Re: Strongest Necromancer with the Extraction Talent-Chapter 38: The Mysterious Old Man
Chapter 38: The Mysterious Old Man
Elias struggled a little bit and deepened his frown.
However, before he could respond with a struggle, Kai continued.
"Are you scared? Or do you think the outcome will be the same, since the Fire Lion already killed you once?" Kai asked with a calm smile.
Kai then continued talking with Elias, but through their connection instead of speaking, as he wanted to let him know some things that others shouldn’t.
"If you’re not scared, I can guarantee you that we would be able to kill the fire lion. Why? Because there’s me who will help you in doing so."
"I know you might look down on me because I haven’t reached 1st-Echelon yet, but listen: my ability and potential are far beyond what you can imagine. How else could I resurrect you, restore your body, and even leave some freedom in your consciousness?"
"It’s because I could even resurrect you completely when I’m strong enough to match my skill. Did you even know that my skills are even higher than the 9th Echelon Ranks?"
Kai stopped for a while and looked at Elias, who seemed to doubt his words.
"What? You don’t believe me? Take a look at my stats then." Kai sneered and showed his stats completely only to Elias.
"You see those (???) Rank? That’s because my skills far surpass 9th-Echelon."
"Look at my class, the Immortality Lord is actually the title I had in my previous life. I have it because I control the power of life and death to the highest level. However, I didn’t know what happened to my previous life that I reincarnated into the current me. Because I don’t even have too many memories from my previous life when I became the Immortality Lord."
"That’s why I’m confident that in the future, I’d be able to resurrect you completely when I’m strong enough."
Kai explained his speculation that he wasn’t even sure about it, as his goal was to persuade Elias to be his undead subordinate.
At the side, the tiger cub listened with interest and scratched his head in confusion as he didn’t even know if he should believe it and wasn’t also sure if what Kai said was the truth or not, but there must be something more to it.
"Truth be told, after I reincarnated to the current me, I’ve reincarnated once, and I almost died from an accident, but fortunately I awakened a little bit of my previous life’s strength."
"I even met with an old man who should know about my previous life, and he even helped me to turn back time in exchange for me owing him a favor."
...
When Kai mentioned the old man, in another scene where there were two old men chatting happily in an ordinary restaurant inside a bustling city, one of the old men frowned and tilted his head slightly to the right as his gaze deepened, seemingly penetrating everything before coming to a halt when he saw Kai.
His figure became blurred, making the other old man in front of him open his eyes in surprise, as he had never expected that the old man seemed to want to do something in secret.
However, the other old man didn’t care, as he didn’t want to probe into the details since it would only offend the other party.
Naturally, this sight could only be seen by the two old men, as everyone inside the restaurant couldn’t notice this phenomenon even though they exuded an aura that would definitely crush Kai if he were to even be near these people.
As his figure became blurred, the old man said softly. "Young man, there are some things that you should never say."
Kai shivered as he felt the extreme danger when he heard the somewhat familiar sound. Looking at the sky, he could see the old man was somewhat angry toward him.
"Hehe, I’m sorry, senior. I didn’t mean to disturb you. I swear I wouldn’t do it again." Kai scratched his head awkwardly before bowing deeply, as he had never expected that the old man could sense when he mentioned him.
Sigh!
"It’s fine, but this is your first and last warning." The old man sighed softly and snapped his finger.
He then tilted his head, looking at the tiger cub lying down above the town wall lazily.
When the old man showed himself, the tiger cub suddenly became scared instinctively and covered his body with both hands, hoping that the old man wouldn’t notice him as he prayed in his heart.
However, when the old man looked at him, the tiger cub’s body shivered uncontrollably before he raised both of his hands cutely and said, "I heard nothing because cats don’t understand human language."
The old man didn’t say anything as he shook his head helplessly, then looked at Kai once again and reminded him for the last time as his figure disappeared softly.
"Become stronger quickly because time waits for no one."
When Kai saw that the old man left, Kai suddenly lost himself in his thoughts as his mind was filled with questions.
However, he quickly came back to his senses when he heard Elias’ response.
"A-Are you s-sure?" Elias asked through their connection with a struggle.
"Of course! The reason I told you all of this is because you will either go back to eternal life or become my undead subordinate completely. That’s why I could tell you some things but not the others." Kai nodded with a smile.
After telling Elias in private, Kai continued the conversation by speaking so that the others could hear it too, as he wanted to explain his plan to the others as well.
"With me here, we should be able to kill the fire lion, as I have a few extremely strong skills. The first one is my healing skill. Because my healing skill is extremely strong, I should be able to heal you as long as you’re not dead in one move."
