The Demon Lord's Bride (BL)-Chapter 679: I would face this world, but I need a nap first
Chapter 679: I would face this world, but I need a nap first
"Child...golem?"
D’Ara blinked in bewilderment at the sudden request. Well, it was understandable. Asking for a golem was like asking for a luxury car back on Earth. No matter how rich you were, wouldn’t you be surprised if a child suddenly asked you for a mini Bentley?
Even if you were the factory owner.
"Mm! Jade want golem that look like Jade," the little boy nodded eagerly while wiping his tears.
Just so you know, those were real tears, and Jade was truly upset before. It wasn’t a scam. I didn’t teach him to do that. Okay?
"Looks...like you?"
Jade nodded and brought his hand to his head. "Umm...as tall as Jade!"
I was rather worried before, but fortunately, D’Ara didn’t seem upset. More like confused. "Why suddenly?"
"Because Shwa too small," Jade pursed his lips and made a sullen expression. "Shwa take long time to grow!"
Oh, look at that. I was right about him being impatient.
"And Shwa always with Papa! Jade can’t play with Shwa and can’t play with Papa!" the little foot stomped on the ground again. "Jade bored! Jade lonely!"
Ah.
"Don’t you have Shiny, now?" I tilted my head.
"But Shiny small!"
"Right..."
Oh, well...he did have no one his age in the Castle. That was why Jade always eagerly played with any children he met outside.
"Oh, fine," D’Ara chuckled while squeezing Jade’s chubby cheeks. "I’ll make you one after we’re done with everything."
The round green eyes widened and sparkled with brilliant stars. Jade raised his arms and jumped up and down--no trace of tears or sulk could be found on his face. "Yay! Yay! Thank you, Teacher!"
"Are we good now?"
"Yes!"
"Gimme a kiss," D’Ara turned her face, and Jade kissed her cheek without hesitation, hugging the vampire mother.
After the heartfelt hug, Jade presented his initial bribe with high sincerity. "This is for Teacher! Jade prepare all of them!"
"Oh, my..." D’Ara laughed and squeezed Jade’s cheeks again. "Thank you, sweetling."
Wow...the bribe was a success. A luxury android just like that.
After sampling several chocolates to appease Jade further, D’Ara finally returned to her dignified self and turned around to face us, the adults. "Now, what is the reason you are calling me?"
"Not far from what Jade was asking," I shrugged.
"Hmm?" she tilted her head before the ruby eyes narrowed. "Wait..."
She turned her head to where Stan was standing on the side, looking like an armored knight with a cloak.
"Huh..."
She turned her body now, so she would face the golem’s direction. She tilted her head to the left and right, even bending her waist as if she was trying to see him from as much angle as she could. And then she straightened her back, but put on a strange expression before exclaiming.
"Huh?!"
I raised my brows expectantly. "Oh--you recognize him?"
"I think so, but..." she turned toward me and took a seat before the special tray that Jade prepared. Taking a cookie, she gestured with her chin and ordered. "Tell me everything from the start."
And so, I started to tell her about how and where I found Stan, what he looked like before, and how I asked Neel to modify him so he could compress himself and come here. I skipped the part where he looked at Shwa and recognized that my baby had the same mana as his creator--since Eruha and the twins were there--just straight up telling D’Ara that Stan recognized his creator as ’The One’ and that there was a trace of memory erasure in his core.
At the end of my explanation, D’Ara let out a long, hearty laugh that could be heard all the way to the lower floor--or so the maids told me.
After the long introduction, Stan took a few steps closer, casting a heavy sound in the living room. "Do you...no--did you know me?"
"Oh, now that I heard the story--yeah, I did," she replied after finishing her second cookie. "At least, I think so."
"Oh? So it was true? He was made by the...Primordial One?" I asked curiously.
D’Ara smiled deeply. "Oh, yes."
"Wow..."
"Indeed," the ruby eyes gleamed. "After all, this one was supposed to be a Sacred Guardian."
I froze; Natha froze, Neel froze everyone froze. Only Jade and Shwa made a confused sound as everyone looked paralyzed. And there was only one thing I could say at this point.
"What?!"
And so, we were sitting there--and standing--while listening to D’Ara’s story, which more or less went like this:
The Primordial One knew the children often bickered with each other. Playfully, a golem was created to be an impartial judge. Of course, since the ’children’ had the power to destroy the land and the sea and the sky and everything, the ’judge’ should be strong enough.
The first, second, and third golems were destroyed during the bickering process. The playful project, afterward, became a serious one. D’Ara was born around the time before the third golem was destroyed, so the curious newborn was there to observe when the fourth one was created.
That was the birth of the Guardian Golem and D’Ara, the future golem maker.
Since it had become a serious project, a huge amount of care was put in. From the materials and the core formations, it was something that even the current D’Ara, after millennia of experiment, could not achieve. Each material was magical, and some were even no longer around. Some needed such a complex synthesization that unless the Primordial One personally made it again, something like this guardian golem wouldn’t come out again.
"By definition, the Golem at that time was qualified to be called a Sacred Guardian--the Impartial Judge that was supposed to make sure the world ran in harmony even after the Primordial One vanished."
I couldn’t help but raise my brow in surprise. "Harmony..."
That was such a big coincidence.
"Ah..." Neel, who had been silent before, finally spoke. "That’s why implanting Valen’s commandment wasn’t hard. It lined up perfectly with his original one."
That wasn’t hard? Even though it took eight hours or so? How long would it take if it was very hard? Days? Months?
Phew...
"But how did he end up in the ruin?" my brows furrowed dubiously. "And he got nerfed so much--I mean...after facing him, I don’t think his power would be enough to face any Sacred Guardian--like you--much less any deity."
So suspicious. How suspicious.
Unfortunately, after feeling inspired by the Primordial One’s golem creation, D’Ara focused on creating such a thing--even though she knew she couldn’t make one as good as the ’judge’. She only observed up to the point where the Golem successfully separated the bickering deities without getting destroyed and then went into isolation study--just like Neel.
And so, she had no idea what happened until the Primordial One vanished. When she came out, the world was divided into three, and the Guardian Golem was nowhere to be seen.
"Did you say some of your memory was erased?" D’Ara turned toward Stan again.
The golem nodded. "I believe so."
She smiled and asked the golem lightheartedly. "Would you like me to return it, your memory?" freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"You can??" Neel and I asked at the same time.
"I could try," D’Ara shrugged.
Neel took a sharp, deep breath as if she were the one whose memory would get restored. I knew very well that she wanted to be there in the process. While I didn’t mind asking D’Ara whether or not that would be allowed, we still needed to ask the mighty golem in question first.
"How about it, Stan?"
"Pfft--" D’Ara covered her mouth as she almost spit out her wine.
"Ugh--I know," I let out a sigh and changed my question. "Umm...do you want to change your name...Stan?"
I had no idea what his initial name was, but I was sure it wouldn’t be just...Stan. Whatever it was, I was sure it wouldn’t be a simple one-syllable name a mortal like me thought in a fly.
"No, there’s no need for it," the golem shook his head slightly--and slowly. "It was the name I received from you, who completed my first duty, and gave birth to my creator. I do not mind the name."
Oh, you made me blush. "Umm...thank you," I smiled wryly.
So he said, but who knew if he still wanted to keep the name after his memory was restored?
Curiously, I whispered to D’Ara. "What’s his real name?"
"What’s the use of knowing that now?" she chuckled. "He said he’d use it, so that is what matters."
"Ungh--I feel guilty..."
"Why should you?"
"Then don’t laugh!" I hissed.
D’Ara pressed her twitching lips and patted my cheek. "I’m sorry, sweetling. I just couldn’t help it."
Haa...I sighed and turned toward Stan again. The initial question had almost been forgotten. "So, how is it? Do you want your memory to be restored?"
"Will it help?"
"It might tell us what happened before you became the relic’s guardian," I shrugged, and then remembered something when I looked at my baby. "Maybe it will get you stronger, too? I don’t know, honestly."
That was what D’Ara said about Shwa anyway--memory sealed along with power. I had no idea if the concept worked for a golem, but...
"Very well. We shall restore the memory."
At the positive answer, Neel jumped up in anticipation, staring at me without blinking as if she were trying to hypnotize me. I pressed my lips and asked D’Ara if it was possible for Neel to observe the process--naturally, I mentioned that she was the one who modified and placed the current commandments.
Surprisingly--or not--D’Ara agreed, and after playing with Shwa until the baby fell asleep, she snapped her fingers, taking Stan and Neel inside the red mist.
Just like that, she disappeared. I blinked several times before exhaling slowly for the whirlwind of morning and turned toward Natha. "I need to know what is happening in the Human Realm, but first--" I sighed. "I need some sleep."
