Chapter 802: Chapter 802: Abigail Green’s Fiancé

Abigail spoke and, seeing that Brandon Piers didn’t move, she raised her eyebrows slightly, "Hmm?"

Brandon, with a forced smile, handed the spoon to his son.

Teddy took the fork, quite happy, completely oblivious to his own father’s body growing more and more rigid. He poked the fried egg right in the center of the plate, creating a hole at the edge without catching any of the food. Unperturbed, he switched to the heart-shaped apple slice and continued stabbing, turning a dishful of food into a mess of myriad shapes - some pieces broken, some squashed, with no discernible form left.

Brandon felt uncomfortable all over and had to suppress the urge to throw his son out, but instead, he turned and smiled at Abigail.

Abigail returned a more radiant smile to Brandon.

The atmosphere around the dining table was indescribably odd.

Aunt Claudia knew about Master Brandon’s compulsive habits. The sight made her both amused and sympathetic. Lois, on the other hand, was completely lost as to what was happening, simply assuming this was how the homeowner educated his child.

The meal left Brandon feeling uncomfortable all over, his mind haunted by the hole in the round fried egg and the missing bite from the heart-shaped apple.

Barely enduring until the end of breakfast, he saw Abigail heading upstairs first. Without thinking too much, Brandon quickly fed the remaining food to his son as soon as Abigail left. But just as he finished feeding, down came Abigail wearing ripped jeans and a clashingly colored shirt—one half white, the other half blue-striped—making Brandon gasp, "That wicked woman."

To make matters worse, Abigail, dressed like this, went over to Pinky and casually put a hat on it, one side normal, the other looking as though a dog had chewed it.

And it didn’t stop there. After fitting Pinky with the hat, Abigail called over Threo, then dressed him in a baby-pink colored outfit that didn’t fit his build at all. But the mismatch wasn’t the point. The fact that the top was pink, and three of the legs were pink, leaving one leg undressed exposing Threo’s wild silver fur, that was the point.

Brandon took a deep breath, but it was in vain. He wanted to call Threo over to get his clothes off but met Abigail’s warning gaze and, helplessly, Brandon beat a hasty retreat.

Once alone, Abigail couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Aunt Claudia chided her with amusement, "You’ve learned to be a bad girl."

Abigail shrugged, "Have I?"

Then she waved at Teddy, "Come, Mommy will change your clothes."

Teddy, hearing about new clothes, was very excited. Then Aunt Claudia saw Teddy’s original outfit morph into a bizarre mix and match style; it was a two-piece with one half yellow and the other half red, looking like a dish of scrambled eggs with tomatoes.

Aunt Claudia and Lois both turned their gaze toward Abigail, speechless. "..." What was she intending to do?

Their confusion was not yet over when they saw Brandon, who had just left, return. However, he stood at the doorway, nearly having a meltdown at the sight of Teddy’s handsome face, his slender amber eyes fixed on Abigail’s face, trying hard not to look anywhere else, and with a plaintive tone, "Abigail, I still have to go to the office later."

"Sure, go ahead," Abigail said, waving her hand magnanimously.

Brandon, "..."

Seeing the clothes on his son, Brandon felt like he was suffocating. He couldn’t help himself and went ahead to change Teddy’s clothes, dressing him properly in a single outfit. He also called over Threo, making sure the undressed leg was covered, removed the hat from Pinky, and finally, his gaze fell on Abigail.

Abigail crossed her arms and watched Brandon Piers finish up, then, as he provocatively raised his eyebrows at her, she had no idea that he would lean in and whisper, "If you don’t change, believe it or not, I’ll strip you naked!"

The previously arrogant Abigail conceded, "...You’re ruthless!"

It was only after Abigail went upstairs and changed into a more appropriate outfit that Brandon finally breathed a sigh of relief. At that moment, the doorbell rang outside. Aunt Claudia glanced outside and saw that it was Teddy’s early education teacher, so she informed Abigail and opened the door.

As soon as Sophia Patel walked in, she saw that incomparably handsome man in the living room, and her heart uncontrollably skipped a beat, but she calmly greeted Abigail and the others.

Upon hearing the sound, Brandon turned around and saw Sophia Patel, his eyebrows slightly furrowing, "Early education teacher?"

"Yeah, Grandpa arranged it," Abigail explained briefly, seeing Brandon’s strange reaction and knowing his tendency for high vigilance.

After hearing her explanation, Brandon hummed in acknowledgment, "I’m off to the company, I’ll come to see you and Teddy tonight."

Abigail wanted to say who asked you to come, but due to the presence of guests, she could only nod in agreement.

Seeing this, Brandon left cheerfully with a kiss on Abigail’s forehead, then took Pinky’s broken hat and left the villa.

Once Brandon had left, Abigail spoke to Sophia Patel but didn’t get a response for a long while. When she looked over, she found Sophia Patel staring at her absent-mindedly. Abigail touched her own face curiously and softly called out, "Miss Locke, Miss Locke..."

"Ah? I’m sorry, Miss Green," Sophia Patel quickly regained her composure and apologized to Abigail.

Abigail glanced at Sophia Patel, "It’s okay, I have to go out in a bit, and I’ll leave Teddy with you. Aunt Claudia, you and Lois take good care of Miss Locke."

"Sure, go ahead with your things," Aunt Claudia waved her hand to show Abigail that there was no need to worry about the house.

Abigail acknowledged and left the villa with her bag in hand, but a hint of suspicion arose in her heart—did Miss Locke know Brandon?

But she soon thought that in Swallow City, there weren’t many women who didn’t know that ’monster,’ so she didn’t dwell on it.

In the afternoon, when she came out of the research lab at half past six, she didn’t see Hughes or the car. Instead, Brandon was leaning against his Maybach like a peacock in full display. In a short time, the men and women emerging from the lab were casting their eyes towards him, both intentionally and unintentionally.

Just as Abigail hesitated whether to walk over or not, a colleague from the neighboring research group, who didn’t quite get along with her, suddenly boldly approached Brandon.

Abigail stopped in her tracks, feeling inexplicably angry and didn’t move forward, rather she just stood with one hand in her pocket, watching Brandon being hit on.

Brandon naturally felt Abigail’s gaze and gave a slight smile to the white-coated female researcher, a smile that almost mesmerized her, before he leisurely spoke up, "Sorry, my fiancee is very jealous and doesn’t like me adding strange women."

Just now, the colleague had seen Brandon smile at her and thought she might have a chance, but the sudden rejection was a blow to her pride. Especially since she had just seen Abigail Green approaching this way. Although she hadn’t delved into the background of this popular figure in the research lab, she knew about the latter being the fiancee of a rich third-generation heir, a sickly person who had never been seen at the hospital.

In her view, to put it nicely, Abigail Green was someone’s fiancee, and speaking unpleasantly, she was just a mistress kept on the outside. Yet she acted so high and mighty, inserting herself into a project that others had been researching for years, and she wondered how Abigail wasn’t embarrassed to accept awards in M Kingdom. She’s always detested such women.

"Oh, that’s not what I meant, I was just playing Truth or Dare with friends, please just help me out, sir," the woman explained on her behalf.

"Sorry, I can’t help you." Brandon Piers once again cruelly rejected the other party, then strode over to Abigail, who was watching the commotion, and his tone softened, "Tired today?"

"Not really." The moment Brandon Piers stepped forward, the female researcher also looked over, meeting Abigail’s gaze. After responding to Brandon, Abigail nodded to the other party, "Senior Sister Ford."

Phoenix Hudson was startled, then thought of a possibility, disbelief in her eyes. Was this exquisitely beautiful man, so stunning that one glance could send your heart racing, really Abigail Green’s fiancé? Impossible!

"Junior Sister Green." Phoenix Hudson replied reluctantly, but Brandon Piers had already pulled Abigail into the car without giving the other party another glance.

Watching the expensive Maybach drive away, Phoenix Hudson immediately pulled out her phone to search for information about Abigail Green’s fiancé, quickly finding a long list of news, including interviews with her fiancé.

Before, Phoenix Hudson had only heard from other groups that Abigail Green was lucky to have found a third-generation wealthy fiancé, had a child before marriage, and even snatched someone else’s research results, so she particularly disliked her and had never bothered to find out more. But she hadn’t expected her fiancé to be so outstanding and, from the looks of it, to seem especially caring towards Abigail Green.

Phoenix Hudson felt as sour as if she’d eaten a lemon, and muttered to the others nearby while watching the luxury car drive off, "It’s just a show. If her fiancé really cared about her that much, wouldn’t they be married by now?"

Someone chimed in with agreement, and Phoenix Hudson felt somewhat better.

Meanwhile, Abigail was unaware of all this. As soon as Brandon Piers drove the car away from the vicinity of the Medical University, Abigail noticed they were not heading towards the villa and frowned at the man, "Where are you taking me?"

"To eat." Brandon’s answer was succinct. He naturally wouldn’t tell Abigail that at this time, Benjamin Jones should be nearly bumping into Jeffrey Foster; if she went back now, she would likely run into both of them.

But Abigail was dissatisfied with the response, "I don’t agree, take me back."

"Don’t worry, Hughes and Pullan have gone to take care of Teddy, he won’t throw a tantrum," Brandon deliberately misinterpreted Abigail’s meaning.

Abigail felt that this man was really shameless, always clinging on in a tiresome way, but looking at his prosperous beauty, she couldn’t be too harsh and was about to nod when her phone rang—it was Aunt Claudia.

Usually, Aunt Claudia wouldn’t call her, and a call would mean it was about Teddy. Without thinking, Abigail hurriedly answered the phone, only to hear Aunt Claudia say anxiously, "Abigail, Teddy just had a little fall, and now he can’t be calmed down at all, crying non-stop for you."

"Quick, back to Rose Valley." As soon as she heard this, Abigail couldn’t care less about Brandon Piers and urgently urged him to return.

Brandon Piers, at Abigail’s side, heard Aunt Claudia’s voice and the urgent tone, which clearly involved Teddy, and without hesitation, he turned the car around.

The car sped towards Rose Valley at top speed, with Abigail sitting anxiously in the passenger seat, peering outside. However, as they passed near Benjamin Jones’ villa, she suddenly froze, then frowned and continued to look, but the car had already sped past.

At this moment, Brandon’s mind was full of his son, and he drove with total concentration, forgetting about Jeffrey Foster until they got out of the car. Then, remembering, he glanced at Abigail, only to see that she had already rushed back to the villa and to Teddy’s side. The little guy, worn out from crying, sat on the ground hiccupping with sobs, looking pitiful. Abigail’s heart ached as she scooped her son into her arms, "Teddy, don’t cry, Mommy’s back, Mommy’s back..."

As soon as she spoke, Teddy, with a heartbroken expression, opened his small mouth again, but fortunately, after being rocked in Abigail’s arms for a while, he quieted down, burying his little head in her embrace.

Brandon Piers watched this scene, his eyes coldly sweeping around the room, finally landing on Pullan.

Pullan hastily waved his hands, "Master Brandon, it wasn’t me!"

If it wasn’t you, why do you look so guilty?" Brandon Piers asked unhappily.

Before Pullan had the chance to answer, a small and charming figure rushed out from behind him, tears in her eyes as she looked at Brandon Piers, "Master Brandon, I’m sorry, Master Brandon, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault, I accidentally knocked over little master, please don’t blame anyone else."

Brandon Piers knitted his brows, looking toward Aunt Claudia.

Teddy’s crying had Aunt Claudia breaking out in a sweat, and only now did she catch her breath, shaking her head at Brandon Piers, "You can’t blame Miss Locke entirely for this, there were so many people around, it’s not one person’s fault that the child fell."

"Hmm," Brandon Piers nodded, "You all go back."

Hughes and Pullan hurriedly withdrew, but Sophia Patel hesitated, her voice choked with sobs, "Master Brandon, I want to wait until Teddy feels a bit better before leaving, is that okay?"

After hearing this, Brandon Piers glanced at her without any change in expression, neither agreeing nor rejecting.

Sophia Patel took Brandon’s silence as consent and stood cautiously beside Teddy and Abigail.

It took a while for Abigail to soothe Teddy until the little one started to smile, and everyone in the room sighed in relief.

After Teddy felt a bit better, Abigail checked his entire body to make sure there were no injuries, and then casually placed her hand over the back of Teddy’s head to confirm that he really was unharmed before picking up the little guy. But then she noticed Sophia Patel was still there, her brow slightly furrowed, "It’s getting late, let Hughes escort Miss Locke."

"No need, I can manage on my own. Today’s incident is entirely my fault, I beg Miss Green for your forgiveness," Sophia Patel apologized to Abigail while bowing.

Abigail’s eyebrows knitted together. Although she had been busy soothing Teddy, she had heard Aunt Claudia’s explanation. Now, seeing Sophia Patel looking pitifully apologetic towards her, almost as if she were a delicate flower in the rain, made her feel like she was being painted as some kind of monster, "No need, you should head back now."

"Hmm..." With that, Sophia Patel’s tears began to fall again, making her seem even more fragile.

But the attention of the few people in the living room was all on Teddy and Abigail, and they did not notice her. Abigail glanced at her twice, then carried Teddy upstairs to the bedroom.

Aunt Claudia saw Sophia Patel out, then came back murmuring softly, "This young lady must not have experienced much to be so easily frightened, but what just happened was indeed quite dangerous. Poor little Teddy, let Aunt Claudia kiss it better for you."

Abigail stayed silent upon hearing this but looked over at Brandon Piers who had followed. Seeing no change in his expression, she lowered her head and continued to coddle Teddy.

The little one must have been exhausted from crying, for he fell asleep after drinking from his bottle for a while. Only then did Abigail carefully place him in bed.

After tucking him in, Abigail left the bedroom and finally had a moment to think about the familiar silhouette she saw as they passed Benjamin Jones’s villa.

"Are you hungry? Let’s eat something first." Brandon Piers was still feeling anxious inside, not knowing whether Abigail had seen Jeffrey Foster, and not daring to probe, he could only urge her to eat.

Abigail was indeed hungry and nodded her head, walking downstairs. Just when Brandon Piers began to relax, Abigail suddenly stopped and turned to look back at him.

Brandon felt on edge from her gaze, "Abigail, what’s wrong?"

"It’s nothing." Maybe she just saw wrong. Why would Jeffrey Foster be here!

Brandon Piers let out a heavy sigh of relief, realizing he needed to find a way to quickly deal with the big trouble that was Jeffrey Foster.
