Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Struggling on Air

High above the estate, the wind whipped violently at Axelius’s face as he dangled from the wyvern’s claws, its sharp talons digging painfully into his shoulders. Blood trickled down his arms, staining his clothes, and each flap of its massive wings sent powerful gusts that made it hard to breathe.

"Damn it! Let me go!" Axelius shouted, his voice hoarse as he twisted and squirmed, desperately trying to pry the Monsters claws from his body. He gritted his teeth against the pain and began punching and kicking at the wyvern’s scaly legs. His fists pounded against the rough, leathery skin, but it was like hitting solid rock—no reaction, not even a flinch.

"Ugh! Come on! Stupid lizard! Let go of me!" Axelius cursed, swinging his legs wildly, but the wyvern only tightened its grip, making him yelp in pain. "Arghh! Damn it! Why won’t this thing let go?!"

He heard distant shouts from below—Millie’s voice echoing desperately. "Help! Somebody help! Young Master Axelius is being taken!"

His shoulder burned with pain, and he could feel the wyvern’s claws digging deeper. "Shit, this hurts..."

Just as his vision started to blur from the pain, he saw something bright in the distance—a flash of red and gold, shimmering like fire against the sky. His eyes widened, blinking rapidly. "What the...?"

"Axelius!"

His head snapped up at the familiar voice. Through the haze of wind and pain, he saw her—Vivienne, riding atop a massive phoenix with wings blazing with flames that left trails of embers in the sky. The creature flapped its wings powerfully, the air shimmering with heat as it soared closer.

"Vivienne!" Axelius shouted back, relief flooding his face. The phoenix screeched loudly, its cry piercing through the roar of the wind. Flames crackled along its wings as it approached, the air around it shimmering with raw power.

Vivienne leaned forward, her expression determined as her hands gripped the reins tightly. "Hold on, Axelius! I’m coming!" she called out,

Vivienne’s eyes narrowed with determination as she raised her hand, flames swirling around her fingertips before igniting into a blazing fireball. She didn’t hesitate; with a flick of her wrist, she launched it straight at the goblin perched on the wyvern’s back.

The fireball soared through the air, crackling with power, and struck the goblin dead-on. "Gyaaah!" it screeched, its green skin charring as it toppled off the wyvern’s back, disappearing into the clouds below.

"Now!" Vivienne commanded, and the phoenix screeched in response, diving with blazing wings straight toward the wyvern. Its talons, sharp and radiant with flames, slashed through the air, tearing into the wyvern’s side. The beast shrieked, wings flapping frantically as it lost its grip on Axelius.

"Shit—!" Axelius barely had time to react as he felt the talons release him. His stomach dropped, and the wind roared in his ears as he plummeted downward.

"VIVIENNE!" he screamed, arms flailing as the ground came rushing up toward him.

"Hold on!" Vivienne shouted back, her phoenix diving with incredible speed, wings blazing through the sky. Flames trailed behind it as she leaned forward, her eyes locked onto Axelius.

But before she could close the distance, a shadow passed above him. Out of nowhere, another wyvern swooped down, its beak snatching Axelius by his collar with a rough jerk.

"What the—?!" Axelius gasped, eyes wide with shock as he was yanked back into the air.

"AXELIUS!" Vivienne screamed, her phoenix halting midair before veering to give chase.

Axelius grunted in pain, the force making it hard to breathe. He glanced up, his eyes blazing with frustration. "You fucker...!" Without thinking, his hand shot out, his fingers clawing toward the wyvern’s face.

With a surge of desperate strength, he jammed his fingers into its glowing red eye. The wyvern screeched horribly, its wings flapping wildly as it writhed in pain. "Take that!" Axelius shouted, feeling a surge of satisfaction as the creature’s beak loosened. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

The wyvern howled, its head thrashing, and in its frenzy, it flung Axelius forward. "Agh!" He crashed onto the wyvern’s back, tumbling before managing to grab hold of one of its spiny ridges. His body ached from the impact, but adrenaline kept him moving.

He pulled himself up, panting heavily, only to be greeted by a guttural roar. "Grrrraahhh!"

A goblin, the same height as him, stood at the center of the wyvern’s back, its jagged axe glinting with fresh blood. Its eyes glowed with malice, its mouth curling into a snarl.

Axelius clenched his jaw, still gripping the wyvern’s scales for balance. "Are you serious right now? Fuck off you goblin! " he spat, his patience thinning.

The goblin roared again, lifting its axe high. But before it could take a step forward, something snapped inside Axelius. His fists tightened, his breathing heavy.

"I said...FUCK OFF!"

Suddenly, a wave of black aura exploded from his body, rippling through the air like dark flames.

"EEK!" The goblin’s eyes went wide, its movements stuttering as if frozen by fear. Its grip on the axe shook, and its knees wobbled as if it wanted to drop right there. Even the wyvern beneath Axelius shuddered, its wings twitching with uncertainty.

"What...what is this?" Axelius muttered, staring at his hands as the dark aura flared around him.

The wyvern, clearly sensing danger, screeched and began to spin, its body twisting in midair in a desperate attempt to throw Axelius off.

"Whoa, whoa! Shit!" Axelius cursed, gripping the rough scales as tightly as he could while the wyvern spiraled in a frenzy.

Axelius’s grip weakened as the wyvern thrashed wildly, spinning and diving through the air.

"Shit...shit...no...!" he muttered desperately, his fingers slipping one by one until—

"Aghhhh!" Axelius screamed as his hands finally gave out, his body flung into open air. The wind roared around him, rushing past his ears as he plummeted, the world spinning chaotically around him. His eyes darted frantically, searching for Vivienne, but all he saw were wyverns swarming around her.

"D-damn it...!" Axelius cursed, his voice lost in the wind. He saw Vivienne battling fiercely, her phoenix blazing with fire as it held off five more wyverns. She was surrounded, her flames clashing against the wyverns. There was no way she could get to him.
