Pick Me Up!-Chapter 299: Ragnarok (4) (1)
On the deserted Mobius warship,
I sat on the railing beside the deck, drinking water.
The large-scale battle against Mobius was reaching its final stages. With Karacle’s death, the suppression order had been lifted, and the chain of command had collapsed. The fact that the restrictions on Party 1 had been removed, allowing them to rampage freely, was also a key factor.
‘It’d be nice if it ended here.’
I tossed the empty canteen over the railing.
The forces that had invaded here were enough to crush multiple rankers with ease, but assuming that this was the last attack would be overly optimistic.
‘If we don’t finish this quickly…’
They will keep attacking.
Since this was a war between forces that controlled an entire dimension and the entire universe, there was bound to be a disparity in sustainability. Even if Niflheimr managed to fend off the attack this time, it would eventually fall.
I had to destroy them before that happened.
Boom! Kuku-kung!
A massive Mobius airship crashed nearby, engulfed in flames.
Beyond the issue of Mobius itself, it was uncertain how much longer Server 1’s main computer would hold out. Even now, the unleashed fragments could be running rampant across the universe.
‘The key to victory… is speed.’
With Tel’s younger brother, Ikar, currently sealing the fragments, and Mobius’s defense systems not yet fully operational, this was the best timing for an attack.
But first, I had to clean up.
Smiling faintly, I flicked my cloak.
A golden circle formed in the air, revealing the interior of the waiting room.
The waiting area of Townia was in complete ruin.
The training grounds, workshops, lodgings, and all kinds of resting facilities—most of the basic infrastructure had been utterly destroyed. The gathering and crafting classes, who lacked combat capabilities, had been massacred. If Anytng had been here, they might have at least issued an evacuation order, but their account had already been suspended. The bodies scattered across the plaza had likely died without even understanding what was happening.
“What should we do with the corpses?”
“There’s no way to handle them properly. Gather them and burn them.”
“…Understood.”
Heroes in Niflheimr uniforms were working to clear the site.
“Urgh! Cough! Ugh!”
A young boy collapsed onto the ground, vomiting.
Understandable, considering the corpses here were mangled beyond recognition.
Glancing at him briefly, I climbed the stairs.
I passed by the Niflheimr and Townia heroes who were eyeing me warily, heading to the highest floor of the waiting area.
There—
“You’re here, Oppa.”
Jenna stood up from the wreckage of a collapsed mansion.
Her leather armor was stained with blood and dust.
“I figured you’d come if I waited here.”
“Injuries?”
“I’m fine. They did have some strange weapons, but thanks to training with Vel Oppa, I managed.”
Jenna dusted off her pants and walked toward me.
Though fatigue was evident on her face, she had no visible injuries.
“But Oppa, I heard something strange from the Niflheimr mage.”
“The mage… Yurnet?”
“Hmm, I think she introduced herself as that. She explained everything—where you came from, who you really are, what Townia is, what the Fragments are. She was really smart. She said… we’re doomed, that we have no choice but to be destroyed.”
So she finally told them.
At this point, after clearing the 90th floor, that information was bound to come out sooner or later.
“Then… we…”
“Doomed, you say?”
“But what we saw on the 90th floor was…”
“What makes you think that?”
“She said everything we’ve done was meaningless. That it was all for nothing. That the best thing I could do for you… was to send you back where you came from…”
“Meaningless? It all had meaning. At the very least, we’re still alive, aren’t we?”
Jenna remained silent, staring at me intently.
She always made that face when she was deep in thought.
After pursing her lips, she spoke.
“You’re still planning to fight, aren’t you?”
Sharp as ever.
Well, I never thought I could fool her anyway.
“Take me with you.”
“You’re not going home?”
“There’s nowhere to go back to.”
“You’re still too weak. You wouldn’t even be a match for them.”
“I might not be a match, but I could at least be a finger’s worth of help!”
Jenna stretched out her arm, flexing her nonexistent muscles.
“Ahem! If we’re going to die anyway, we might as well try! Who knows? A miracle might happen! Maybe my hidden super potential will awaken and—pow pow pow—defeat the enemies….”
Thud.
I caught Jenna as she collapsed and gently laid her on the ground.
By pressing her pressure points, she would sleep like a corpse for at least a day.
“She’s going to resent you for this, Senpai.”
“You think I care?”
I smirked as I turned my head.
Velkist was emerging from behind a building.
“You’ve changed, Senpai. I can tell at a glance.”
“Jenna was right. But it was my super potential that has awakened. You guys don’t stand a chance against me.”
“No matter the outcome, Senpai… you are heading for hell.”
“I don’t quite get what you mean.”
“How many years… will it take?”
I narrowed my eyes.
Velkist leaned against the wall, looking at me indifferently.
“How many years?”
“Even if you’ve awakened some unknown power, how many years will it take to wipe them all out?”

“I’ll have to find out.”
“And yet, you’re leaving as if running away.”
“You’ve grown a lot, Velkist.”
“All thanks to you, Senpai.”
Velkist smirked. Then suddenly, his eyes turned cold.
“An endless battle… against infinite enemies.”
“Ridiculous. There is always an end.”
“And do you think that ‘end’ is something we humans can comprehend? For humans, time like that is indistinguishable from eternity. But, I suppose… no matter what I say, I can’t change your mind.”
Velkist let out a deep sigh before speaking again.
“If you have any last requests, say them now.”
“When I begin the fight…”
“When you begin?”
“Townia will be restored. When that happens, help Pria.”
Once I finished clearing out Mobius and entered the boundary, I would be able to restore Townia.
“You’re still connected to Assinis. You should have enough power. Until I return, you’re the sub-master of Townia. Take care of everyone here in my place.”
“You’re really going alone?”
“Unless you want to come with me?”
I grinned.
“Would you fight an eternal battle against infinite enemies… for my sake alone?”
“……”
“Explain everything to Jenna. I’m off.”
I turned away.
There were still many heroes I hadn’t seen yet—Kishasha, the future leader of the beastmen, Katiio, who was likely busy repairing the airship, and Wiryung, who had protected the waiting room with Townia’s defensive forces.
But… I would have to postpone my goodbyes.
There was no need to take the lower levels.
I could open a dimensional gate whenever I wanted.
I stepped onto the path leading out of the garden.
“Oh, one last thing.”
“…What is it?”
“I will… definitely return.”
No response came.
Smiling, I stepped forward.
