Chapter 481 -395: Is the Birth Mother Indifferent like a Chrysanthemum? The Young Miss Turns the Tables with a Reckless Move 35

The bodyguards exchanged puzzled looks, unable to guess what their boss was really thinking.

However, they felt that this was not something they should be concerned about, so they shook their heads and stood aside waiting.

At this moment, Uncle Xie was so elated that he couldn’t contain himself.

He had always wanted to bring Yanshang down, but try as he might, he just couldn’t find any faults in Yanshang. Young and accomplished, Yanshang was careful to never make mistakes; he followed the rules diligently, displaying both strength and ambition. In the eyes of others, he was the perfect heir to the Xie Family. Most people recognized Yanshang as the heir, but Uncle Xie was never satisfied. He wanted to succeed him and topple Yanshang from his position.

Yanshang’s private life was impeccable; he never flirted or messed around, and due to his medical studies, he didn’t even touch cigarettes or alcohol. He barely had any friends of questionable character.

In the circles of socialites, Yanshang was regarded as the most eligible bachelor, yet for years he showed no interest in romance, much to the disappointment of many heiresses.

If he but asked, Uncle Xie was certain that the line of women pursuing him could stretch all the way to outer space.

After much deliberation, Uncle Xie finally found something that wasn’t quite a handle, yet could be exploited—Yanshang was still unmarried with no children, and was nearing the age of thirty without any prospects in sight.

If the old man found out now that Yanshang was seeing a sickly and thin minor, he would certainly step in to scold his good nephew. At that time, with a few embellishments from Uncle Xie, he could sow discord between the grandfather and grandson, and then take the opportunity to climb the ladder.

With this thought in mind, Uncle Xie immediately took out his mobile phone from his briefcase, hurriedly opened his contacts, and then dialed the old man’s number.

“Hello?” The voice came from the other end.

“Dad, it’s me. I wonder how you’ve been feeling lately?” Uncle Xie immediately inquired with concern, “I’ve been worried about you since we haven’t seen each other for a long time.”

“Everything’s fine, there’s no need to worry,” replied the old man, whose voice sounded as if he was moving away; the mobile phone seemed to have been placed on the table.

“Do you have time later? I’d like to have a drink with you and chat,” Uncle Xie asked the old master on the other end of the line in a respectful tone.

“Oh, come on over,” the old master seemed to be flipping through a newspaper, his response was indifferent.

Unable to hide his excitement, Uncle Xie quickly ordered the bodyguards to clean up and then, with his document bag, got into the car and drove off.

Tonight was the perfect opportunity for him to make his complaint.

After Yanshang and Su Zhiruan descended the stairs, the bodyguards dispersed.

The doormen at the gate bowed deeply to them, and the valet took the keys and went to bring Yanshang’s car around.

The two stood side by side at the entrance, talking.

Su Zhiruan looked at Yanshang and asked, “Mr. Xie, were you working just now? I really apologize for the delay.”

“It was just some minor matters, no worries. After all, it was the Xie family’s relatives who held you up first,” Yanshang said as he saw the car approaching. He opened the passenger door for Su Zhiruan, propped himself on the roof to let her in, and continued, “What are your plans next? I just so happen to be free, I can give you a ride.”

“I was planning to look at some apartments today. I can go on my own,” said Su Zhiruan, opening the notepad on her phone where she had meticulously organized her housing rental search and the apartments she was interested in.

Seeing her detailed preparations, Yanshang nodded and got into the car as well.

The car merged into traffic, and during a pause at a red light, it seemed as though something suddenly occurred to Yanshang.

“If you’re interested, I have an apartment next to Jinghua University. It’s been vacant for a while, and I don’t often go there. I was just thinking about finding a tenant, and you’re welcome to take a look at it,” Yanshang said, glancing at her with one hand on the steering wheel. “I think it would suit you well.”

“If that’s possible, it would be great, Dr. Xie,” Su Zhiruan said, her eyes brightening upon hearing his offer. Naturally, a property belonging to Yanshang would be dependable. Moreover, his constant busyness made it understandable for him to have a few unoccupied properties, and renting one of his apartments would mean more contact opportunities.

Plus, being close to the university would make things more convenient once she started attending college.

Yanshang nodded and then he drove, taking her with him to see the apartment.

Along the way, they chatted sporadically.

“When do you start university?”

“It should be at the end of August, and then military training begins in September,” Su Zhiruan estimated, figuring it was almost two months from now.
