Chapter 815: Chapter 815 Young and Spicy Clara Smith

Whit and Peacock looked at Hayden Bell with eyes still full of shock when they saw him stand up and say to the girl beside him, "There’s no rush with work. I’ll take you to the mall first. Besides clothes, we need to prepare daily necessities too. List anything else you want to get, and we’ll pick them out one by one."

"Cough cough..." Whit couldn’t hold back and choked on his own saliva, then quickly tried to contain himself upon receiving an unhappy glare from Hayden Bell.

After finishing, Hayden Bell still seemed unsatisfied and looked at the house they were living in now, "Crazy, didn’t you say the company was having artists move to a better new district? Help me find out how to rent a place over there. Abigail isn’t really accustomed to living in this courtyard; we should rent a better one, it’ll be convenient for practicing singing as well."

This time, not only Whit, Peacock’s jaw almost dropped too. He had advised this gentleman countless times to move, but Hayden Bell was always reluctant to leave the courtyard he and his mother had lived in, saying he was already used to living here and there was no need to change. But now, for a girl he just met, he was ready to move just like that.

Abigail felt the awkward stares from Whit and Peacock and poked Hayden Bell, "This place is quite nice, there’s no need to move."

"What’s nice about it? It doesn’t even have a private bathroom, it’s so inconvenient for a girl to live here," Hayden Bell replied instantly after Abigail finished speaking, then ordered Peacock, "Find one as soon as possible, preferably sort it within the next couple of days."

Hayden Bell’s voice wasn’t loud, but it carried an undeniable assertiveness on this issue.

Peacock nodded, "Okay, I’ll get right on it."

"And another thing... What do you two think about switching jobs?" Seeing Peacock was about to go, Hayden Bell quickly added, since he had made a decision, he intended to settle the matter today.

Whit and Peacock didn’t expect Hayden Bell to be serious. They stared into his eyes blankly for a moment, then both nodded simultaneously, "We’re with you."

They didn’t know why Hayden Bell was suddenly so responsive to Abigail Bell’s words, but while they didn’t believe Abigail, they did trust Hayden. Plus, as men of action, they agreed immediately.

Hayden Bell didn’t beat about the bush, "If that’s what you’ve decided, then Whit, go and make contact with people from Flowery Entertainment."

"Is it really that urgent?" Whit was surprised.

"Showbiz is fast-changing. That Tommy just had trouble, and your company is in chaos, now is the time to make a move before they get a chance to regroup and maybe then you won’t be able to leave." Abigail was one step ahead in analyzing before Hayden Bell could answer.

Whit felt that Abigail had a point and nodded, "I’ll get right on it."

After the two of them left, Hayden Bell also took Abigail to purchase the necessary items.

The department stores of the late ’80s and early ’90s had begun to take shape, but the products were still quite unsophisticated. Abigail, a person from the modern world, was forced to follow the trend of the times and felt like she was the heroine of a period movie when she walked out in a floral jacket.

However, Hayden Bell was extremely satisfied and stubbornly bought her a set of all sorts of strange clothing and finally, daily necessities.

When checking out, the cashier lady looked at Abigail as if she was looking at a home-wrecker, making Abigail feel embarrassed and a little uncomfortable, so she pretended to look to the side, only to spot a familiar figure.

The reason for the familiarity was that she had seen this person in their fifties, never in their late teens, so she was somewhat uncertain about recognizing her.

Seeing Abigail standing still after he finished checking out, Hayden Bell looked at her puzzled, "Are we missing anything else?"

Abigail quickly shook her head and gently tugged at Hayden Bell’s sleeve, whispering in his ear, "My mom."

It took Hayden Bell a moment to react, "Your mom?"

Abigail nodded, "Yeah, the one pretending to look at the washing powder in the southeast corner, wearing a goose yellow floral dress. Do you see her?"

Hayden Bell glanced in that direction and saw a girl about the same age as Abigail, who quickly turned away when she noticed him looking. That’s when he realized what Abigail meant by "my mom."

She was talking about Clara Smith.

The Clara Smith who was not yet eighteen years old, who had not yet fallen in love with him, who had not yet relied on each other for survival, the Clara Smith who was still healthy and well.

This recognition left Hayden Bell momentarily stunned on the spot, as the scenes of love from his dream poured out, along with the girl’s repeated look of despair because of him, causing his heart to pang with pain, and he hurriedly pulled Abigail out of the shopping mall in a bit of panic.

Only when they were outside did Abigail notice that Hayden’s complexion was off and asked with some concern, "Are you alright?"

Facing Hayden’s young face, Abigail really couldn’t bring herself to call him Dad.

"No... I just remembered some things," Hayden murmured softly, and then abruptly asked Abigail, "If she had not been with me, would those tragic things have happened?"

"If you two weren’t together, I wouldn’t exist," Abigail guessed something and responded, while staring at Hayden, "Do you know something?"

Hayden had been acting strangely since the morning. Although he was shocked last night and even apologized to her, it was not at all like today. Every action he took seemed as if he was making amends to her without any limit, which was not in line with his character.

Plus, seeing Hayden’s initial reaction to Clara Smith, Abigail guessed at a certain possibility.

Sure enough, after hesitating for a while, Hayden slowly said, "I had a dream last night, and I saw some things in the dream, which were similar to what you told me, only the dream felt more real."

So real that it scared him.

That’s why he chose to flee the moment he saw Clara Smith.

He was afraid that he would bring her misfortune.

But Abigail’s words reminded him that if he didn’t get together with Clara, he wouldn’t have Abigail, which put Hayden in a tough spot.

Seeing Hayden’s troubled expression, Abigail couldn’t help but let out a light laugh, "Do you have so little confidence in yourself?"

"I..." Hayden froze, realizing that he had been swayed by fear in his heart for a moment, forgetting that many things had already changed, and that he knew what the crisis was and had a way to deal with it. The last thing he should do was to run away.

Sighing, Hayden looked at Abigail seriously and said, "I understand now."

Abigail nodded happily, suddenly looking forward to witnessing the romance between her parents.

"Wait here for me, I’ll go get the car." Hayden, having come to terms with his thoughts, was in no rush and spoke to Abigail in a light tone before going to get the car. He had specifically borrowed a sedan today to take Abigail shopping.

Abigail watched him jog away, looking radiant and even more handsome, and couldn’t help but smile, feeling that the world was miraculous. But before she had time to be happy for long, a tender yellow figure suddenly appeared behind her, speaking in a domineering tone, "What is your relationship with Master Bell?"

Although Clara Smith’s voice had changed quite a bit with age, Abigail recognized it immediately from the first sentence and slowly turned around.

Looking at the young and tender Clara Smith, who seemed as if she could be squeezed for water, and then thinking of the woman in the wheelchair who was always reserved and seldom joked, Abigail was momentarily lost in thought. But the fresh young girl in front of her took her absentmindedness for contempt, and anger rose on her beautiful face, "Speak up, what is your relationship with Master Bell? Why did he buy you so many things, do you know how hard it is for him to earn money!"

Her tone was unmistakably that of a wife catching a home-wrecker.

Abigail couldn’t help but feel amused, realizing that the young Clara Smith was indeed not easy-going or good-tempered, and it was a wonder that she met Hayden when she did, otherwise how could Hayden have fallen for such a fiery girl?

Abigail did not hold back her disdain for her biological mother one bit.

"I know, but what if he likes to buy me stuff? Why don’t you ask him to buy you something too?" Unable to control her sharp tongue, Abigail couldn’t help but mock her own mother.

"You... have no shame!" Clara Smith was struck speechless with fury, her eyes reddening as she found it difficult to accept that the man she liked actually had a girlfriend who seemed to care so little for him.

At this moment, Clara’s friend who had been standing behind her stepped forward, gently tugging on her, "Clara, let’s not stoop to her level. Besides, Hayden Bell isn’t right for you. Let’s go."

Clara Smith was unwilling to give up, stubbornly staring at Abigail with a face full of grievance, "No, I can’t let this woman harm Master Bell. I must reveal her true face to him."

"But..."

Abigail could no longer hear their conversation, her gaze fixed intently on the girl next to Clara Smith. She never dreamt she would one day see Minnie Swift again.

How could she forget? Minnie Swift and Clara Smith were friends when they were young, and now, both still youthful, with different styles yet equally breathtaking beauty, they stand out even in this era with their distinctive elegance.

Abigail was so moved she wanted to cry. The two mothers in this world, young, healthy, and beautiful, were standing in front of her, untouched by the weathering of time.

"Hey, what are you daydreaming about? I’m talking to you," Clara Smith demanded, aggravated upon realizing that the young woman across from her was lost in thought.

"Ah? Oh, what did you just say?" Abigail came back to her senses, putting on an expression of an eager student.

The response from Abigail caught Clara Smith off guard, but she quickly regained her composure, "I told you to leave Master Bell. You’re not worthy of him."

"I’m not worthy of him, so you are?" Abigail retorted.

Clara Smith was momentarily stumped by the question, but for the sake of her pride, she held her head high, "Of course. Nobody but me is worthy of Hayden Bell!"

"That’s what you say," Abigail suddenly replied, giving Clara Smith a sly smile.

Clara Smith felt a bad premonition rising in her heart, but before she could figure out what it was, she saw Hayden Bell, who had somehow appeared beside them. He looked as though he had been standing there for a while, and it was uncertain how much of their conversation he had overheard.

Clara Smith was mortified with shame and rage, glaring at Abigail, seeing her as a woman full of schemes.

Little did she know that no sooner had she glared, she saw Abigail happily running to Hayden Bell’s side. Clara suspected something bad; the scheming woman was likely going to tattle.

However, as Clara Smith was bracing herself to be despised by Hayden Bell, she heard the sharp-tongued girl cheerfully say to him, "I’ve found you the only beautiful girl in the whole world who’s worthy of you. Do you want her?"

Clara Smith was shocked and somewhat confused by the girl’s tactics, but she knew Hayden Bell’s personality. Feeling awkward and flustered, she grabbed Minnie Swift’s hand and thought of running away.

But as she moved to leave, Hayden Bell turned to her, "Were you serious about what you just said?"

Clara Smith felt as if paralyzed in that moment, staring blankly at the man she had secretly adored for so long, finding it hard to believe that his focused gaze was on her, that he was asking her a question. She felt as if thrown into a cotton bundle, barely able to react, only managing to nod mechanically.

Hayden Bell laughed suddenly at her nod.

His laugh was like a warm breeze in March, enchanting Clara Smith to blush, but what stunned her even more were his next words, "You’re right, I think so too. So, do you want to try being my girlfriend?"

Clara Smith felt she must be going crazy, otherwise how could she possibly hear Hayden Bell confessing to her. She turned her head and pinched Minnie Swift fiercely, then murmured in disappointment, "It doesn’t hurt. It must be a dream."

Minnie Swift said faintly, "You pinched me, of course you wouldn’t feel it."

Clara Smith immediately jumped up, "Are you saying this is real? Master Bell wants me to be his girlfriend? How is that possible?"

"Be a little reserved," Minnie chided her.

Once Clara realized what she had done, she felt incredibly embarrassed, only to see Hayden gazing at her gently and without any disdain. For a moment, she felt like she was dreaming again and turned to look at the girl from before, only to find the other covering her eyes with her hands, peering through her fingers at her in a way that was hard to describe.

"Cough cough..." Clara felt awkward.

Seeing that she didn’t respond to his question, Hayden wasn’t annoyed, "I know it might feel abrupt, and you can’t answer me right away, it’s okay, I can wait for you to consider..."

"No need to consider, I agree, I agree!" Clara interrupted Hayden even before he could finish, as if afraid he might change his mind.

Abigail wanted to cover her eyes again. She really hadn’t expected the Clara Smith of the past to be so bold, but then she thought about her personality later on and felt incredibly heartbroken.

But the next moment, she wouldn’t be able to feel sorry for her. As soon as Clara agreed to Hayden, she turned the tables on Abigail, "Now that I’m your girlfriend, who is she? Why is she spending your money so recklessly?"

Hayden was taken aback, then chuckled, "What? You want to start managing my finances so soon?"

Clara’s ears turned red with embarrassment when she heard that, but listened as Hayden added gently, "That’s fine. As for her, she’s someone we both need to dote on."

"Huh?" Clara was somewhat confused as she looked at the person in front of her. More than the latter part, she wanted to know if the first part of his sentence meant what she thought it did—when he said ’that’s fine,’ did he mean it was fine for her to manage his finances?

"Don’t be so eager; you’ll scare her," Abigail warned Hayden while covering her eyes.

Hayden suddenly understood, "Sorry, I was too forward."

Clara shook her head frantically. She didn’t find it abrupt at all, instead feeling like she had been hit by a pie from heaven. And it was sweet.

Abigail, on the other hand, "..."

Mom, do you know how to write the word ’reserve’? At least be consistent with the values of this era!

Minnie Swift was speechless at the antics of the two in front of her when the girl next to Hayden Bell leaned close and murmured, "Don’t ever get married in Gills City, please don’t!"

The moment the girl finished speaking, Hayden ahead beckoned her to get in the car. Abigail suddenly reached out and pinched Minnie’s hand, "You must remember!"

Minnie stood there dazed, only to see her friend tug at her, whispering with a bit of shyness, "Let’s go, Hayden said he’d take us home."

"Oh." Minnie came back to her senses and followed along.

Sitting in the small car borrowed by Hayden, Abigail suddenly felt a wave of sleepiness, a certain suspicion flashing through her mind as she suddenly clutched the Hayden next to her, "Dad, I think I’m about to go back..."

After she finished speaking, everything went black before Abigail’s eyes.
