Chapter 598 - 598

"Jotunheim?"

Odin frowned deeply, as did the others.

The realm of the Frost Giants—one of the Nine Realms?

Why would the vision show Jotunheim?

The next moment, in the snowy landscape, they saw the towering figure of King Laufey wielding his ice hammer, locked in fierce combat with Odin, who held his spear.

"His Majesty Odin is fighting Laufey?"

Heimdall and the others were surprised at first, but didn't think much of it.

In their eyes, Odin's victory was all but certain. How could Laufey, a Frost Giant, possibly defeat him?

But then—they saw the unthinkable.

Laufey's hammer pierced through Odin's abdomen. Blood exploded across the snow.

Impossible!

In shock, Heimdall and the rest watched Odin fall to the frozen ground.

Syd's golden eyes glimmered as he whispered softly.

A cold, mysterious voice—like a cosmic truth—resonated in their minds:

"Though it may seem a fair fight, fate leans toward Odin."

"In myths, the noble hero always defeats the monster..."

"But... what if this time is not like the stories?"

A heavy silence fell upon the hall.

Then—

"This must be fake!" young Thor shouted, shaking his head furiously. "There's no way that Frost Giant could beat Father! It's fake!"

He glared at Syd with defiance.

But the vision continued.

After Odin's death, Laufey invaded Asgard. In the midst of the terrified crowds, his gaze landed on the child—Thor.

He narrowed his eyes... scheming.

To Heimdall and the others' shock, the Frost Giant King adopted young Thor—and imprisoned Queen Frigga.

Thor, now Laufey's ward, vowed that one day he would destroy Jotunheim.

Time passed.

Then, Laufey's true son—Loki—appeared. After certain events, he and Thor formed a deep bond.

Thor grew into a powerful warrior, defeating many formidable enemies. The Frost Giants, who revered strength, came to favor him—especially Laufey, who began to treat Thor like his own son, even naming him heir to the throne.

Meanwhile, Loki, being cunning but not a warrior, was increasingly neglected.

Lonely and desperate, Loki formed a bond with the imprisoned Frigga. He longed for Midgard, the "realm of stories" Frigga spoke of.

Time passed again.

Thor eventually inherited the royal weapon—a hammer named Icebreaker—and became heir to the throne. Loki, by contrast, remained in the shadows.

Still, Thor treated Loki like a brother.

One day, Thor revealed that Laufey wanted them both to help conquer Muspelheim, the land of fire giants ruled by Surtur. But Loki refused.

Instead, he knocked out the guards, freed Frigga, and used her magic to summon the Bifröst to escape to Midgard.

But just as they reached the bridge, Laufey and Thor appeared.

Thor's skin had already turned the characteristic icy blue of the Frost Giants.

Laufey had known all along. He had let them get this far—just to kill them here.

As Laufey raised his weapon toward Loki, Thor pleaded with him to stop. In the chaos, Loki struck first—killing Laufey.

Furious, Thor turned on Loki.

"No, no, no—what have you done?!" Thor screamed, wielding Icebreaker as a storm of frost raged around him.

A deadly surge of cold exploded from the hammer.

Loki, terrified, would have been struck down—if not for Frigga.

"Loki! Look out!" she cried, hurling herself into him.

"No!"

The frost engulfed her. A large part of her body froze over.

Loki scrambled to her side, holding her in panic.

"Thor... what have you done?!"

Frigga, now mostly frozen, murmured weakly,

"Thor... was that really you?"

She turned toward him, trying to see him clearly... but the frost spread over her completely.

In Loki's arms, her body shattered into a pile of glistening ice.

"What... did my father and his cursed hammer do to you..."

"You don't even recognize..."

"...your own mother..."

Before he could finish, Frigga had crumbled away in his embrace.

Loki screamed in agony and attacked Thor.

But he was no match.

Thor, now the God of Winter, defeated him easily.

Yet in the end, Thor relented and let Loki escape across the Bifröst to Midgard.

They never saw each other again.

Loki lived a peaceful life on Earth.

Thor remained in Jotunheim—king and guardian of the realm, the cold sovereign of winter.

Image after image played before their eyes.

No one could believe what they were seeing.

Especially the part with Frigga and Thor.

Little Thor clutched his head and backed away in terror, screaming:

"The prophecy's fake! It's fake! I'd never hurt Mother!"

"I don't want to see it anymore! I don't!"

His face twisted in fear and dread. He no longer dared look at Balder—the terrifying god who conjured the vision.

Then he screamed and fled the palace.

"Thor!" Frigga called out, chasing after him.

As she left, the prophecy vanished from above.

But no one's heart had calmed.

Their expressions were heavy with turmoil.

"Was that real?" Heimdall asked suddenly.

Syd answered calmly,

"What do you think?"

He didn't say yes. But everyone, especially Odin, understood—it could be real.

Yet emotionally, they couldn't accept it.

Then Heimdall's eyes lit up, noticing something.

"Balder-sama... you weren't in the vision. Could that mean it's inaccurate?"

Odin blinked. His heart lightened slightly.

That's right. Maybe it's changeable...

His eyes turned toward Syd with hope.

Syd said flatly,

"Time cannot predict me."

The crowd went still.

Time... can't predict him?

Impossible.

And yet, here he stood. freewēbnoveℓ.com

If it were true... then Balder's existence was more terrifying than they imagined.

Feeling their eyes on him, Syd fell silent for a moment.

Then he spoke:

"What I showed you was merely the most probable future. It's not set in stone."

"With my arrival, the future has already changed. Aside from Ragnarok, which is destined... you needn't worry. Just act as if you never saw this prophecy."

As he spoke, he floated calmly out of the palace, lost in thought, experimenting with a new chaos magic technique similar to dream-walking.

Crimson light shimmered from his fingertips as he worked.

Odin and the others let out a collective sigh—then froze again.

"Ragnarok?" Odin murmured. "He even knows about Ragnarok...?"

He was stunned.

A child just born—and he already knew of the twilight of the gods?

Meanwhile, far beyond the multiverse...

Tentacles began to emerge.

A massive, unknowable, and utterly terrifying presence drifted closer.

The true body of the Old One.

Its voice echoed across the void—

"Insect... You dare destroy my avatar..."

"I warned you... It's far from over..."

"When I descend, it will be your end..."

"You will be my puppet..."

"The power you wield... will be my dessert..."

"Insect..."

A creature not even on the level of a single-universe god, a crawling bug, dared defy Him?

He would crush that ant.

Now.
