Chapter 82: Truth Vs Lies

Inside a dimly lit room, Daisy’s eyelids trembled as she slowly regained consciousness.

"Where... am I? Hello?" she muttered, trying to move.

But her body refused to cooperate. Because she was tied to a chair with thick ropes, so tight that her hands had gone numb from lack of blood flow.

"Boss, this one’s awake too. Should I bring her out?" a male voice called from outside the room.

Creak!

The door slowly opened, revealing a group of thugs. They were those thugs she had seen alongside that monster.

As their distorted shadows stretched across the floor, looming over her, she was terrified.

"Am I going get violated?"

"W-What do you want from me?!" Daisy demanded, her voice trembling. "My friend’s father is a powerful man! If you touch me, he won’t spare any of you!"

The thugs only grinned wider.

"Haha... Little lady, you don’t know who you’re dealing with," one of them chuckled. "Ever heard of gods? Our boss is one of them."

They burst into laughter.

"God?" Daisy squealed, squirming in her restraints as the chair was dragged across the floor. "No! You’re lying! There are no gods!"

"Heh... What do you know?" another thug sneered. "He’s the God of Men."

They laughed again, their words full of blind worship, leaving Daisy even more confused and afraid.

Then, finally, she saw the monster.

He stood in another white room, leaning casually against a table, arms crossed as he stared at her in silence. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

The moment her eyes met his, something strange happened. His face suddenly shifted in her mind, overlapping with a hateful figure from her past.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Igaris Vance.

The pathetic loser. Her former fiancé.

She blinked rapidly, shaking her head. "No... it couldn’t be him. That’s impossible."

"How could that weak, crippled guy from her past become someone like this? This is impossible!"

The monster was terrifyingly powerful, like a figure from legend. Igaris had never shown even a fraction of this strength.

"It’s not him. It can’t be."

Still, the resemblance unsettled her.

And yet... if someone asked her to choose between Igaris and this mysterious summoner, she wouldn’t hesitate for even a second.

She would choose this Monster.

He was strong. Dangerous. Commanding.

He was a true man; not someone who relied on his fallen legacy to feel powerful.

Despite the enmity between them, Daisy felt something unexpected stir within her heart: awe. And maybe... a little admiration.

She was secretly impressed by the Monster.

Inside the white room, he wasn’t alone. Aluna was there too.

The thugs left at his signal, leaving the two beautiful young women with him.

They had already begun to imagine how their Boss was going to have his way with both girls at once.

There was even a bed inside the polished room.

Naturally, anyone would assume the monster had lewd intentions.

Daisy should have been terrified, but she wasn’t. Some forbidden feeling stirred inside her, making her heart beat faster.

But Igaris had no such intention. Not because he was impotent, but because there was no spiritual connection between them. One that existed only toward Evernight, for now.

As such, he didn’t feel even a fraction of desire for the two captives.

Instead, what lingered in him was a strange hatred he couldn’t fully understand.

He glanced at the two girls hatred, though his face showed only calmness as he asked,

"Tell me your names. Full names. And why exactly do you need the Summoners’ Arts?"

Aluna and Daisy exchanged a quick look. Their gazes silently communicated everything.

"My name is Amara Valtor," Aluna said, frowing her brows.

"My name is Hazel Fishbone," Daisy added.

Both of them used their predecessor’s names from Ashvale; something they had agreed upon beforehand to remain cautious.

Igaris mentally noted their answers, but something felt off as he observed their expressions. He noticed a subtle wink between them.

Somehow, he felt they’re lying.

"Go on," he said calmly.

Aluna spoke up. She lied, claiming they were collecting the Summoners’ Arts to store them in their family’s treasure vault, purely for enrichment. Nothing more.

Igaris touched his chin thoughtfully. That strange feeling returned. Her expression and explanation didn’t align. Maybe his eyes allowed him to see through lies.

If that was the case, he wouldn’t let them go so easily.

The thought of killing them crossed his mind again, like an instinct he was ready to act on.

He summoned a silver dagger out of thin air and pointed it at the duo.

"You two have been lying from the very beginning. And lying to me... means death" his voice turned ice-cold.

"..."

Both of their eyes narrowed as they witnessed the godlike feat so casually. They were in awe, but terror gripped them at the same time.

No one wanted to die.

And this monster wasn’t joking. He meant every word. He had no soft spot for women.

"Wait... It’s true we lied," Daisy stammered, panic rising in her voice. "But isn’t killing a bit too much for something so simple?"

Igaris snorted in response. "I don’t tolerate liars. Lying is the most vicious trait of a two-faced snake. So if you don’t want to die, answer everything I ask truthfully. You should know by now... my special eyes can see through lies and truth."

As he said that, his eyes glowed with a deep, ethereal blue, sending a chill down their spines.

The girls couldn’t help but question the absurdity of it all. How could a single summoner possess so many abilities? Superhuman strength, mastery of fire and earth, and now these truth-seeing eyes?

Were all summoners this powerful and versatile?

It felt unfair.

Why hadn’t they been transmigrated as summoners? If they had, maybe they wouldn’t be facing this monster. Maybe things could’ve turned out differently.

But even if they had been, surviving that cruel and unforgiving land was no guarantee.

Still, there was no use complaining to the World Diving System now.

They gulped silently, preparing to face a deadly challenge where a single lie could mean death.

"Your true names?" Igaris asked coldly.

"...Aluna Woodinson."

"...Daisy Brown."
