Chapter 810: Chapter 810: Abigail, it turns out you fancy me so much

When the fireworks burst into bloom, Benjamin Jones had just finished his shower, and the lights in the room suddenly dimmed. Following a moment of discomfort, he saw the colorful fireworks outside the floor-to-ceiling windows. Perhaps due to the angle, they looked more beautiful than before, but his mood was anything but.

He clearly understood what the fireworks signified.

Although Abigail had subtly rejected him today, she had not accepted Brandon Piers’s proposal either. There still remained a sliver of hope in his heart, but now that hope was crushed into dust. All he could do was to bitterly smile and shake the wine in his glass, and then...

Benjamin Jones dialed his assistant’s phone, "Go to Rose Valley tomorrow to inventory the wine I’ve collected, and then send a bill to Master Brandon."

After hanging up, Benjamin Jones downed half a glass of wine in one gulp.

Meanwhile, Joshua Piers sat in the dark studio, watching the fireworks outside, a sneer of self-mockery on his lips. He had anticipated this outcome, but it still displeased him. It seemed like he was always losing to that man. He had thought that his return to the country would finally expose his rival’s weaknesses, but in a twist of fate, not only did Brandon clear his name completely, but he also swiftly dealt with Oliver Piers and his son, and took the opportunity to reorganize and reform the Piers Corporation.

In the end, everything he did turned out to benefit that person.

And the only woman who moved his heart still belonged to the other man.

Joshua Piers took a deep breath, watching the brilliant colors in the dense night, and suddenly splashed a bucket of black paint on it.

Instantly, the beige canvas was stained with a dense black tint that seemed impenetrable, filling the room with the thick scent of turpentine until the magnificent colors in the sky faded, but new brilliant colors bloomed on the canvas.

Compared to Benjamin and Joshua, Jeffrey Foster was particularly serene.

He couldn’t see the lights go out, nor could he see the fireworks. He could only hear the booming sounds in the city’s night sky. If not for having heard it previously, he might not have been able to distinguish the noise, but he knew these were fireworks because he had heard them before.

How could a residential area have fireworks two times consecutively? Although Jeffrey couldn’t see, he knew that in a place like Swallow City fireworks couldn’t be launched casually, especially in the same neighborhood.

Therefore, the most likely scenario was that these fireworks belonged to the same batch.

But why would Brandon Piers, having been rejected already, launch fireworks a second time? The reason was not difficult to guess.

Jeffrey rubbed his hands at the window, listening to the sounds and looking towards the direction where the fireworks were abundant. He was not surprised at all.

Ever since he left Durin, he knew the Abigail that belonged to him no longer existed, and in this world, no one would forever wait for someone else.

In the past, he never understood why it was Brandon Piers. Sometimes he awoke in the middle of the night feeling unwilling to accept it, but today’s Brandon made him deeply realize why he had lost.

In front of a loved one, other things seemed so insignificant, but he did not understand that before. By the time he realized it, it was already too late to turn back.

Thinking of this, Jeffrey Foster gave a bitter smile, whispering softly towards the direction where the fireworks were blossoming, "Abigail, be happy." Only if you are happy do I feel my loss is worthwhile.

As the last trace of color faded into the night, the entire city quieted down, the lights that were turned on dimmed one by one until the whole city was plunged into darkness. Yet in this darkness, some finally found happiness, while others remained alone.

Behind each light, there lies a different story.

...

The first thing Brandon Piers did upon opening his eyes was to reach out and feel for the person beside him, ensuring that Abigail was still in his arms. He sighed a long sigh of relief, his tightly wound nerves finally relaxing, as he turned to look at the person in his arms, a smile curling at his lips, and he pecked gently on Abigail’s lips.

Abigail’s biological clock was very punctual, and she was awakened with just a light touch from Brandon Piers. When she opened her eyes, she was momentarily confused, but soon remembered what happened last night, her cheeks blushed slightly as she asked in a slightly hoarse voice, "What time is it? Shouldn’t you be heading to the office?"

"It’s Saturday today." Brandon Piers couldn’t hide the smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he looked at the person in his arms.

"Oh, then I’ll sleep a bit more." Upon hearing it was Saturday, Abigail turned over and closed her eyes again, exhausted and sleepy from last night’s activities and not at all wanting to get up.

Brandon Piers couldn’t help but curve his lips up again, "Mm, then sleep a while longer, I’ll stay with you."

Abigail buried her head in Brandon Piers’ shoulder, murmured an agreement in her muffled voice, and fell asleep again.

Brandon Piers wrapped his arms around her with his long arm and closed his eyes as well.

When Abigail woke up again, it was already late morning. She rolled over to find the other side of the bed empty, instantaneously sat up, and began recalling the events of the previous night, finally confirming it wasn’t a dream. She looked down at the blanket on her, which wasn’t hers, and let out a sigh of relief, wondering where the man had gone when she suddenly heard roaring laughter coming from outside.

The sound of her son’s voice completely awakened Abigail. After stretching lazily, she was about to get out of bed when the bedroom door was gently pushed open, and Abigail quickly grabbed the blanket.

When Brandon Piers entered, he saw Abigail holding the blanket to her chest and chuckled, raising an eyebrow, "Awake? Hungry? I’ve brought Teddy over, and Aunt Claudia is in the kitchen preparing some food, how about getting up and eating something first?"

Abigail bashfully hummed in agreement, just as Brandon Piers handed her the clothes he had already prepared. Just as she reached out to take them, the man in front of her suddenly reached out, pulled her up, and held her in his embrace.

Caught off guard, Abigail yelped in surprise, and her entire body was pressed against Brandon Piers’ chest. Looking up, she saw the man smirking at her.

Abigail glared at him irritatedly, "Why are you so annoying?"

"Annoying but irresistibly delightful? Abigail, turns out you’re quite fond of me," Brandon Piers shamelessly stated.

Abigail gave Brandon Piers a deep look, "I concede defeat."

Brandon Piers laughed, "Quick, get dressed, or Teddy will start teasing you."

"Whose fault is that? Hmph." Abigail huffed and hurriedly went to change clothes.

By the time she came out of the bedroom, Teddy had already eaten his fill and was now happily playing with Threo, gleefully rushing over to his mom upon spotting her.

Just as Abigail was about to hold her little one, Brandon Piers swiftly extended his long arms and already had Teddy in his arms.

With her arms hanging empty, Abigail couldn’t help but look at the man, only to hear Brandon Piers righteously reply, "He’s heavy."

Feeling slighted for being considered heavy, Teddy struggled vigorously with his little legs in Brandon Piers’ embrace, which led Brandon Piers to toss him up and down by his rear collar a few times. Instantly soothed, the little one chuckled in his father’s embrace and ended up wanting more tosses from Brandon Piers.

After Abigail had her breakfast, little Teddy continued clinging to Brandon Piers. Father and son played chase in the living room, followed by a big dog, creating a scene both amusing and heartwarming.

Abigail couldn’t resist pulling out her phone and capturing the moment.

By the time Teddy had played enough, it was already 11 a.m. Brandon Piers, holding the little tyke, sat next to Abigail and said, "I’m planning to go back to the estate for a bit, then head over to Courtyard House after. Do you want to come with me?"

Though Brandon Piers casually asked if she wanted to come with him, his amber-colored eyes were filled with nothing but eager anticipation.

Abigail looked at him and could probably guess what he meant, "Are you in such a hurry?"

"With three wolves casting covetous eyes on you, can’t I be anxious?" Brandon Piers was straightforward and he urgently wanted to tell his grandfather about his successful proposal, but most importantly, he wanted to set a wedding date.

If he could, he would rather go get the marriage certificate right away to bind Abigail firmly, so that those people would stop always thinking about her in their minds.

Abigail, hearing this, was speechless, but she was a decisive person. Since she had accepted his proposal last night, she wasn’t too melodramatic, "Well, let’s go then."

Upon hearing this, Brandon Piers suddenly pulled Abigail close and kissed her lips hard, and seeing this scene, Teddy, happily put his little face forward, "Mommy, kiss."

He wants a kiss too.

Abigail laughed, leaned over, and kissed her son’s little cheek.

Little did she know that Brandon Piers was dissatisfied, "Abigail, you always take the initiative to kiss him."

Abigail, "..."You’re jealous about this?

Facing the man’s ’if you don’t kiss me, I won’t get up’ look, Abigail playfully glared at Brandon Piers. Then she looked around to make sure no one else was watching before she leaned in to kiss Brandon Piers.

Brandon Piers, now quite satisfied, raised his eyebrows at his son, a boastful posture that made Abigail can’t help covering her face.

Only after agreeing did Abigail discover that Brandon Piers had arranged everything; after changing her clothes upstairs, they could immediately leave, making her feel suddenly like she was on a bandit’s ship.

Unfortunately, it was too late for regrets.

When they arrived at the manor, Elder Piers had already had Housekeeper Piers waiting outside. After the group went in, Grayson Piers gave Brandon Piers a thumbs up upon seeing him.

Brandon Piers took it not as a disgrace but as an honor and openly accepted his grandfather’s compliment.

Watching from the side, Abigail wanted to cover her face again.

During lunch at the manor, while Abigail still preferred the meals here compared to those in Rose Valley, the man beside her was discussing wedding matters with the elder the whole time, from the wedding date down to the packaging of the wedding candy.

As Abigail listened, she was dumbfounded, then an uncontrollable sweetness surged in her heart.

Seeing that Abigail was continuously eating, Elder Piers, with disdain, looked at his grandson who was speaking animatedly and without any reservation and interrupted, "With all you’re saying, it ultimately depends on what Abigail wants, right?"

"Of course, these are just my preliminary drafts, and I will present all the plans to Abigail later for her to choose her favorite," Brandon Piers quickly replied.

"What does Abigail think?" Elder Piers looked disdainfully at his grandson and directly asked Abigail.

Abigail laughed lightly, "I’ll listen to him, but I’d like the wedding to not be too extravagant. Simply inviting some close friends and family would be enough."

She didn’t really have any concept of a wedding; if it were up to her, she’d just get a marriage certificate as there really was no need for the hassle, probably because being a doctor had accustomed her to simplicity.

Moreover, even though the outcome of their engagement was good, many things had happened during it, overall it wasn’t a very pleasant experience.

"Okay, I’ll listen to you." Brandon Piers knew what Abigail was thinking and agreed without hesitation. Although Piers Corporation is now relatively stable, it still can’t withstand even the slightest disturbance, and the wedding must not be too high-profile.

Seeing that Brandon had no objections, Abigail felt relieved.

After finalizing everything with Elder Piers, Brandon went to Old Mr. Smith’s Courtyard House with gifts in the afternoon.

Having been informed beforehand, Church Smith and Clara Smith were both present, but the father-daughter duo showed obvious disdain for Abigail. They had seen Abigail reject Brandon the previous night and thought she would show some perseverance, yet she didn’t even last one night and came the next day to propose directly.

Abigail originally didn’t think much of it, but she realized what she had done due to the contempt from her grandfather and mother. Suddenly, her fair and delicate face blushed fiercely. While Brandon went to discuss matters with them, she hid in the kitchen with Aunt Claudia the entire time.

Dinner was at the Courtyard House, where Abigail watched Brandon talk and drink with her grandfather and mother, pretending to be obedient.

Fortunately, whatever Brandon did appeased the father and daughter, and they stopped showing disdain during the meal. However, Clara couldn’t help drinking a few extra glasses, and she still muttered to herself when Abigail was leaving.

Brandon couldn’t make out what Clara was saying, but Abigail, with her sharp senses, accidentally caught it, leaving her somewhat stunned as she got into the car.

"What’s wrong?" Although Brandon had some drinks, he noticed immediately that Abigail was feeling off.

Abigail leaned halfway over and whispered softly, "I just heard mom talking about something."

Brandon was slightly surprised, "What did she say?"

"She must be drunk speaking to Hayden Bell," Abigail whispered resting on Brandon’s shoulder, not waiting for Brandon to ask more, she continued, "She said, Hayden did you see? Our daughter has grown up, so beautiful, doesn’t look like you or me, and found herself a fiancé too pretty for words. But the kid is pretty reliable, you can be at ease below..."

Brandon reached out to stroke Abigail’s head, not wanting her to dwell on bad emotions, and slightly narcissistically said, "Yeah, Mom is right, I am pretty reliable."

Abigail chuckled lightly, "You’re not modest at all, but who agreed you can call her mom?"

"I saved us a sum of hush money; she should be happy about that," Brandon said thick-skinned.

Having seen the thickness of his skin many times, Abigail was not surprised. She pinched Brandon’s face, "Let me measure its thickness to see if it’s as thick as the manor’s outer walls."

"Hmm, must be fair to both sides, measure both," Brandon turned his face to make it easier for Abigail to pinch.

Observing the once proud and aloof man transformed into what he is today, Abigail found it both amusing and miraculous. Maybe it was because last night was too tiring, and she had been busy all day, she didn’t fuss for long before leaning on Brandon’s legs and falling asleep.

In her daze, Abigail opened her eyes only to find out she was neither in the car nor was Brandon by her side, but entirely in an unfamiliar environment. She became a bit panicked, calling Brandon, but couldn’t find him anywhere. Instead, she noticed her surroundings looked old-fashioned as though from a scene in an 80s movie.

Abigail was stunned for a moment, then bit her wrist, immediately letting go because of the pain, and then shockingly realized that she might have traveled through time.

What the hell?

Unable to control her emotions, Abigail swallowed and tried to understand the situation, only to be suddenly bumped aside as a young girl beside her shouted, "Hurry, hurry, Hayden Bell is coming, Hayden Bell is coming..."

The nearly knocked-down Abigail was even more confused, "Hayden Bell?"
