Chapter 58 - 56

We spent the next day in a whirlwind of quiet excitement. Lily and I didn't know what to expectwhat did one wear to a wedding in the wizarding world? but that didn't stop us from taking it far too seriously. Mum helped me iron my favorite pink dress, the one that flared slightly at the knees and had tiny embroidered roses at the hem. I let my long, curly blonde hair fall free down my back, soft and springy, tying a white ribbon through it with trembling hands. I wanted to look nice

Lily wore a flowing green dress that matched her eyes, her red hair braided loosely over one shoulder. We both waited in the living room, sitting on the edge of the sofa Mum and Dad bustled around, making last-minute comments and adjusting our clothes.

"Now, remember to behave," Mum said, brushing a speck of lint off my sleeve.

Dad nodded. "And send our regards to Eileen and Severus. Tell them we're terribly sorry we couldn't attend."

"We will," I promised.

And then, with a loud crack that made Mum yelp, Lotty appeared.

The house-elf stood no taller than three feet, with bat-like ears and enormous round eyes. She wore a crisp linen tea towel embroidered with the Prince family crest. Her presence was like a splash of pure magic in our mundane sitting room.

Mum blinked. "Oh my goodness. Is this?"

"Yes," I said quickly. "This is Lotty. She's the Prince family's house-elf."

Dad's eyebrows shot up. "You weren't joking. They're real?"

"Of course we're real, Master Sir," Lotty squeaked, bowing so low her nose nearly touched the carpet. "Lotty is honored to escort the young Misses to the Prince Manor for the wedding of Mistress Eileen and Master Alphard."

Mum and Dad exchanged astonished glances.

"Well... thank you, Lotty," Mum said delicately. "Take care of them, won't you?"

"With my life, Mistress," Lotty said solemnly.

We gave our parents one last hug. Mum kissed my cheek, and Dad squeezed my shoulder.

"Be safe, sweetheart," he said.

Lotty took our hands, and with a POP! the living room vanished.

We landed smoothly on a stone pathway flanked by white rose bushes, in front of a grand manor house that shimmered under a canopy of magical lights. Prince Manor looked like something from a storybook elegant, ancient, and majestic, with ivy climbing the tall grey stone walls and dozens of white and gold lanterns floating in the air.

The path we stood on led through a pair of golden gates trimmed in enchanted lilies that bloomed and glowed. The front lawn had been transformed into an open-air ballroom silken canopies stretched between tall poles wrapped in blooming vines. Chairs were arranged in rows with silver ribbons, and a white aisle made of crushed petals sparkled faintly in the afternoon sun.

Above us, strings of enchanted glass globes hovered in mid-air, twinkling like starlight, and soft music drifted on the breeze. Guests in elegant robes mingled across the green lawn, sipping champagne and chatting beneath floating parasols.

It was like stepping into a dream.

And then, I saw him.

"Severus!" I called, spotting him by the trellis near the aisle.

He turned, his black dress robes fluttering slightly as he broke into a run. He looked older, taller again, his hair tied neatly back and his features more defined.

He reached us and hugged me so tightly I nearly lost my balance.

"You grew again!" I exclaimed, laughing. "How the hell do you grow every summer vacation?"

He smirked. "I missed you so much."

"I missed you too."

Behind us, Lily coughed exaggeratedly. "Don't you miss me too, Severus?"

He laughed and hugged her as well. "Of course I did. Both of you. I'm glad you're here."

He glanced at the gathering crowd and said. "I've got to fix something before the ceremony starts. "

We nodded, and he slipped away.

Lily and I made our way toward the rows of silver chairs, marveling at the décor. The altar at the front was framed by a golden arch entwined with white roses, hydrangeas, and moonflowers. A path of glowing rose quartz led up to it, and soft strings of charmed harpsichord music hummed through the air.

I was about to sit when I noticed someone new had just arrived, tall and effortlessly elegant.

He looked up and caught me staring.

Sirius Black.

Of course. He was family now.

He wore black dress robes edged in silver, his black hair styled loosely around his face. He stood beside an older man who bore a striking resemblance likely his father he was also with his younger brother - Regulus Black . Several other Black family members were nearby, dressed in severe, aristocratic fashion. But Walburga Black was notably absent.

Lily nudged me. "Sirius is coming this way."

I looked up as he approached, a boyish grin already in place.

"How's your summer, Evans?"

I tilted my head. "It was good."

"That's nice," he said, standing casually in front of us. "Mine was boring. You weren't there."

I smiled sweetly. "That's really unfortunate for you."

He chuckled. "So. You've heard we're cousins now?"

"Yes, I know," I said, eyeing him. "Which means you need to stop being mean to Severus."

He looked positively offended. "He was mean to me first!"

"Fair point," Lily chimed in.

"Then you both need to stop being mean to each other," I said firmly.

Sirius sighed. "Fine. I'll try. For today."

I glanced past him. "Your father is looking at us. Maybe you should go sit with your family."

He shrugged. "Let him look."

"Is that your brother with him?" Lily asked.

Sirius nodded. "Yeah. And my grandfather too. Real party over there."

Instead of leaving, Sirius plopped down between me and Lily, crossing his legs.

"I'll just sit here. You two are more entertaining."

We kept chatting, laughing quietly about the people we recognized and the absurdly dramatic outfits of the pure-blood elite, until the ceremony began.

The music shifted, and everyone rose as the bride appeared.

Eileen walked down the aisle in a dress of enchanted silver lace that shimmered like moonlight. Her black hair was swept into an elegant twist, and a delicate veil trailed behind her. Alphard stood beneath the floral arch, looking stunned and strangely young in finely tailored midnight blue robes.

The ceremony itself was equal parts magical and traditional. A wizarding officiant with a long silver beard invoked ancient rites of union, binding their hands with glowing ribbon. Vows were exchanged, soft and sincere. When they kissed, the sky burst with floating petals, each one turning into a glowing light before vanishing.

It was beautiful.

As we applauded, Sirius leaned toward me.

"Do you want to get married one day?"

I blinked, surprised. "Yeah. I think so."

Lily snorted. "That was sudden."

Sirius looked at me with genuine curiosity. "What's your dream wedding like?"

I smiled, imagining it. "Something simple. Close friends and family. And of course, I want to get married because I'm truly in love with the person."

He nodded slowly. "And what do you want in a future husband?"

I glanced at him warily. "Why are you asking?"

He grinned. "Just answer. Humor me."

I thought for a moment. "I want someone mature, kind, loving... and faithful. Someone who treats me like I matter."

He leaned closer, his grey eyes bright with mischief but something softer underneath.

"Well," he said, voice low and teasing, "I'll start working on mature. The rest I've already got."

I t gave Sirius a look. He just grinned, unbothered, as if he hadn't said anything strange at all.

Lily rolled her eyes. "You're both unbearable."

But she was smiling, and I shook my head, still half-amused, half-wary.

As the wedding celebration continued around us glasses raised, couples dancing under floating lights, fireworks blooming silently overhead

"Petunia," came a familiar voice.

I turned to see Severus approaching from the edge of the crowd

"Oh," he said, eyes flicking briefly toward Sirius, his tone almost dry. "My cousin is here."

Sirius glanced over and muttered, tone dry, "Oh. My cousin is here."
