Rave’s action stopped for a moment before it continued. He lifted his head and met Arren’s gaze. The soft features of his face were in contrast to Arren’s intimidating appearance. Rave put down the teapot and stood straight at the side.

He reached out for his white hair, eyes almost lost, "Thank you, Young Master." He spoke, mellow voice resounding in Arren’s ear. "It is actually my natural hair," he smiled and returned his gaze to Arren.

"Oh, really? That was amazing." Arren, as though stunned, even made his eyes widen as he stared again into the omega’s hair as though he was envious of it. While the omega, only smiled again.

The atmosphere was harmonious, and yet it wasn’t as well. Arren knew Rave was always in his guarded state in the palace.

He wasn’t surprised by Rave’s answer, since that is his purpose in the first place. With the information, he still remembered, Rave had a rare condition when he was young. His gene and pheromones conflicted with each other. freewēbnoveℓ.com
