39: Chapter 38 Clinic

39 -38 Clinic

A middle-aged white man in his forties walked out, looking indeed weary.

After he approached Yang Yi and Kate, he lowered his head to glance at Kate and then asked with confusion, “What’s going on?”

Yang Yi said urgently, “My friend, she’s been injured, she’s already had surgery, but now the incision has started bleeding again, I hope you can check and treat her.”

The doctor pondered for a moment, frowning, “I’m off work, why don’t you go to the hospital?”

Without hesitation, Yang Yi said, “I’m willing to pay five thousand British Pounds, upfront, in cash!

I only have one request, don’t call the police.”

The doctor pushed his glasses up and then looked at Yang Yi, speaking gravely, “I can treat her, but you must leave here after the treatment is done, I cannot host you for a hospital stay.”

Yang Yi immediately said, “No problem, we’ll leave right after the surgery.”

The doctor nodded and said, “It’s settled then, let me check her first.”

Kate was wheeled in, and soon, the doctor came out and said to Yang Yi, “I can handle it for her, it’s simple, but the thing you mentioned…”

Yang Yi instantly took out his bag, then he pulled out a stack of bills, speaking firmly, “Five thousand British Pounds, upfront.”

An illegal yet reasonable and realistic transaction was swiftly concluded, Yang Yi did not hesitate to take out five thousand British Pounds in cash, and once the doctor received the money, he began the preparations without another word, and soon, Kate’s wound was treated.

Yang Yi waited in the clinic’s resting room, and an hour later, Kate was wheeled out, and the doctor said indifferently, “My advice is this lady must receive good care, as well as a clean environment, and timely dressing changes.”

Yang Yi, looking exhausted, said, “Thank you, I understand.

Can we come here for the dressing changes?”

The doctor shook his head, silently handed over the wheelchair Kate was sitting in to Yang Yi, and then made a gesture for them to leave.

With a sigh of resignation, Yang Yi pushed Kate out through the glass door that the nurse had opened for him.

Clueless, Yang Yizhen really didn’t know where to go, then, he aimlessly pushed Kate, who sat in the wheelchair, out of the clinic.

“Where can we go?”

“I don’t know…”

Kate’s question was weak, Yang Yi’s answer was feeble, and just then, a man carrying a briefcase dressed in a suit hurried towards them, slightly stepped aside as he neared Yang Yi and Kate, and brushed past Yang Yi.

What seemed a normal scene suddenly became abnormal.

As he brushed past Yang Yi, the man who looked like he had just finished work and was eager to get home suddenly raised his hand, slashing towards Yang Yi’s neck.

The normal-looking man had made his move.

Seeing the man act, Yang Yi, who bore a bitter expression while slowly wheeling the wheelchair forward, understood too.

Yang Yi ducked his head and, in a flash, surged forward at the last moment when a sharp blade nearly touched his carotid artery.

Beads of blood formed on Yang Yi’s neck, but his carotid artery was not cut; it was merely a scratch on the surface of his skin.

The man in the suit was somewhat taken aback by his failed strike, which seemed inconceivable to him, yet his hands moved without pause, immediately spinning around and lunging towards Yang Yi’s back.

Just then, Yang Yi heard a thump behind him, and when he turned around, he saw the man he had just brushed past convulsing on the ground, while the indifferent nurse from the clinic held a taser in her hand.

Being only ten meters from the clinic’s door, Yang Yi was curious as to how the nurse had managed to come out so quickly and still shoot the assassin on time, as the timing suggested that she fired the taser precisely when he lunged forward.

It was like a magic trick; suddenly, three people emerged from the clinic, including the doctor who had just treated Kate’s wounds.

But Yang Yi wasn’t worried at all, since the three people who had just appeared were clearly not with the assassin, seeing as they came out of the clinic.

The nurse quickly approached the still convulsing assassin, gave him another shot with the taser, and then waved Yang Yi over.

As soon as Yang Yi reached her, she immediately pushed his head to one side.

After examining the wound on Yang Yi’s neck and seeing it was nothing more than a superficial scratch that oozed a few droplets of blood, she released him right away.

By this time, the assassin had been carried back into the clinic by the three people who had emerged.

Pushing Kate quickly to keep up, Yang Yi followed the trio into the operating room.

He saw them toss the assassin onto the operating table—one wearing a caregiver’s uniform and the other in a white doctor’s coat—and expertly secured him to the table.

If there was only one word to describe Yang Yi’s feelings right now, it would probably be awe.

The doctor looked at Yang Yi with a slight smile, then took out a cell phone, dialed a number, and soon said, “Mission accomplished, we have caught him, please come over.”

After hanging up the phone, the doctor smiled at Yang Yi and nodded, then asked with a hint of curiosity, “That was some nice dodging earlier.

Did you know he was going to strike at you?

To be honest, I didn’t even see it coming; the guy didn’t show any signs before making his move.”

Yang Yi swallowed hard, shook his head, and then said in a trembling voice, “No, I didn’t know he was going to strike at me.

I just remembered seeing him before, so I thought, even if it seemed a bit crazy, running forward a few steps was better than getting my throat slit from behind.”

The doctor expressed surprise, “You’ve seen him before?”

At that moment, the sound of footsteps approached.

Yang Yi looked back to see Danny striding into the room.

Looking at the assassin tied to the operating table and then at Yang Yi, who still had traces of blood on his neck, he nodded and said with a smile, “Good job, everyone did very well.”

The doctor extended his hand to shake with Danny, and then immediately turned to Yang Yi with a smile, “The young man’s good, a newbie?”

Danny shook his head, “No, just bait.”

The doctor immediately responded, “Oh, I thought he was a new recruit.”

Danny chuckled, then took another look at the assassin on the bed. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

His expression became serious, and he said coldly, “Since we caught him in your place, I’ll trouble Dr.

James to take care of the rest.

The only requirement is not to let him die.”

Dr.

James smiled gently, and with a gentlemanly bow, said, “Delighted to be of service, please.”
