Chapter 39 - The Contract of Eternal Balance

The night was quiet, almost unnaturally so. A faint breeze rustled through the overgrown grove where Zen often trained alone. Standing beneath the full moon's pale gaze, Zen's expression was lost in thought. Sword in hand, yet unmoving—he wasn't here to train tonight.

He stared up toward the canopy, the stars beyond, wondering: What is mana core? How does it form inside one's body...? Zen didn't have a mana core. He knew that. So why did the concept of mana pull at his mind so insistently?

That night, Zen didn't practice. He let the question rest in his heart like a silent ember. He returned to his room and got a little sleep before the sun rose.

Morning – Nourishment Hall

Zen met Lyra, who greeted him with her usual smile, waving a roll in one hand. Arisella followed behind, graceful and collected as always. The three of them shared breakfast together at their usual table.

Lyra teased Zen as he quietly munched on his meal. "Did you forget how to use a spoon again, dummy?" she smirked.

Zen replied calmly, "Didn't know spoons came with instructions."

Arisella chuckled lightly. "You two are my favorite morning entertainment."

The playful atmosphere made the meal pass quickly.

Classroom – A New Professor Arrives

Later, the Aetherion classroom buzzed with curiosity. A new figure walked in—a tall man with white-silver hair, half-moon glasses, and a coat of star-stamped runes. His presence silenced the room.

"Good morning, young ones. I am Professor Elowen Rael."

His voice was calm, scholarly. "I study ancient magic, long-lost sword forms, and the arcane history of our world. Today, you'll learn about something that even most nobles never hear in their lifetime."

The lecture began with theories on forgotten spells and sword techniques once used by heroes of legend. Every word carried the weight of centuries.

Then a sharp voice broke the focus.

Kyrien Duskmoor, a noble on the front row, raised his hand. "Professor, you speak of six gods who shaped our world. But what of the seventh—the so-called 'God of Eternity'? If there are only six... which world does he belong to?"

A murmur spread through the class.

Professor Elowen closed his book slowly. "Ah... the God of Eternity. A forbidden name in some cultures. A mystery to others."

He stepped forward. "According to ancient records, he is a being who controls time itself. He can cross the veil between life and death and also can control, command realities even other gods fear to touch."

He paused.

"360,000 years ago, when demons and humans clashed in the Great War, it was this god who saved humanity. He sealed the Demon God with his own hands, ending the war."

The class listened in awe.

But Elowen's eyes darkened slightly.

"However, a strange event occurred years later. While sealed, the Demon God summoned the God of Eternity and...proposed a contract or a request

Professor Elowen's voice deepened, drawing every student's attention like a spell.

> "The Demon God made one final request to the God of Eternity:

'Kill me—not for vengeance, but for balance.'"

He walked slowly across the front of the class, eyes thoughtful.

> "If the God of Eternity accepted the contract and ended his life, the Demon God's soul would be freed—but scattered and unable to return to a physical form for countless eons. Thousands upon thousands of years."

The crystal board behind him shimmered with the image of a shadowy demon fading into a starlit void.

> *"But if the Demon God remained sealed, he warned...

'Every demon will begin to hate—hate you, hate humanity, and hate the world.

That hatred will grow, evolve... and one day, no human in this world will be able to kill a single demon.'"

"After that, the God of Eternity accepted the contract. He killed the Demon god and vanished. After that, Some say the God of eternity died. Some believe he became the universe itself—watching from beyond."

The words sank in like a heavy stone.

"Ancient scrolls call God of Eternity the Seventh... but no one knows the truth."

After the demon god died, the Demon God's soul never formed a body.

"His soul sealed in the void for 359,500 years, his soul drifted beyond time.

He returned 500 years ago—silent, unseen.

Now, in the present era, whispers echo once more...

The Demon God rises."

Demon god reborn not as a legend, but as the Sixth God—enemy of humanity, and doom to the world itself.
