Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System-Chapter 501: Going Back To Caprath City
"We managed to get everything from Tier 3 to Tier 6 herbs. However, Tier 7 is limited, so we couldn't get the quantity you are after.
Also, not everything on the list was in stock," the lady said to Kent, handing him a storage ring.
"However, you can visit Lanky City in the Eldorath Kingdom. There is an herb store famous for selling high-tier herbs," she recommended, and Kent could only nod.
Not that he was disappointed. This was rather perfect for him, as he would have more places to visit with Vexthra.
"Here is the payment," Kent said, handing over the pouch containing the spirit stones, which had already reached hundreds of millions.
"It was Nice doing business with you. We look forward to seeing you again." The lady said, and Kent and Vexthra nodded and left the room.
The moment they appeared back inside the large space in the store, several eyes locked on them, bringing a smirk to Kent's face.
'Looks like we have some hungry tigers on our trail. How should we handle them?' Vexthra asked through their connection.
'In case you're unaware, you're basically a mortal here, so there's not going to be a "we"—there's only "I," my little demon.' Kent chuckled, and Vexthra tightened her grip on his arm, causing the brat to smile through the pain.
'Let's just go get dinner. That will help me determine how to deal with them' Kent said, leading Vexthra out of the herb store.
The moment they stepped outside, both Kent and Vexthra felt several powerful presences begin to follow them.
Kent ignored them, let Vexthra into their carriage, and left the store. They were still being followed since the news of Vexthra taking out a pseudo-mystical technique book had already spread everywhere.
"These people just don't learn," Kent sighed. "Initially, I thought perhaps they only tried to steal my stuff, knowing I was weak compared to them. But even after killing quite a few, they just switch targets.
"I wonder when they'll learn their lesson and stop coveting things that don't belong to them."
Vexthra shook her head, hearing Kent's words.
"Greed is something everybody has. It isn't just in this medium world—even the high, immortal, and god worlds are the same. Their greed usually compels them to go after things that don't belong to them.
"The only way to stop them is by showing them you can keep the treasure you own. They won't stop until they learn it the hard way. Naturally, that involves killing."
She chuckled and then continued, "Back when I first ascended to the stage of an immortal, I had a situation where a True Immortal—someone two realms above me—wanted to take something I owned.
Naturally, I was no match, so I peacefully gave it to him and avoided death. However, when I became capable enough, guess what happened?" she asked with an evil smile.
"You went and got beaten, huh?"
"You..." Vexthra smacked the back of Kent's head. Kent is such a brat who can make everything funny, regardless of how serious the situation is.
"What I'm saying is, the world of cultivation is full of people who covet others' treasures. If you're too weak to hold on to your treasure, you can only give it away peacefully and pray they don't kill you afterward.
And in case you manage to walk away, become strong and go for what is rightfully yours. You can't always have it easy, but don't fight unnecessary battles."
"Thanks for your wise words, my goddess. However, in this world, the person who can threaten me hasn't arrived yet. Meaning, I will protect you from all harm regardless of how dangerous it is."
"As for my treasures, may the god of greed have mercy on their souls."
"You do know he exists, right?" Vexthra said
"Even better. And don't worry, I will protect you while you are practically a god with no abilities," Kent laughed.
Vexthra smiled behind her veil. The fact that a mere mortal said he would protect her—while it sounded ridiculous—was oddly comforting. She indeed needed his protection.
Not that mortal weapons could kill her, even if she sat there and let them bombard her with attacks from all directions.
But that would be suspicious, so she was under Kent's protection to preserve her secret and avoid using her god powers, which would be very bad for her and everyone.
After half an hour, Kent and Vexthra stopped at an inn to grab a bite before leaving for their next destination, which, in this case, was Lanky City for the rest of the herbs.
The book had a private table.
"It's been a long time since I did something like this," Vexthra said, sitting behind their offered table.
"Enjoy it, for this is your life now. You eat mortal food and wear mortal clothes."
The experience was new to Vexthra, for it had indeed been a long time since she left the mortal realm. But this was all she wanted, so while she wasn't really benefiting from it, the experience was indeed something many gods would ask for.
Of course, most gods create avatars to live through their mortal days again. But she was privileged to have this experience in her true body.
That is not something even a god can brag about.
A few minutes later, they were served, and they started digging in. Kent relaxed and waited to see if Vexthra could use the chopsticks.
However, he was taken aback when she used them flawlessly.
"What do you take me for?" she smirked.
"While you've been lazing around here, I've learned a lot of things. And since I did it before, it just came back to me. Plus, I am a god, so don't expect me not to be able to do something as simple as using chopsticks."
Kent laughed, and for the next hour, they had their fair share of what they ordered. After dining, they relaxed for a few minutes before leaving.
However, when they were exiting the inn, Kent overheard a conversation that made his blood run cold.
"Have you heard? Somebody is killing all those who worked for that merchant family in Caprath City—the one that was wiped out overnight."
"Wait, so the strange killings... the victims were once workers from the Alderford Family?" someone asked.
"Yes. People are saying the brat that the four kingdoms are after is dating one of the daughters of the Alderford merchant family."
"Who would do something like this?"
Kent pulled Vexthra back into the private room they had just left when he heard what the people were talking about. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"Change of plans. We're going to Caprath City."
They vanished into the tower and almost instantly appeared somewhere closer to Caprath City.
