"Is this a joke?" Jazmine Harrison was lost. He looked completely serious; he didn't look like he was joking.

Sebastian Crowne didn't reply. His amused eyes looked at her. He pointed at her leg. "We need to get that fixed first." He leaned forward. With a swift, light movement, he picked her up.

Jazmine Harrison's face filled with utter disbelief. "What are you doing?" With the close proximity, her face was inches away from his. Moreover, his shirt was still not buttoned. She could feel his body heat through the thin cloth of his shirt. She could even feel his steady heartbeats. She felt like she was going to have a heart attack.

"Put me down!"

Sebastian Crowne looked at her in confusion; he had already started walking for the elevator. "Can you walk on your own?"

"Yes!"

Sebastian Crowne slowly put her back onto her feet. His arm stayed around her waist in case she stumbled. Once free, Jazmine quickly pushed him away and pressed herself against the corner of the elevator.

Sebastian Crowne's eyes filled with mirth. She was acting like a feisty, scared cat. He felt a sudden urge to pat her. But he had to restrain himself. This cat might claw at him or bare its teeth at him.

"Where are you taking me?" Jazmine asked when he pushed the button for the highest floor of the building.

"To my apartment." He stayed silent for a moment before explaining. "I've invited some friends. Your wound might get an infection if not tended properly."

"There is no need, really. Just get me my phone. I'll leave," Jazmine waved her hands in protest. She didn't want to be an inconvenience.

"You want to leave without giving me my reward?"

Jazmine stared at him. After much contemplation and a long silence, she asked.

"What exactly do you want?" Jazmine assumed he must be joking the first time.

"You."

Jazmine: "..."

"Can we settle for something else?"

"No."

Jazmine didn't know what to do with this man. "Let's try again, Dr. Crowne. I've plenty of properties in Beijing. If you want anything else, I can easily grant it to you. How about this? I ask my secretary to name a subsidiary for you? There's a Subsidiary I have in Hong Kong. It's doing very well in the market. You wouldn't even need to look after it."

"I want nothing else."

Jazmine felt completely defeated. She had presented him with such a nice offer. What else could she tempt him with? "I'm sorry, Dr. Crowne, I can't give myself to you."

"Then I'll steal you."

This man was impossible. With a deep breath, she looked away. She didn't want to continue this ridiculous conversation. The elevator door opened into a huge gallery. Jazmine was blinded momentarily by the magnificent scene. Pure white walls, pure white floor; large glass panes covered the entire length of the walls. The ceiling was very high. Curved stairs led to the upper floor. Beautiful metallic flair with intricate design decorated the stairs and border of the upper floor.

"Does this place belong to you?"

"Yes."

Jazmine realized why he was not tempted by her offer. She also realized why he was not scared when she threatened to get him fired the other day. This man belonged to some wealthy family. He owned such a magnificent penthouse. The penthouse was worth millions at least. Her subsidiary must be something insignificant in his eyes.

"Doctors are waiting. Follow me."

When Jazmine tried to move, her leg opposed her. She winced in pain and placed a hand over the wall for support.

"You cannot walk." Sebastian Crowne gently picked her up. The situation was too much for her—this man was treating her like a doll that he could pick up anytime without her consent.

She protested, but Sebastian Crowne turned a blind eye to her protests. He didn't put her down until he carried her to the bedroom on the second floor. Jazmine wanted to tell him an earful but suddenly stopped. In the bedroom, there were at least five senior doctors. She glanced around nervously.

Ten minutes later.

Her leg was bandaged and properly taken care of. She kept her silence the whole time. The doctors worked efficiently like professionals. She didn't want to create a drama in front of them. All the time, her mind was racing with different theories.

The click of the door brought her out of her thoughts. Jazmine looked up and realized that there were only two of them in the room.

"Who exactly are you?" she suddenly asked.
