“Hnnnnnng! Why?! Won’t! You give me back my POV!” growled the Dark Lord, pawing at the air in Wallen’s direction.

The Bug Alchemist and everyone who was somewhat sane watched with neutral expressions as the Dark Lord acted out, not questioning his strangeness whatsoever, Wallen especially. Unfortunately, not all of their army was sane.

“What did the bug drinking human take from you, oh, One True God of Absolute Killing?! Will it save Elder Ezda?! Give the POV back, bug-drinking human!” shouted a gnoll.

The other surviving gnolls joined the first heckler, drawing more attention to Wallen instead of the gigantic hell gator that was stomping all six of its feet and snapping its mighty jaws at wolf dragons in the backdrop. Just when Wallen thought he was going to crack from the weight of absurdism brought down on his head, Princess Foodie stepped in.

“Father!” She pouted at him. “There’s killing to be done and friends to save!”

“Ugh! Fine then! Keep the POV. Make sure to keep my good side in the frame while I do some badass wizardry.” The Dark Lord turned back to the battle, which seemed less important now after that strange display.

Wallen still had no idea what the ‘POV’ phenomenon still meant, and he hadn’t the time to question it when he felt something flow into his body, integrate with his profile, and add things that weren’t there before.

Then the new additions activated from an influence outside of himself, which summoned a conical hat that smelled of alchemical stains on Wallen’s head.

Suddenly, he felt a buff to his physical abilities, granting him more might, speed, and toughness that he was sorely lacking, and while those were incredible already, the new additions didn’t stop there. Everyone had something added to them that was ferocious and destructive, lighting their hands, their weapons, their own magic with dark green flames.

The only ones who didn’t get extra additions were the skeletons, but they seemed more focused on the monstrous hell gator trouncing the wolf dragons.

“Regardless of how this event ends, you’ll all probably get some combiners for traits and skills,” the Dark Lord explained. “I copied the Super Destruction Flame Force into your profiles as another option to consider for future improvements. You mage types will like it especially. You fighter types can use some more oomph to your hits anyway. Don’t worry too much about costs. You all get to benefit from my aura.”

Wallen was flabbergasted, hardly able to believe the shocking revelations were more than mere words. He checked his profile and saw the Level 0 skills that he’d heard so much about from the others.

Then his shock grew even greater when the gnolls lit up with the flames of dark green destruction. They even had wizard hats on their heads.

The same went for the trolls! Lord Hoodah the Hulk Meister sported a metallic and studded hat with a curving brim that accommodated his ram horns just like the other trolls.

“Father, these flames resonate with me,” Princess Foodie said, eyes wide as she marveled over the dark green flames roaring around her hands.

“Excellent, because I’m going to pull back hell gator in three, two, one. Let’s fucking go!” The Dark Lord gestured with a simple beckoning motion, and the immense creature stopped its tyrannical dominance upon the wolf dragons and turned away.

Every heavy step made the earth rumble, the snow shiver, the small creatures in the hell gator’s shadow tremble. Its big scaly belly dragged across the ground, its tail swaying slowly while easily sweeping hundreds of feet to the left and hundreds of feet to the right.

Then, before Wallen even felt he was prepared, the hell gator maneuvered to a position behind the remaining forces of their Ride-or-Die Army, providing a barrier to the retreating caravan leaving the fight behind them.

The remaining wolf dragons were drastically reduced and mangled compared to the mighty force that had formed up before the arrival of the Dark Lord. Wallen almost wanted to point out how the Dark Lord could finish the event himself.

Of course, the Bug Alchemist wouldn’t dare say that, but he didn’t even have time to mull it over much. The Dark Lord pulled something from his pocket that shouldn’t fit there and tossed it into Wallen’s arms.

In his grasp, the heavy, rectangular, highly energetic thing reminded Wallen of the cannons on the Central Library Artillery tower, but smaller and more sophisticated somehow.

Wallen recognized a unique trigger grip area, but instead of a mechanism to pull on like a crossbow would have, he noticed runic markings that replaced the need for a mechanical trigger. He recognized the open end where a circular bore stood out of the rectangular stock as the barrel. He quickly realized the back of the weapon was supposed to fit against his shoulder.

Free evil +3 made the guesswork fast and easy as Wallen sighted over the top of the weapon and saw a magical aim-assistant tool appear with a holographic flash.

He lowered the weapon and looked at the Dark Lord questioningly, but the unpredictable wizard of unparalleled power was already closing the distance on the bloodied, trampled, and half-dead army of the wolf dragons.

The wolf dragons looked on the verge of breaking after getting thwarted twice. However, the biggest and strongest of them saw the retreat of the hell gator as an opportunity to throw themselves forward for a third attempt.

One wolf dragon bolted ahead the fastest while thrusting blood from behind. With it moving so fast, Wallen couldn’t keep track, his arms fumbling the weapon in his grasp.

Then a strident cracking sound reverberated across the air when the blood-dashing wolf dragon ran face first into a column of pure darkness that appeared in its path.

The creature staggered to the side, becoming an easy target. With little prompting, the mages of the Ride-or-Die let loose a barrage that Wallen had seen plenty of times before, at least at first glance.

Then all of his expectations twisted and mutated further, all the spells warping into something different, something far more ghastly and horrific.

Wallen watched as flames became glassy and insidious. He watched lightning turn into something ultraviolet and haunting. He watched flying boulders become like spiritual comets that left weeping trails that reminded him of black Wil O’ Wisps.

An array of beams, bolts, crescents, and various attacks turned into powers that shouldn’t belong in the mortal plane, but were made possible because of one person – the Dark Lord. He was using that power he mentioned before: Void Domain.

All of their elemental conjurations became something else, and when they landed on the staggered wolf dragon, it seemed to vaporize wholly through the flesh, through the aura, through the spirit.

Wallen watched a creature that would’ve normally withstood ten seconds of bombardment under a hundred spells get wiped away like a wet stain under a thick towel in the blink of an eye.

“Gnolls, infuse the destruction flames with your normal attacks. The same goes for you, trolls. Anyone who’s melee and doesn’t normally get to play with magic, go on ahead. I have you covered,” the Dark Lord commanded.

More desperate wolf dragons came charging forth, only to get tripped or bashed off their feet by dark columns and towers springing, the mighty draconic beasts failing to dodge the Dark Lord’s simplest tricks. With the wolf dragons unable to use their high maneuverability to their advantage, Wallen watched his fellow comrades have their fun.

The mages kept launching void-warped elemental spells and skills, the destructive volleys focused on a few targets at a time. Just like before, with maybe a fraction more time added on top, the mages deleted the wolf dragons they focused on.

The upfront and melee-focused fighters ran forward, with Princess Foodie leading the charge, her giant cleaver in hand while lit by the super destructive flames. They turned destruction magic against the wolf dragons and found great success, hacking and burning the wolf dragons with ease, killing them as soon as they reached one that was downed by the unstoppable dark constructions of the Dark Lord.

Just when Wallen thought they could wipe out the remaining monsters, a wolf dragon used teleportation and appeared right above them, its destruction-wreathed teeth snapping down on the Dark Lord himself.

Wallen froze as the Dark Lord’s upper body ended up in the jaws of the ruthless wolf dragon, then when the wolf dragon pulled back, the Dark Lord … remained in place and completely whole. Or that was how it seemed to Wallen at first.

With a second glance, the Dark Lord wasn’t actually whole at all, and that wasn’t the fault of the wolf dragon.

The Dark Lord’s body was a pit of darkness that was darker than dark, and he vaguely had the outline of a human. It was a nightmarish thing to witness, yet the Dark Lord didn’t seem satisfied with just that showing.

He changed even further by becoming bigger, more monstrous, more predatory. He suddenly grew in height until he was taller than a troll. His muscles expanded with such girth that they’d seemed more fit for crushing the bones of small giants.

Scales replaced human flesh. His skull face elongated and grew great ferocious teeth that Wallen recognized from the creature that guarded the caravan.

The Dark Lord was transforming himself into some sort of gator man, but the only thing that remained was the golden lion tail, which had only grown longer to address the change in size. So instead of being holy turned into a monstrous reptilian, it was more accurate to call him some sort of chimera monster of a wizard.

Many glanced back at the monstrous Dark Lord and his new form except for the failed assassin of a wolf dragon, which attempted to rectify its failure with another ferocious bite, but that led to a run in with a reptilian fist.

A boisterous cracking sound filled the air as the wolf dragon’s jaw shattered into many pieces.

Before the creature could get away, the Dark Lord reached up with two mighty claws that grabbed the broken lower jaw and the upper jaw. With a pushing and pulling motion, the Dark Lord ripped the lower jaw of the wolf dragon off its face before shoving the creature into the awaiting void-warped and destructive hands of his army.

Wallen nearly forgot himself for quite some time as everyone cut loose and slayed dragons, actual dragons, creatures of legendary fable that were the bane of many adventurers for thousands of years.

And here on these blood-soiled and snowy grounds, they were slaughtering the dragons like mere livestock as humans, gnolls, trolls, skeletons, and a few entrepreneurial goblins worked in a violent concert together.

Behind them, a demonic titan watched their rear. To the front, a monstrously shifted Dark Lord stomped forth, bellowing with the bloodlust of the creature he most physically mirrored.

Then Princess Foodie crashed down with such force, she knocked Wallen off his feet. She strode out of the crater she formed and looked down upon him with a frown.

“Wallen, come join me. I want to see what the thing my father gave you can do,” Foodie demanded.

“Oh, uh, yes, princess. Apologies.” Wallen scrambled to the beckoning of his princess while inwardly scolding himself.

He needed to get as many hits as possible. He was still trying to catch up to the others who would no doubt advance even further with new levels, abilities, stats, and achievements after such a day like this.

He ignored his embarrassment as he ran to keep up with the physically impressive princess while ignoring the jeering looks of his fellow guilders. There were a few times that they’d called him the princess’s pet, but none of that mattered much right now.

More wolf dragons died left and right around him, corralled by the dark magic of the Dark Lord, who fought at the front while conjuring dark towers and even tentacles that kept his guilders safe. He also kept manipulating all of their magic with the void and helped keep their aura fueled.

How could one man do all of this at once? Regardless of him being the source of the Darkrun Apocalypse, it was still a wonder to see.

Turning his attention to the trinket in his hands, Wallen questioned if the strange contraption held much importance compared to everything else happening. Granted, he didn’t have many great offensive abilities. The Level 0 copy of the Super Destruction Flame Force in his profile was the most impressive raw damaging power he had.

Other than that, Wallen was mostly reliant on his alchemy concoctions or what he could physically manipulate. He was more tempted to learn how to use the destruction flames like the others, especially with how Princess Foodie seemed the most capable with the flame force.

Then Wallen triggered the strange weapon, felt an electric whine build for a second, and aimed through the holographic sights at a healthy wolf dragon he noticed in the middle of the chaos.

He blew off its head and dropped its body with a sudden thunk.
