Chapter 47 - How dare he

"Did I die?" she asked in a daze. But shouldn't she go to hell instead of heaven?

And aren't devils supposed to be ugly? How come this devil was so handsome? Could it be an angel? No... look at his aura. Only a devil could possess such a scary presence.

The devil in front of her didn't say anything. Instead, he did a very unexpected thing—he helped her sit up.

What a nice devil.

"Who are you?" Jazmine held her head as the memories of the last day rushed back.

The handsome devil was silent for a moment. Suddenly, his expression darkened.

Jazmine shivered. Why is the temperature dropping so suddenly? She glanced at the devil. He looked like an ultracold ice block radiating all that frost.

"Sebastian Crowne." His voice was gruff.

For a moment, Jazmine frowned. The name sounded familiar. Did she know him?

She glanced around. She was in a hospital room. The handsome devil was wearing a white coat.

"You must be... the doctor?"

No answer.

The man didn't say anything. His expression resembled that of a child whose favourite candy had just been stolen.

Weird.

Jazmine took his silence as a yes.

"Doctor Crowne? Why are you holding my hand?" She tried to retract it, but he wouldn't let go.

"Pulse."

The moody doctor didn't like to use many words.

Jazmine looked around, doing her best to ignore the warmth of his hand and the tingling sensation spreading over her sensitive skin. How long does it take to check someone's pulse?

Her heart was beating fast. Must be because of the IV drip. She refused to admit that the ridiculously attractive doctor sitting so close was the reason her heart was somersaulting.

A mature woman like her would never admit to having such reactions.

Could he not sit a little farther away and let her breathe?

"Did anyone come with me?"

Silence. A very long silence. Jazmine sighed and looked away. He's not going to answer, is he?

"Restroom. Would you like to send someone for him?"

"No, it's okay."

Jazmine's eyes softened. Frank must have waited a long time for her to wake up. She felt concerned for him and momentarily forgot about the scary presence beside her. Suddenly, she felt his grip on her wrist tighten slightly.

"What is your relationship with Mr. Frank?"

"Huh?"

"Your relationship?" The temperature fell a few more degrees.

"Friends..."

"Nothing more?"

"Yes...?"

Silence. His grip loosened. Jazmine was baffled.

"Someone from the family needed to sign the forms." Sebastian gave a random excuse.

"And you thought he was my family...?"

Silence. Yes.

Jazmine stared at him before puffing. This doctor is really clueless. He didn't even know who she was. She was the great president of the Tang Enterprises! Everyone also knew who Frank was. So Doctor Crowne should have known that Frank wasn't her family.

"Doctor Crowne, how long is it going to take you to check my pulse? I don't think it takes this long."

Dr. Crowne finally let go of her wrist. Only after his firm grip left did she realize how dominating his hold had been.

Instead of leaving, the doctor walked to the side, picked up a tray from the table, and placed it in her lap. Then, to her even greater surprise, he took a spoonful of porridge and guided it to her mouth.

Feeling weird, Jazmine tilted her head slightly.

"Is your hospital lacking nurses?"

"You need nutrition."

"But that sort of work is left for nurses. You're a doctor."

And a very handsome one.

"Leave it. I can eat myself."

He glanced at her right hand, which was connected to the IV drip.

"I can eat with my—"

Before she could finish, Sebastian sighed and shoved the spoon into her mouth.

Jazmine stared at him.

Was he crazy?

Before she could even object, he shoved another spoonful in her mouth. She stared at him with wide, startled eyes filled with disbelief. Sebastian found her expression quite cute. His eyes softened considerably, and his cold face looked relatively less scary.

She looked like an adorable kitten.

A severe urge to pat her head rose in his heart, but he pushed it back, thinking it would be difficult to explain if he did that. Instead, he guided another spoonful toward her mouth, completely ignoring her objections.

Jazmine didn't know what the hell was wrong with this crazy doctor.

She admitted that he was unreasonably attractive, but that didn't give him an excuse to act on his own will.

She glared at him, trying to make her face look as intimidating as possible.

But in Sebastian's eyes, she looked more and more appealing. Surprisingly, his Jazmine looked even more alluring when angry. Hmm... Should I purposely annoy her in the future?

If Jazmine knew what was going on in this man's head, she would have wanted to kill herself. She had seriously worked hard to maintain a scary face, and yet it was having the opposite effect.

"Don't cross the line." Jazmine snatched the bowl from his hands. "You might not know who I am, but I can easily have you lose your job."

His Jazmine knew how to threaten.

Since the last time, she had really grown fierce. But he liked the change.

It made him want to tame her.

Jazmine detected amusement in his eyes instead of fear.

She wasn't satisfied with his response.

What would it take to scare him? She would pay anything just to see a scared look on his face.

"You doubt my words?"

Silence. Only the amusement in his eyes increased. His face remained unreadable.

Jazmine gave up. She grumpily ate the tasteless porridge.

With some frustration, she glanced at him.

But as she took the second spoonful, it slipped from her hand.

She picked it up and slowly guided it to her mouth.

The spoon trembled and fell into the bowl again.

After countless tries, Jazmine wanted to give up.

But the crazy doctor was still staring at her like some motionless statue.

So, feeling helpless, she picked up the spoon.

Or so she tried to...

Swoosh!

The spoon flew across the room, spilling porridge everywhere.

Her clothes were dirtied, her bedsheets were messed up. Even her left cheek was smeared with it.

When Sebastian saw his Jazmine's beautiful face smeared with porridge, he couldn't resist the urge.

His lips curled up into a smile.
