Reborn as Mr.CEO's Fat Wife-Chapter 789: Released Loneliness
Chapter 789: Chapter 789: Released Loneliness
Pullan stared blankly at the chat screen with the second young master, the red exclamation mark glaringly obvious. He wished he could find a hole to hide in.
Unfortunately, given his size and stature, hiding was not an option, but deleting his Facebook Circle was definitely a priority.
Once Pullan’s brain snapped back into action, he immediately cleared his Facebook Circle. He then warned everyone in the group not to leak any more photos. However, warnings were useless as those who had seen it had already seen it, and those who shouldn’t have seen it had also seen it.
Pullan’s heart sank as he stayed in the guest room on the first floor of Abigail’s villa, praying that he wouldn’t suffer too badly.
On the second floor, Abigail lay on the bed for a long time before getting up. After a simple shower, she dried her hair and waited for her phone to ring, but it never did. Her already bad mood worsened. Rationally, she knew she shouldn’t be angry with Brandon during this time, but emotionally, she couldn’t control herself.
This feeling was particularly awful.
Abigail held her phone, wanting to call Brandon and ask him what he meant. But she felt she couldn’t control her temper, and calling him would only make things worse.
Hesitating, Abigail opened her phone and stared at the message from Brandon for a while longer. Her mood darkened even further. Just then, her phone made a ding sound. She composed herself and exited the chat with Brandon. She saw that Lena had sent a message, which was a group photo they had taken at Grandpa Smith’s house that afternoon.
"Almost forgot to send you this photo. Abigail, you look beautiful; Teddy is so pretty; and of course, I’m adorable, hahaha." After sending the picture, Lena complimented Abigail and Teddy and didn’t forget to praise herself.
Abigail chuckled, "Praising yourself all grown-up won’t lead to any success."
"Oh come on. I’ve grown up and turned out pretty well." Lena sent a sad emoji after saying this.
Abigail shook her head with a smile. Just as she was about to reply, Lena sent another message, "But Abigail, Lawyer Jones is really handsome. No, super handsome. You two sitting together really give off that couple vibe, like a family of three."
Abigail froze as she was typing. She reopened the photo and stared at it; indeed, the three of them did look like a family in the picture. She suddenly realized that Brandon’s inexplicable message might have been because he saw this photo.
Awakening from her thoughts, Abigail didn’t rush to respond to Lena. She opened her Facebook Circle and browsed but didn’t find anyone sharing the photo. She specifically checked Pullan’s profile but still didn’t find it. Remembering that Pullan mentioned praising Han mom’s cooking, she casually asked Lena, "Didn’t Pullan say he would praise Han mom’s cooking? How come I didn’t see the picture?"
Lena didn’t suspect anything, "He posted it. As soon as I sent him the photo, he shared it. Abigail, don’t you think it’s funny how such a big guy can be so sweet? It’s kinda girly, hahaha."
The mention of Pullan made Abigail laugh. Anyone seeing Pullan’s tough exterior would never guess he was such a cuddly guy inside.
However, hearing Lena’s words and not seeing Pullan’s Facebook Circle anymore, Abigail almost confirmed that Brandon must have seen Pullan’s post and sent her that message out of jealousy. She bit her lip and shared the photo Lena sent her on her Facebook Circle, thoughtfully captioned it with two words: "Miss those times."
After posting, Abigail and Lena continued chatting.
It was already eleven o’clock when Brandon finished his meeting with Luke Scout at the club. After getting in the car, he pulled out his new phone. Gone was their previous chat history. He pulled up Abigail’s contact and after staring at it for a while, he couldn’t decide whether to send her a message. Finally, out of habit, he clicked on her profile picture and saw the same photo he had seen on Pullan’s Facebook Circle. His expression instantly dropped.
What infuriated him even more was Abigail’s caption: "Miss those times."
Miss what? The life she had with Grandpa Smith, or her youthful days with the man sitting next to her?
This "miss" was so broad it drove Brandon mad with jealousy. When he saw Pullan’s Facebook Circle, his initial reaction was jealousy. However, seeing Abigail sharing it herself, he didn’t even want to ask her about it anymore. Although bitter and angry, he knew very well that this was Abigail purposely showing it to him.
It must be her response to his message.
Holding his phone, Brandon remained silent the whole way. Peter, who was driving, wondered if the July weather was too cold and if he should turn on the heater.
But the atmosphere in the car was so oppressive that any big move would seem abrupt. So Peter suppressed the urge to turn on the heat and pressed the gas pedal harder to return the second young master to the manor as quickly as possible.
Despite his efforts, it was already midnight by the time Brandon entered the main house. To his surprise, the old man was still awake, sitting in the dimly lit living room waiting for him.
Brandon had no desire to be lectured. He glanced at his grandfather, "Do you realize this is bad for your health?"
"It’s not that I want to stay up, but I’m too mad to sleep." Grayson glared at his grandson, fuming with anger.
Surprisingly, Brandon did not retort. Instead, he scanned the vast, empty hundred-square-meter living room and then solemnly called out, "Grandpa."
Ready to scold, Grayson hesitated at his grandson’s serious tone, feeling an ominous premonition. He shifted aside, "Don’t expect me to bring your wife and child back if you’ve driven them away. Go chase your own wife."
"It’s not about that." Brandon sat across from his grandfather. Grayson instinctively leaned back warily as Brandon began speaking, "Grandpa, didn’t you say it’s inappropriate for Abigail, who is unmarried, to live in the Piers manor?"
"So you do know. Then why don’t you get married?"
"I transferred the manor’s ownership to Abigail. This way, no one will dare say anything." Brandon bluntly interrupted his grandfather.
Just as Grayson thought that his grandson had finally come to his senses because Abigail left with their child, he fell silent.
"Cough, cough, cough!" It took Grayson a moment to control his coughing. Looking at Brandon, he said, "Say that again."
"I’ll say it again. The manor is now under Abigail’s name." Brandon tried to keep his tone gentle to make it easier for his grandfather to accept.
Bang!
"Very good, extremely good; do you know that this manor has been passed down through generations of the Piers family? And you just give it away?" Grayson was furious. Though he liked Abigail, there was no justification for giving away the family legacy.
Brandon nodded, fully aware of what he had done.
Grayson chuckled angrily, "You know and still... cough..." Halfway through admonishing, Grayson thought of something. "Be honest, what really happened that made you divide the inheritance?"
"I’m just worried that rumors will affect Abigail." Brandon didn’t expect his grandfather to catch on quickly despite his age.
"Ha, you think fooling an old man is fun?" Grayson coldly snorted, becoming even more upset.
Knowing he couldn’t hide the truth, Brandon took a deep breath, "This is just a worst-case scenario."
"Hmph, you think I don’t know your temperament?" Grayson’s voice caught, and after a moment, he sighed heavily, "How much have you kept from me?"
Piers did not know how to answer his grandfather. He had investigated step by step to this point, but if the elder found out that the century-old Piers pharmaceutical enterprise had turned into a nest of toxicity, it would be quite a blow.
"Some evidence cannot be cleared by Benjamin Jones either. They have been very cautious. I may not be able to come out of the trial on the 20th unscathed. It is best to plan ahead as much as possible; besides, giving this manor to Abigail is just like giving it to Teddy. It is still within the Piers family." Piers tried to sound relaxed.
Grayson Piers laughed in anger, "How is that the same? Although I like Abigail, if you are really locked up for ten years or so, will you bear to have Abigail wait for you? If Abigail does not wait for you, she will naturally get married. Once married, Abigail will certainly have children with her husband. What then?"
Having never thought about these things, Brandon Piers was speechless, "..."
"How could you not have considered this? Haha, I used to think your mother was excessive, but now I realize you are truly blinded by love." Grayson Piers’s words were harsh in his anger. After speaking, he felt a bit regretful and sighed, "Forget it. Since you have already given it, it is useless to say more. Get married as soon as possible after everything settles."
The elder always believed that his grandson would be fine.
Having been reprimanded, Brandon silently sent his grandfather back to his room but did not go to bed himself. Instead, he took a shower to wash away the smell of alcohol and returned to the study.
Sitting at his desk, Piers could not focus on work. His grandfather’s words kept echoing in his mind, "If you are really locked up for ten years or so, will you bear to have Abigail wait for you? If Abigail does not wait for you, she will naturally get married. Once married, Abigail will certainly have children with her husband..."
Indeed, he had never considered these things before. More correctly, he had never considered that Abigail would marry someone else.
Even when he initially intended to entrust Abigail to Benjamin Jones, he never truly believed that Abigail would marry him.
But his grandfather’s words awakened him. If something happened to him, Abigail, still young, could not wait for him indefinitely.
Moreover, even if Abigail was willing to wait, how could he bear to let her?
Besides, this incident was not merely about being sentenced...
The more he thought, the worse Piers felt. He took out his phone and opened Abigail’s profile. He had many things to say to her, but at that moment, he felt that nothing was appropriate.
With a sigh, he exited the conversation with Abigail and was about to resume work when his phone vibrated. Piers glanced at it and answered, "Speak."
"Second Young Master, Oliver Piers has begun to take action," Kennan Max reported in a low voice.
"Okay." Brandon responded, stood up, changed his clothes, and quietly left the manor.
He did not return home that night.
...
Rose Valley.
Abigail’s Facebook Circle post was only visible to Brandon Piers. She fell asleep at dawn without receiving a reply from him, let alone an apology.
This had never happened before.
Thinking about recent events, Abigail felt as if a sponge had clogged her heart, leaving her suffocated and uncomfortable. The man across from her did not seem to care, and her attempts to reach out resulted in more frustration.
Tossing and turning in bed, Abigail guessed at various possibilities only to dismiss each one. When checking her Facebook Circle for the umpteenth time and still finding no response, she could not help but mock herself. Had she posted in vain?
Falling asleep with frustration only when dawn broke, Abigail’s rest was fleeting. In her dream, the man intruded but remained silent. Anxious, she kept calling out to Brandon, trying to grasp his hand, only to grab a small chubby one instead.
Suddenly waking up, Abigail saw Teddy trying to poke her with his little hand. Still dazed from the dream, she took a moment to recover.
Self-mocking thoughts filled her mind. Was this not a case of thinking about someone so much during the day that it haunted her dreams?
Snapped back to reality, Abigail saw Teddy on her bed and playfully poked his nose, "You little rascal, how did you get up here?"
Happy that his mom was awake, Teddy snuggled closer to Abigail. Even getting his nose poked did not deter his joyful smile. He could not tell Abigail that he had woken up early, waited for her to come out, and managed to climb out of his crib with Aunt Claudia distracted while fetching a diaper. Together with Threo, they snuck into Abigail’s room and climbed onto her bed.
Abigail looked at her son’s adorable chubby face. The dream’s heartbreak melted away as she pulled the little guy into her arms.
Cuddled by his mom, Teddy’s joy was unconstrained as he called to her, with Threo barking in agreement. Abigail shielded them from the sunlight streaming through the curtains and asked her little guy with a smile, "Where is Aunt Claudia?"
Understanding her, Teddy pointed outside.
Abigail immediately knew that he and Threo had secretly entered her room. She poked his cheek lightly, "You little clever one."
"Yeah, little lazy one." As soon as Abigail spoke, Aunt Claudia entered, laughing and teasing her.
Abigail felt slightly embarrassed and got up with Teddy, noticing it was already ten.
Aunt Claudia probably guessed that Abigail did not sleep well last night and did not continue the topic. Instead, she urged Abigail, "Get up and eat something. The early education teacher we previously hired called. Do you want them to come here, or should we return to the manor?"
"Have them come here." Remembering the man’s scolding from the night before and her unanswered Facebook Circle post, Abigail responded without hesitation.
Aunt Claudia promptly went to make the arrangements.
Abigail got up, washed up quickly, and went downstairs holding Teddy’s hand. Threo followed closely behind. Thinking of Pinky, who she had brought back to the manor, she sighed, probably having brought it back for nothing. Poor Pinky had to stay in its cage.
In the afternoon, Sophia Patel gave Teddy early education at Rose Valley. Abigail accompanied them. Unlike the other day, Sophia seemed in a very good mood today and adjusted all the issues Abigail had previously mentioned. The whole afternoon’s lessons were conducted with great dedication.
When leaving, Sophia even added Abigail on Facebook for easier future contact.
For the next three days, Abigail stayed at Rose Valley. During this time, she called Elder Piers once. She felt that Elder Piers seemed much colder toward her, probably too preoccupied with Brandon’s upcoming trial to notice anything else. Abigail understood that her actions had been somewhat immature, but since Brandon scolded her that day, he had not initiated any messages. fгeewebnovёl.com
Even if Abigail wanted to forgive him, there was no opportunity.
The matter continued to drag on until Brandon’s trial was imminent.
