Standing Next To You-Chapter 343: Congratulatory gifts
Chapter 343: Congratulatory gifts
The presidents of each club worked quickly and went directly to the faculty to excuse their members from class. But since everyone belonged to a club, and every club was preparing their own ’gift’, the faculty hesitated to agree at first.
However, after learning that it was for the school tyrant and the current number one ranker, the faculty relented. Even the principal, who was enjoying his morning coffee, was dragged in.
Fei Chuan had brought honor to the school. He ranked first not only within Tian Shen High but also defeated other high schools and ranked first in the country. The school wanted to congratulate Fei Chuan; however, he disappeared for days and only showed up when the matter died down a bit.
Since the school hadn’t officially congratulated Fei Chuan, they thought it would be a good time to do so and celebrate it as well.
Thus, when the couple arrived at their building, they saw several students running around to different departments.
Bei Sangyun saw Lin Sunji and other students from class 3-1A walking downstairs. She stopped them, "What’s going on?"
Lin Sunji’s face turned sour. "I don’t know!" She bypassed Bei Sangyun, muttering, "Does she have to affect my studies too?"
Bei Sangyun didn’t understand and unconsciously asked, "Where are you going?"
"To the library!" Lin Sunji yelled as she left.
Bei Sangyun blinked. Lin Sunji was always angry at her, so it wasn’t surprising to see her upset for no apparent reason.
Bei Sangyun turned around and saw Lin Sanju coming downstairs. Fei Chuan, who was beside her, asked him, "Is there an event?"
Lin Sanju took off his headphones. He was clueless too. "I think so. The principal announced earlier to gather at the event hall."
Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan looked at each other. Then they followed Lin Sanju to the event hall.
The hall was crowded.
It took a long time for Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan to enter the hall. One of the officers of the student council saw them and immediately escorted the two to the back of the stage.
Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan were confused. They did not know why they were being led to the back. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
The student council officer gave a brief explanation, "You two are important figures of the school. Senior Fei Chuan is our current number one ranker. And you, Senior, are the former number one rank."
After he said that, he excused himself. He seemed very busy.
Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan were left backstage, looking at each other with confusion in their eyes.
A few minutes later, the officer returned. "It’s started. Please walk to the stage."
Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan: ??
What started?
Bei Sangyun understood why Fei Chuan was needed on stage. As the top ranker, the school likely wanted him to deliver a motivational speech or some other form of acknowledgment. On the other hand, she wasn’t even on the list, so there seemed to be no reason for her to be involved.
Despite this, the officer insisted on having both of them on stage. Bei Sangyun wasn’t shy in front of a crowd, so she followed with a sense of curiosity.
It might be interesting to see Fei Chuan being admired by everyone up close.
As the two walked out from backstage, the spotlight suddenly turned to them, making them squint their eyes. Then they heard the principal’s voice.
"Everyone, let’s congratulate our dear students..." The principal muttered softly, with a forced smile, "...for being a lovely couple. Congrats to the couple."
Everyone clapped and cheered. Several hastily made banners were raised.
[Congratulations Tyrant and Male God Fei Chuan for being a couple!]
[The ship has sailed!]
[Tyrant Loves Male God Fei Chuan]
[I want you to be my ’Boyfriend’ too, Male God!]
[Our Tyrant is ours!]
Then the sound of drums echoed in the hall. Several cheerleaders suddenly appeared out of nowhere. They tumbled in the air and jumped around, shouting, "Tyrant loves Fei Chuan! Fei Chuan loves Tyrant! Go~~Love Love~"
Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan: "...."
As if that wasn’t enough, a video suddenly played behind them.
[The Love Story of the Tyrant and Male God Fei Chuan]
[Presented by the Computer Club and Book Club]
It was an edit of their photos from the forums. There was even a storyteller narrating their ’love story’.
Fei Chuan glanced at Bei Sangyun speechlessly.
Bei Sangyun noticed his gaze and shook her head defensively. "It wasn’t me. I didn’t do this."
She was really innocent.
....
After several clubs presented their ’congratulatory’ gifts, the embarrassing event finally ended.
Bei Sangyun, who usually had thick skin and wouldn’t be embarrassed even if she announced to the whole world she was marrying Fei Chuan, was now so mortified that she wanted to dig a hole and hide.
She didn’t dare meet Fei Chuan’s gaze or glance at him. Beside her, Fei Chuan was like a statue, motionless and rigid.
The principal took the floor again and proceeded to make a speech. He congratulated Fei Chuan and talked about Tian Shen High’s history and so on.
Only when the topic shifted away from them did Bei Sangyun finally start to recover from her embarrassment. She sneaked a glance at Fei Chuan.
She poked his hand, "Hey...I really didn’t do this."
Fei Chuan nodded, "I know. If it were you, it would be more direct and bold."
Bei Sangyun agreed, "Yeah. I wouldn’t hire a cheering squad or make a PowerPoint. That was all cringey." Putting up a huge banner in front of the school’s entrance would have been much better than this.
Fei Chuan thought back to the earlier scene and chuckled.
Bei Sangyun glanced at him in surprise, "You’re laughing? You’re not angry?"
Fei Chuan shook his head with a laugh. "Why would I be angry? This is actually funny. Which school would make an event to congratulate its students for being a couple? They should have forbidden us from dating instead."
He glanced at her, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "I think you’ve influenced the entire school with your craziness."
Bei Sangyun was stunned. "What? Me?"
Fei Chuan chuckled again.
Bei Sangyun watched him laugh and couldn’t help but laugh as well.
That’s right. The principal, the students— the entire school has truly become absurd.
