Reborn into Beast Tamer Clan with Monsters-Only Affinity-Chapter 51: Cute little sister
Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Cute little sister
"That’s nobility to you," Owen suddenly chimed in from the bed, raising a jiggling slime-hand like a wise old scholar.
Axelius rolled his eyes, but before he could retort, Ellory stepped closer and gently took his hand.
"You haven’t had breakfast yet, Brother," she said sweetly. "Let me help you." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
She tugged lightly, but Axelius didn’t move. Instead, he looked down at her small fingers wrapped around his own, and with a quiet sigh, gently pulled his hand away.
"I understand that you came here to apologize," he said, his tone soft but distant. "But now that you’ve done that... why are you doing this?"
Ellory’s hand dropped to her side. For a heartbeat, her eyes trembled. A flicker of sadness passed through them, but she quickly forced a bright smile back onto her face.
"I’m just worried, Brother," she said, tilting her head a little. "You were injured. And Uncle Van said you’re malnourished, that you need to eat more healthy food."
Axelius blinked. "Van?"
"That’s the physician," Owen answered from the bed, his voice lazy but clear.
Axelius gave a small nod of understanding. "Right... him."
Then he turned to Ellory again, his voice firm but not harsh. "Thank you for your concern. I can eat on my own—you don’t have to help me. You can leave now."
There was a pause.
Ellory’s lips parted slightly, like she wanted to protest, but then she caught the look in his eyes—unwavering, closed-off—and slowly lowered her gaze. She gave a short, graceful nod.
Just as she turned, Owen suddenly bounced off the bed and hit Axelius in the back with a soft plop.
"Axelius!" he scolded, sounding more serious than usual. "You always do this with kids!"
Axelius clicked his tongue. "What do you mean ’this’?"
"Pushing them away when they’re just trying to care about you!" Owen said. "She’s four. Four! If I had eyes I’d be rolling them right now!"
Ellory turned around again, blinking curiously.
"I’m not pushing anyone away," Axelius muttered, "She already said sorry. That’s all she needed to do."
"But she also wanted to help!" Owen bounced in frustration. "You could at least act like a decent big brother."
"I never asked to be one," Axelius replied, without looking back.
The silence that followed was brief but heavy. Then Ellory giggled softly, surprising both of them, ’She didn’t leave?!’
"It’s okay, Mister Slime. Brother is just shy."
"Shy?!" Axelius turned around with a horrified look.
Owen howled with laughter. "Oh, now that’s going in my memory forever."
Ellory beamed as if she’d just won something important.
Axelius groaned. "You two are going to drive me insane."
Axelius reached for the small silver bell placed neatly on the bedside table and gave it a light ring. The clear chime echoed softly in the room, and within moments, Millie entered with her usual calm grace.
"Prepare my bath," he said without looking at her.
"Yes, Master," she replied immediately, bowing slightly before heading toward the bathroom.
With a sigh, Axelius grabbed the clothes he had chosen for the day and laid them out on the edge of the bed. As he did so, Millie returned from the bathroom, her presence quiet but efficient.
His eyes flicked over to Ellory, who was still standing in the same spot, watching them. He frowned. "What are you still doing here, Ellory?"
Without waiting for a response, he lifted a hand and made a subtle gesture. Millie stepped forward, understanding his silent command, and began unfastening the buttons of his shirt.
"Whoa, whoa! Ellory’s still here," Owen shouted, flailing his jelly-like arms from the bedside.
Ellory only laughed and quickly turned around, her back to them. "Brother has changed so much," she said cheerfully. "Before, you didn’t like anyone assisting you... You never wanted people close."
Now wearing only a towel wrapped around his waist, Axelius walked into the bathroom, followed closely by Millie, who carried a set of neatly folded towels and bath supplies.
Owen let out a long, dramatic sigh once the door closed behind them. "Are you really going to wait here for Axelius?"
"Oh right!" Ellory clapped her hands together as if remembering something important. "I have something to do! Uhmm... Mister Slime, please tell my brother to come downstairs when he’s done."
Owen’s jelly body rippled at the nickname. "Oh sure, cutiepie," he mumbled, already melting slightly from the sweetness of her smile.
Ellory giggled and skipped out of the room with light footsteps. Owen stared at the doorway with a dreamy expression. "Axelius is so lucky... he has such a cute sister."
But as quickly as the thought came, it turned bitter. "Yet he doesn’t even care."
*** Dining Hall
The grand dining hall was quiet. Axelius sat alone at one end of the long table, his back straight, his silver fork calmly tapping against the edge of the plate. Across from him, Owen perched on the table like a gelatinous paperweight, occasionally reaching out with his slime limbs to grab pieces of food.
Axelius took a sip of milk, and a faint white line remained on his lips. Millie, ever watchful, stepped forward without a word, gently wiping the corner of his mouth with a clean cloth.
"Thanks," he muttered before returning to his plate.
The silence settled again, thick and unmoving—until Axelius spoke.
"Elias. Bring me dessert."
Millie opened her mouth, clearly wanting to serve him herself, but Axelius didn’t even glance her way. His tone was final. Elias, standing by the wall, nodded and quietly exited the hall to fulfill the order.
The moment the door closed behind him, Axelius placed his cutlery down and looked toward Millie.
"You healed me," he said, his voice calm but edged with curiosity. "Why?"
Millie looked startled. She hadn’t expected him to notice, let alone bring it up.
Owen, of course, chimed in, "Yeah, why? He’s always bullying people. What made you help him?"
Axelius didn’t hesitate to grab the empty soup bowl beside him and slam it over Owen’s head, muffling any further comments.
Millie stifled a laugh and folded her hands in front of her apron. "Because I am loyal to this household," she said softly. "Whoever I serve, I give the same care. I’ve healed Cyruz... and even the other Dravenhart children. I just never had to show it until now."
Axelius leaned back in his seat, a slow grin tugging at his lips. "You’re more loyal than I thought."
Millie blinked, surprised by his smile—not cold, not mocking... just honest. And unexpectedly warm.
Her cheeks tinged with pink. Even if she’d seen all his moods over the last few days, that expression caught her off guard.
Owen pushed the bowl off his head with effort and peeked up at them, eyes squinting suspiciously.
"The fuck," he thought, staring at Millie’s pink cheeks. "Did she just blush at that psycho’s evil grin? Damn... these childlike faces really fool people."
Millie took a small step forward, her voice returning to formal rhythm. "Young Master—"
"You can stop talking like that," Axelius interrupted. "I permit you to speak the way you do with the other maids."
Millie froze. Even though she had only been serving him for a short while, she had already learned one thing well—Axelius hated repeating himself.
"I... I’ll try my best, Young Master," she said, stuttering slightly, still unsure how to respond to the unexpected leniency.
A moment passed, and then she asked gently, "But... why did you send Elias away? We could have talked even if he was here. Elias is trusted, isn’t he? He’s been in the estate for as long as the Duke himself."
Axelius twirled a knife between his fingers without looking up. The blade spun smoothly, catching the candlelight.
"Exactly," he said, placing the knife down with a soft clink. "That’s why he isn’t afraid of me."
He leaned forward slightly, his voice quiet but steady.
"He reports everything to Vivienne... even after I told him not to. I threatened him, and he still does it. That makes him not trustworthy."
