Regressor Instruction Manual-Chapter 1142: Fallen King’s Tomb (8)
Chapter 1142: Fallen King’s Tomb (8)
“Will it really be okay, Mr. Lee Ki-Young? A Spirit Rogue…” Lim Chae-Ryeong asked.
“Personally, I think it’s one of the best choices, and I like that she’ll continuously update your job. The base of that job is Spiritual Sorcerer, and I believe affinity is important, so if they’re also going to provide you with items—”
“Ah! She just spoke again. She said she’d provide me with items that’d increase my affinity each time I level up,” she interrupted me.
“Hmph.” Woo Hyo-Yeol harrumphed to express that he had something to say, but the excited Lim Chae-Ryeong couldn't hear him.
Obviously, I was intentionally ignoring him as well. He frowned a bit, but since he didn’t walk away or anything, it was clear that he wanted to express his opinion as well.
‘It’s a good sign.’
He just couldn’t find the right time to say it… but at least he was taking the initiative to say something.
“It’d be nice if you had a good mentor… I think the Flower and Fertility Familia has a Spiritual Sorcerer. Her name is Emilia…” I said.
“Ah! I know her! Spiritual Sorcerer Emilia! Wow! Wooow!” Lim Chae-Ryeong exclaimed.
“I can’t guarantee it, but if you choose to be a Spirit Rogue… I can probably arrange a meeting,” I said.
“What? Really? Really?!” Lim Chae-Ryeong asked.
“Hmph.” Woo Hyo-Yeol harrumphed again. I was sure he wanted to protect this young child from falling for the Mother of Six Spirits and choosing the Spirit Rogue. Even the innocent Flower Ki-Young was pushing for the Spirit Rogue, so of course, he was feeling frustrated.
He seemed worried about losing the unrefined gem that he had painstakingly found.
He was also questioning me, but…
‘It won't hurt to show my weakness once in a while.’
How could a twenty-three-year-old like me be perfect?
I was perfect in dungeon research… and even in sword techniques. I also had the title "Genius Tactician." However, I wouldn't be relatable if I were too perfect. Since I had left a good impression through my great performance, this was the time to show my clumsy side.
I had to pretend like I was still not exactly aware of how Rohen’s GENIUS system worked.
“If you can summon mid-rank spirits, you can entrust them with one of the weaker spots in the formation,” I said.
“Ahh, you’re right! Since we tend to leave the left side of our formation open, I think that's a great idea. You’re right,” Lim Chae-Ryeong said.
“Hmph.”
That was the third harrumph.
I wanted to ignore him again, but I couldn’t do that because the kind-hearted Nam Goong-Seon said, “I… think the party leader has something he wants to say.”
“...”
“...”
“I want to say that it’s a stupid choice,” Woo Hyo-Yeol said.
“What?”
“Mother of Six Spirits?” Woo Hyo-Yeol asked.
“That’s right! The Mother of Six Spirits offered the Spirit Rogue—”
“What I’m trying to say is that there are GENIUSES who specialize in certain classes,” Woo Hyo-Yeol interrupted her.
‘Yeah, I agree.’
“The Mother of Six Spirits is a GENIUS who specializes in training Spirit Sorcerers. Do you understand what I’m saying?” Woo Hyo-Yeol asked.
“N-Not really…” Lim Chae-Ryeong answered.
“What I’m trying to say is that you won’t achieve the efficiency you’re expecting. It’d be a different story if you had talent as a Spirit Sorcerer, but most dual classes created from the GENIUSES’ greed end up being useless,” Woo Hyo-Yeol explained.
‘There’s a reason I didn’t choose the Saint of Sunset.’
Kim Hyun-Sung's understanding of the priest class was basically zero. Of course, as a regressor who had experienced countless battles, he probably knew which skills and abilities were good, but creating an actual class was a completely different story.
Overall, he would have to consider skills, mana efficiency, and stats adjustments. There were also a ton of small details he had to think about.
The Saint of Sunset class was probably a useless job that was capable of making huge explosions. To make things worse, the firepower wouldn't be that great, as the system would surely nerf it. I was sure I’d become exhausted after using just one skill.
It was the same for the Mother of Six Spirits. The dual class she had created at the last minute was probably useless because she only made it to obtain some Lee Ki-Young Coin.
“B-But the members of the Flower and Fertility Familia have a variety of jobs! That’s—”
“The situation is different for GENIUSES who are taking care of major familias. They have already developed their own methods when it comes to developing their members,” Woo Hyo-Yeol interrupted her.
“Ugh…”
“And you don’t have talent as a Spirit Sorcerer, do you? Hey kid, have you even heard a spirit’s voice?” Woo Hyo-Yeol asked.
‘Of course not.’
“It’s the same for the Fire Walker job. The Bird Engulfed in Flames… I’ve heard of that GENIUS before, but they don't fit you. You won’t be able to handle that GENIUS,” Woo Hyo-Yeol said.
“What are you saying?!”
“It means that high-ranking GENIUSES will make classes for high-ranking players, dummy. Being able to cast fire spells without any penalties is a great ability, but will you be able to handle all the other abilities? You think Raymond Bolt didn’t get into a contract with high-ranking GENIUSES because he’s stupid?” Woo Hyo-Yeol questioned.
“Ah…”
He was right.
“If you bite off more than you can chew, your body will suffer from the inside. You’ve already hit your limit,” Woo Hyo-Yeol added.
Lim Chae-Ryeong, who seemed to be upset by Woo Hyo-Yeol's chiding, suddenly became embarrassed. The room became silent.
“A-Are you worried about me?” Lim Chae-Ryeong asked.
'Huh? What’s going on between you two?'
“...”
“...”
Of course, there was no romance between them.
“You’re being ridiculous, kid. You think I’m saying this because I’m worried about you?” Woo Hyo-Yeol asked.
“Ugh…”
“Tell me the GENIUSES who are trying to get into contract with you and the jobs they're offering. I’ll tell you what I think of them,” Woo Hyo-Yeol requested.
“Ah, okay. Hold on,” she said.
I had to say something as well.
“Thank you. I had no idea as well,” I remarked.
“Hmph. I never thought you were perfect. No surprises there,” Woo Hyo-Yeol said.
‘This jerk looks really happy.’
He looked so happy that I thought showing my clumsy side was a good thing.
Of course, I knew why he was in such a good mood. It wasn't like he landed a major blow, but he probably felt like he had regained control for the first time in a while. Some people enjoyed getting carried, but he was the type to feel relieved once he was in control.
He was probably happy about this situation, as he had been following me ever since we graduated from the academy.
“You got pretty lucky. The Goddess of Flower and Fertility specializes in the priest class,” Woo Hyo-Yeol informed me.
“Ah… I see,” I said.
“You’re clueless in the strangest way,” Woo Hyo-Yeol added.
“Ha… haha…” I laughed out of embarrassment.
‘I don’t think I need to intervene.’
After insulting me, I saw him looking through the jobs. I could see that he really liked his line just now because he looked pretty satisfied.
Jupiter’s group had promised to prepare a job and contract, but I didn’t think it was a bad idea to let Woo Hyo-Yeol make the decision. He was going to train her anyway, and they had quite a few things in common.
“Didn’t you hear what I said just now? This is also out of the question. Reaper’s Assassin? You’re joking, right?” Woo Hyo-Yeol questioned.
“Ah, but this is… Necro! Man! Cy!” Lim Chae-Ryeong shouted.
“Shut up and listen to me,” Woo Hyo-Yeol scolded her.
“Ugh… at least be nice,” Lim Chae-Ryeong mumbled.
“This one…and this one isn’t so bad,” Woo Hyo-Yeol said.
‘I knew he was going to pick those.’
While I was organizing the reward items with Raymond Bolt and Jung Ha-Yan, I noticed that he had narrowed it down to two options.
‘A Level 3 Dagger Rogue.’
It was the job I had requested.
“Eww! It’s so bad! What’s with the cheesy name? It sounds like a low-level mob that appears in a village at the beginning of a game,” Lim Chae-Ryeong complained.
“Shut up. This job is perfect for you. It has rogue skills, and your melee combat proficiency will increase as a bonus—"
“I-I think this one is better. I want to pick this one. Holy Night Rogue,” Lim Chae-Ryeong interrupted him.
‘A Level 3 Holy Night Rogue.’
It was the job offered by the Mistress of the Holy Night.
“If I had to choose between the two, the Dagger Rogue fits you better. The Mistress of the Holy Night is a high-ranking GENIUS. It looks balanced, but it’ll be hard for you to handle it, especially when you’re in a party like this.
"You need to level up as fast as possible here, after all. We don’t have the luxury of taking our time in mastering our jobs,” Woo Hyo-Yeol explained.
“Then why did you give me a choice? You should’ve just told me to pick the Dagger Rogue or whatever,” Lim Chae-Ryeong complained.
"Quiet. I’m thinking right now,” Woo Hyo-Yeol remarked.
‘He’s taking his time.’
The Level 3 Dagger Rogue was guaranteed to be a success. It was the job I had prepared for Lim Chae-Ryeong, but the Holy Night Rogue didn’t seem like a bad choice, either.
Despite the fact that a high-ranking GENIUS had created that job, it wasn't resource-hungry. It seemed a bit too much for her to use right now, but if she consumed an elixir or something, it could become pretty useful.
I was sure the Night Cloak from the Holy Night Rogue job was what attracted her.
It’d be a shame to miss out on it since it granted Magic Resistance and increased Movement Speed by a hundred percent. It wasn’t a passive skill, so there was a downside to it, and the downside was the fact that the buff depended on the user’s proficiency.
If she was trained properly, she would become a nightmare among those with mage-type jobs.
‘If she becomes as strong as Ye-Ri, she won’t have to worry about her job or special abilities. She's been making good use of her self-made Dance of Enchantment.'
“Please. Please…! Let me choose the Holy Night Rogue. I’ll work hard, please,” Lim Chae-Ryeong begged.
‘It’ll be a shame to miss out on the Dagger Rogue's Weapon Block Proficiency Boost.’
Even if she had the Night Cloak, she wouldn’t be able to do much right now, and I was sure Woo Hyo-Yeol had the same thoughts as me.
“Ask the Mistress of the Holy Night if she's willing to offer the contract again at Level 4,” Woo Hyo-Yeol said.
“What? But the GENIUSES—”
“If she really wanted you… she'd say something, even if it meant getting penalized,” Woo Hyo-Yeol interrupted her.
“...”
“...”
“Ah! She said she’d do it! She agreed!” Lim Chae-Ryeong exclaimed.
“Then that settles it,” Woo Hyo-Yeol said.
“Ugh… I’m… happy about it…” Lim Chae-Ryeong paused.
“Choose Dagger Rogue first. Once your proficiency has increased, we'll consider the Holy Night Rogue. I’ll think about your next choice based on the results of your training,” Woo Hyo-Yeol told her.
“I’ll work really hard. I promise,” Lim Chae-Ryeong said.
‘Looks like it’s been decided.’
I was amazed by how kind and warm Woo Hyo-Yeol’s counseling center was.
‘Woo Hyo-Yeol… I have no idea that you've gotten deeply involved in all this...’
He was gradually adapting to the warm and comfy party.
New novel 𝓬hapters are published on freёwebnoѵel.com.
I honestly expected this, but I only became certain of it when we returned to Harizel.
And it was all because I saw Woo Hyo-Yeol looking at the party house—no, what was left of the inn upon getting burned down—with his mouth tightly shut.
‘Our house… is gone.’
