The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 60
Chapter 60: Chapter 60
There was a loud sobbing noise and then a male voice in the unused hallway that Keelion was just about to pass by.
Someone shouted in a plea. A voice that he could recognize even in his sleep.
Then an irritated grunt from the supposed male.
Keelion paused. Alexis? He skipped to the hallway, clicking on the switch that turned on the chandelier.
He fisted his hands.
Augustus. What the fuck is he doing?
Alexis was pinned to the wall, forcefully being stripped by him despite her teary face of a mess and all the begging she was spitting out.
How dare he touch her...? Had he lost his mind?
Red filled Keelion’s vision. Pure unsuppressed rage burned inside of him and he stormed towards them without a second thought, snatching Augustus by the wrist, every intention down to the last being to break his wrist.
The anger he felt, rattled like it could burst right out of his chest, tempting him to almost rub his chest and breathe.
She was delicate, his mate. Tough, but she was still delicate. And now that face that was precious—one he adored even if not admittedly was messed up with hot tears.
His jaw ticked and clenched. There was nothing he despised more than men who hurt women, and Augustus wouldn’t be an exception just because he didn’t know she was a woman. Not even Cyrus had been an exception.
"Go. Now!" he rasped.
He watched Alexis putter off with her arms wrapped around her body.
Augustus looked up at him and he knew he was done for. He wasn’t going to hurt Alexis, never had the intention. He just wanted to make a confirmation.
Keelion grabbed him by the neck, and slammed him to the wall, pinning him there. "What the fuck did you think you were doing, Augustus?" he questioned vehemently.
"It’s not—w-what it looks like. I would never hurt anyone. I wasn’t—going—-to hurt—"
"She was crying, and she begged you to stop!" he snarled in his face. His hand tightened at his throat, squeezing just hard enough to restrict his airflow. "How dare you put your hands on her?"
Augustus struggled, but his efforts were more or less futile. "I didn’t—I didn’t know she was a—woman." The man coughed, eyes rolling to the back of his head, nearly losing consciousness.
Keelion shoved him to the floor with a heavy thud and watched him pant in agony.
"How could I know—she was, a she."
"And do you think because you didn’t know, you had the right to touch her?" he whispered as he struggled.
Augustus tried as hard as he could to catch his breath. "I was just confused. You have never been into betas and I knew something was off. She hit Althea, and you hate when men put their hands on a woman. It made no sense that you took no action. I just desperately wanted to figure out what was...going on."
Keelion stared down at him in silence.
Slowly, Augustus stilled unnaturally as he took in the expression, the blackness that was beginning to pool in his eyes.
"I want to kill you, Augustus, right here and now, because you deserve it," Keelion said viciously, voice cold. "You’ve always known Alexis was special to me—she meant something to me, whether you believed she was a beta or not. Yet, you still hurt her. I don’t think you have an excuse for that, because you had no right to touch her, not even a hair on her head."
He snatched his chin so roughly, that his elongated claws dug into his flesh so painfully, Augustus began to bleed profusely. The man yanked his head back and stared into his eyes. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Since you’re so curious, I’ll let you in on something." His lips curled into a cruel smile, one Augustus had never glimpsed in ten years of working for him. "Alexis matters more than you could ever imagine. Do you know what she is?"
Augustus rapidly shook his head.
"My mate, something I’d been searching for for twelve years. That is why she’s here. Mine—she’s mine to protect Augustus. Do you even realize what that means? I would kill for her, and you are not an exception. I would bloody my hands over and over again if I had to. But I don’t think you understand that. You violated what was mine."
Augustus’s eyes went incredibly wide. His mate? Alexis? The alpha’s...mate? But if she was, why did she have to pretend to be a man, why did he allow her to work among them? He never would have even thought, talk more of taking the action he did.
"I’m sorry... I never would dare. You know me more than that, sir, I—"
"But your sorry isn’t enough Augustus. I’ll hurt you, I have to. No one gets away with this sort of thing, not even you, I told you, you’re not indispensable. You may be the closest a person could have ever been to me, but not even you would get away with touching what belonged to me. Alexis..."
Pain burned in his chest. "You held her with this hand despite her protest, didn’t you?"
"S-sir..." Augustus breathed in panic.
Keelion smirked, amused. "Oh don’t worry, I won’t cut it off. Because I have a more important job for you, and you’ll eventually need this hand. At the end of the day, you are very important, the only man I trust and the only one I know would never betray me, not even if I were to shatter every bone in your body. But before then, I’ll make sure you are unable to use this hand for a while."
He bored his gaze into Augustus, eyes, pristine black and veiny—hypnotizing and leaving the man still like he was no longer himself.
Keelion ordered, bellowing, "STAB THAT HAND UNTIL IT’S A BLOODY MESS."
Augustus reached for his pocket knife dazedly.
He stabbed into his own hand.
Keelion stood with his hands shoved into the pocket of his casual black slacks, and watched with an unhinged expression on his face.
Almost as if, this still wasn’t enough.
