Chapter 303: Final

"You’re coming from the same world as this thing..."

Eva gave a nod, everything was going smoothly.

"Yes, you get it right. The Players and the invaders came from a same reality... even closer actually."

"Hold on..." Hecate intervened in turn.

Their eyes turned to him, and to their surprise, the young boy was now an old man.

"What the hell is that?"

"I told you my appearance was versatile, punk! But you, the pink girls, if we have all lost our memory from that time, how come you still remember all of this?!"

Their eyes shifted back to Eva, the girl raised her hand to keep control of her audience.

"Good question. First, I reassure you again, I am a Player, like you all, and we come from the same background. The only thing that differentiate us is this invisible force ruling the universe, the Will of the World. I told you about the concept of our world, like an infinite space of stars, each stars being a reality. This concept exists under many terms, one of them being the Infinity. I don’t know many things, but in this Infinity, there is a set of rules existing to allow it to persist, one of these rules being, Dora must always fight. These rules are what we call the Will of the World, a force that force some actions to happen by predetermining their rules."

She clenched her fist against her chest.

"I shouldn’t have memories from the past, but an event disturbed the Infinity, an event taking roots in our home reality, and in reaction, the Will of the World manifested itself to create a future. These memories I have, I got them from the Will of the World, because... because I..."

She started to have difficulties formulating her words. Her eyes, closed, biting her lips. All were glued to her lips for the biggest revelation they became eager to hear.

Eva’s eyes fluttered open, revealing a pained expression on her face.

"Because I was his closest ally. I was there when it begun, and I couldn’t save him from this path. I am the responsible for all this situation."

Simultaneously, Midgard, Dora, Elizabeth, and Peters stared in astonishment, their eyes wide with disbelief. A single word, a specific term uttered by Eva echoed in their minds, and this straightforward realization sent a chill down their spines.

"Him?" Apophis raised an eyebrow.

A hand on her chest, Eva nodded.

"Yes, him, the one we describe today as the invader, the one you tried to take over. There was a time where he was someone like us, someone who would have been a Player in this world."

Dora raised a hand to his forehead, and within his thoughts, visions of the rift reemerged. He recalled the hands reaching out to grasp him, the gaze of a sentient creature.

Turning his attention to Eva, he noticed her typically cheerful expression now shrouded in grief. He then observed the Players, formidable titans in this world, mere marionettes in another world, executing the desires of a single individual.

His mind traveled, traveled very far in the past, on a day his friends found him again, but he was himself, without being himself.

"... The invader... is the Dora from your world."

All eyes turned to him, Eva lowered her hand, a smile finally drawing on her lips.

"Thank you, for figuring it out."

Outside, an event occurred, spreading around the heaven simultaneously. The sky changed color, taking a pink hue.

The Players looked at Dora one by one, the walls, the air, the time, all these elements froze and faded.

- The true Dora can only be reached by the mind.

A thousand thoughts swirled in Dora’s mind, with a decreasing pace, making them easier to understand.

He was blind to his surroundings, unaware of Eva inviting the Players for the final step of her plan.

"Think about what you are, but not just the current you. You are not Anesidora, nor the Sin of Greed. These might be your identities now, but you used to be someone else in the previous cycle, someone that the invader is looking for."

- The invader is looking for the bearer of every Sins.

A flash sparkled in Dora’s eyes.

"The Sins... belonged to only one person."

Outside, the wind picked up, the sky was adorned with a formation of clouds, swirling around a black hole.

The Sins, the reality of this world, a dagger, the ancient crime, the mission from the Will of the World, the girl with the deepest sorrow. These thoughts graduated in Dora, culminating by a realization exploding in his mind like a fireworks.

"Eva..."

The girl nodded, Dora watched the ground for a bit, then turned his gaze to the window displaying a change of the world.

"Eva, before you came here, before he killed you... You said that you were the one who committed the crime, the crime that brought this world into an apocalypse." freёweɓnovel.com

"Yes."

"That crime, was the reason the true Origin diverted from its path, and this means that the Origin became something else, something incomplete, and killing all the Sins Avatar will brought him closer to his former state."

Eva gave a slight nod, her eyes closing.

"Yes."

Dora stayed focused on the outside, then his eyes relaxed, he observed the room, each person, and finally Eva.

"The crime you committed, was a crime for the Will of the World, right? This is why this is single event caused all of this."

He observed the girl’s reaction for a bit, she kept her head down, but a smile if relief adorned her face.

"I see... I understand now... I understand everything. One thousand years ago, You killed me, before the invader could possess me."

In the hole in the cloudy sky, a cross formed.

The Players showed a little sign of surprised in reaction to a new change.

On their seats, Elizabeth and Peters noticed it and Elizabeth murmured to herself.

"... You face..."

The left side of Dora’s face was cracking. Eva, her two hands on the chest gave him a thankful smile in answer.

Hands down, he raised his gaze, then looked at the outside again.

"... If we keep going, what’s going to happen to this place?"

"This place is a consequence of the destruction of the true Origin. What we’re trying to do is bring you back to your True self. The logical result would be that this place cease to exist."

His eyes narrowed, Dora gritted his teeth.

"So, if we win, the deads will enter the cycle of the world, and you will all leave this world."

His muscles relaxed, his face till then tense let a slight sorrow get over.

The Players, the humans, all watched him with the understanding of his dilemma.

"Dora, don’t tell me you’re hesitating now." Midgard grabbed him by the wrist. "I know what you’ve been through, more than anyone, but look around you, every sacrifice, every pain we went through was to create this one chance. This is not the time to think about it, you have to see it till the end... Even if I can’t stay with you."

Dora frowned slightly, he gave her a gaze barely annoyed with a teasing smile.

"I wonder how you would react if the roles were reversed... But don’t worry, I don’t intend to stop now."

He looked once again at the sky, gazing back at him ominously.

"Even if he succeeded and everyone died, the invader would take him, and when it would happen it will be over for our reality, so this world too. Everyone is already dead, the only option is to reach the true Origin and maybe from there we could create a true paradise."

He clenched his fist, his eyes started to glow with a new color, a color different than anything he showed till now.

Apophis stood up, alongside Ymir, and Charybdis.

Fenrir and Fafnir faced his direction, their heads slightly bowed, and Eva, her face showing a growing surprise, stepped back.

"Eva, don’t hold a grudge against yourself, what you did wasn’t a crime, but a bet, and you’ve won. I will get over him and grant you your biggest wish, and I know it’s not just to be back with me and my sister in this world."

He gazed at her, Eva was petrified, not just by his words, but by something he was releasing, something powerful surrounding him.

"As for all of you, outer worlders, I’ve decided to erase your crimes, no matter what they were. I have all the authority on this part of the world, so I decide that you are all free from all bounds, and I shall create a better world in replacement for the one you’ve lost."

The Players, except Eva and Midgard, instinctively lowered their head, a hand on their chest.

Elizabeth and Peters remained silent in the back. What was happening now was beyond their understanding, but one thing was sure, from the moment his face cracked Dora had become someone else.

"Except for you." He grabbed Midgard’s hand in turn. "Since You want to see me destroy everything after making me wish to stay here, I decide that you’ll stick with me forever. From now on, in this reality, Dora must always fight, and Midgard will be at his sides, for an infinity of life."

Midgard’s eyes shone, in memory, Dora’s hand never seemed so strong, yet so gentle at the same time.

She couldn’t find her words, and had to bring her hands to her face to cover a scene she didn’t want the others to see.

"You’re really the worst, you know that?"

"I’m the bearer of every Sins, what did you expect?"

"Hmph, I swear, when everything will be over, you’ll take responsibility for that one thousand time."

She showed him her smile, cheeks and nose pink.

"Not just one thousand, an infinity of time."

They exchanged a teasing smile, Eva, looked at the palm of her hands where tears dropped.

She observed again Dora, her heart was lighter than ever, or not ever, she remembered than there was time she felt as good, maybe even better.

"You know what you are, it’s dangerous to be so kind to people, I almost died again."

"You think it’d be a tragedy? I know what I am, so I know I can reverse death anytime, but it’s not over here. Knowing is the first step, I need to become what I was in this world."

He faced everyone in the room, the Players keeping their head down.

"The truth of Dora in this world lay in the Sins, so I need you to uncover their truth, we have to hurry, before they reach a conclusion."

Outside on the little planet, there was a long corridor richly decorated

The walls were adorned by drawing of different kind, angels above, humans beneath.

Along the walls, the drawings showed different sceneries following the course of time.

A rich civilization, a cloud in the sky, monsters ravaging the towns, an eye in the sky reaching for an heart impaled by a dagger, a civilization rebuilding, a bear sleeping in a throne, a gladiator rising his axe, an elf chanting, a girl alone with a sword, a blue boy drawing on the ground, a little girl sitting on the ground, and finally a boy in a forest.

The corridor ended in an open door leading to a very large place, similar to a throne room with large windows colored like in churches, the walls painted with numerous figure of people, and finally a throne on which the boy was sitting.

Rhea stopped her walk, the two last Sins gazing at each other for the last time.
