Rebirth: Revenge of the abandoned heirress-Chapter 73: Slap
Chapter 73 - Slap
Jazmine Harrison looked away, abashed at what she had just said. She had been so lost in the moment that she didn't realize what had slipped from her tongue. She coughed and quickly added, "I'm still married. Don't get your hopes up."
Sebastian Crowne didn't say anything, but Jazmine could feel his happiness lingering in the air. She turned back to stare into the city, unsure of what to say next. Mentally, she slapped herself and resolved not to let herself slip like that again.
"The city looks even better from the terrace of the Sunset Square Apartments," she muttered.
"It might. But we'll have no way to know. The place is off-limits to the public. It's private property — part of the Crowne family estate."
"If you wish, I can take you there."
"You can?" Jazmine stared at him in surprise. In response, he smiled.
Suddenly an idea struck Jazmine. "Do you have any acquaintance with President Crowne?" The more she thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. "Are you some distant relative of the prestigious Crowne family?"
It made sense — how else could he afford a penthouse at the Sunset Square Apartments? It also explained why he could easily secure a room adjacent to hers at such short notice. Perhaps he had come here to accompany President Crowne to the fashion show.
The surname 'Crowne' was common enough that Jazmine hadn't considered this before. But she also knew that the influential Crowne family of Hong Kong didn't have any known relatives. Their family tree was limited to the parents, grandparents, and the Crowne brothers. Maybe he's an illegitimate child they kept hidden from the world.
Jazmine chose not to ask directly, fearing she might hurt his feelings.
"Maybe. Maybe not," Sebastian replied with a teasing smile.
"You like to keep yourself a mystery, don't you?" Jazmine felt like the silent, cold man was slowly opening up in front of her.
"Maybe I want you to find out for yourself who I am."
"I will."
When Jazmine returned to the hall, the fashion show was already over. The most successful role was played by Amelia. After their scheme had failed, for some reason, Caroline Anderson lost her confidence — and in modeling, confidence was everything.
"Serves her right," Jazmine muttered, congratulating Amelia.
Frank was busy being swarmed by admirers. Meanwhile, President Crowne was nowhere to be found. It seemed like Jazmine had missed her opportunity. However, she had asked Emily Carrol to arrange another official meeting with President Crowne. So she knew she'd get a chance soon enough.
As Jazmine walked back to her room, she spotted Rosaline standing in her way. Her presence here only meant more trouble.
"What do you want?" Jazmine asked coldly.
"Don't think you've won today," Rosaline's voice was dark.
Jazmine frowned and looked around. Now what is my little sister up to? "I've won in many places. Do tell me — what specific situation are you referring to?"
Earlier that day, Jazmine had noticed Rosaline hovering around Caroline Anderson. But Jazmine never considered Rosaline a real threat, so she hadn't bothered to worry about her schemes.
Rosaline flared up but kept her calm. She was here to provoke Jazmine, not to lose her own composure.
"Haha. Everyone knows. Your husband stays in a separate room, and you stay in this one. What face are you left with to keep talking to me?"
"Does that have anything to do with you?" Jazmine's tone was sharp.

Realizing David Anderson's name wasn't enough to shake her, Rosaline changed tactics.
"You know what? I still remember your mother. She was just like you — shameless and cowardly. They said she had an affair even after her..."
"If you don't want to regret it for the rest of your life," Jazmine's voice turned dead cold, "you will shut up."
Rosaline felt a chill crawl down her spine, but she gritted her teeth to suppress her fear.
"Haha. I still remember the day we found her burnt to death. You have no idea how happy we were. Finally, we got rid of that obnoxious woman. Karma gets back at everyone. She was a slut, and God punished her for..."
"Shut up!"
"Remember how you were pathetically crying over her dead body, begging for her to return? So disgusting. Ever since that day, you've disgusted me to..."
Before she could finish, Jazmine raised her hand and slapped her hard across the face.
