Tang San's Twin Sister-Chapter 139
Shrek Academy
Tang San felt something tear him apart from the inside out when he suddenly found himself sitting upright in his bed.
He panted, and looking at himself, he noted that he was drenched in cold sweat, grabbing his head as it hurt. Everything hurt. The pain was nothing new for him; he felt it every day when he trained himself to the brink, but this was different. This was as if someone was screaming inside his head.
A nightmare?
He usually didn't have nightmares, and when then, nothing of the sort left him in such a state.
Getting up, knowing he would not be able to sleep much longer, he slipped into a pair of shoes and walked outside, hoping the fresh air would somehow help.
Maybe he was nervous due to the upcoming fight, he mused, but he did not feel nervous. Placing his hand over his heart, he noted it was still beating much faster than usual.
Had something happened to Yin?
He grasped his hair and stroked it out of his face. He hoped nothing had happened. The last letter he had gotten from her had been from when she started towards Vast Sea City.
Except for the incident with Spirit Hall, all had been fine and well. He worried that she may be in trouble again. What if Spirit Hall would go after her when Chen Xin was no longer around to protect her when Haishen could not keep her safe.
He tapped twenty-four moonlight bridges and took out a drawing. He and Tang Yin smiled as she rode on his shoulders with a bright grin. Below, it was marked. T.Y., one of his sisters, many, many sketches. He had sneaked it from her sketchbook to have something to look at on occasion shortly before she had headed off.
He settled down in the garden and tried to calm himself. Stroking over the pencil sketch of his sister laughing, he felt a familiar presence close by, one he had not felt in a while.
Turning around, he spotted him; he had not changed. "Jiang." The century-millennium spirit beast in human form left behind his hiding place and stepped forward into the moonlight. He was taller than him, his long black hair cascading down his back, and his black eyes on Tang San, fully visible despite it being the middle of the night.
It was a full moon.
Tang San noted.
Maybe that was the reason he was not sleeping well. Yin never slept well during the full moon; she always woke him up when she was tossing around when they had still been sharing everything. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Tang San." Jiang greeted him, and they both remained in silence, standing there for a moment. Neither of them was overly talkative, especially with each other. They always spoke little, never quite sure if they liked each other or merely tolerated and respected the presence of the other.
"Tang Yin is not here." Tang San finally informed Jiang after they had been sitting there for a while. "It is not without danger here for you. Be careful. Yin would not take it well if anything happened."
"I will be." Jiang agreed. "I am here to tell you something."
"I assumed so." He and Jiang were not friends. He would not have come here if he had not had to inform Jiang about something.
"Yin has started the Poseidon tests," Jiang said, and Tang San felt worry bubble up inside him. He was curious: How did he know?
"How?"
"I have my ways. I am here because I wanted you to know." Jiang rose and then headed away.
"Why did you approach us?" Tang San asked him.
Jiang turned around. "What do you mean?"
"Why did you approach us? " he asked again. "A century-millennium spirit beast like you, there was no reason at all for you to be at the edge of the forest that day. You...you were approaching us intentionally, right?"
"Maybe I was simply curious." Jiang shrugged.
"You?" Tang San rose from his seat and walked towards Jiang, looking upwards. Jiang was bigger and broader than him, while Tang San was slender and lean. "Only curious? You are the grave keeper. I haven't found a lot about it, but what I found was that you brought destruction and death whenever you appeared. Hence, the name dead moon dragon."
"The Grandmaster must have helped, I see." He said, and Jiang smiled and answered. "You are right, but my intentions mean no harm to Tang Yin."
"I hope so." Tang San glared at Jiang. "Understand Jiang. Yin is my sister and twin; she is a part of me. We have spent most of our lives with each other; she is the one I can always count on even if the world is my enemy, and I will do whatever is necessary to keep her safe. She is all the family I have, half my soul. If anything should happen to her due to you, I will hunt you down to the ends of the earth."
Jiang inclined his head. "I understand."
"Then I will not question or pry." Tang San closed his eyes, feeling resignation and acceptance come over him. "She considers you a dear friend, after all."
"I would love it if you'd consider me a friend as well," Jiang said.
"I don't think that will ever happen," Tang San answered, stroking the sketch again before returning it to his belt and watching how Jiang melted into the shadows, vanishing just as suddenly as he had appeared—as he had always done.
