Giyu's grip tightened on his sword, his eyes narrowing as he processed the crow's command. For a moment, silence fell, tense and unbroken, before he finally spoke.

"So, this was your plan all along," Giyu said, his voice laced with reluctant admiration. "Buying time for orders from headquarters."

I smiled, neither confirming nor denying. "There are larger forces at play, Giyu. Not everything is as black and white as it seems."

Tanjiro looked up at the crow, his face filled with equal parts confusion and relief. "Headquarters... Does this mean Nezuko is going to be safe?"

Giyu's face remained unreadable, but he finally lowered his sword, sheathing it with a precise and deliberate motion. "It means," he said evenly, "you're all under evaluation now. Your sister included. But if headquarters wants you brought in, that's what I'll do."

Beside me, Yuki's expression remained calm, though I could sense a tinge of curiosity. She was adapting quickly to her new existence, and I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of pride.

Shinobu's gaze hadn't softened. She watched us with her usual detached curiosity, her hand drifting almost lazily to the hilt of her own blade. "Well then, isn't this interesting? Headquarters usually doesn't send orders like this."

The crow cawed again, confirming the urgency of our summons. "Bring them to headquarters. Now."

I looked back at Tanjiro and Nezuko, giving them a small nod. "Seems we're heading to headquarters together."

Shinobu stepped forward, her gaze never wavering. "Fine. But just know," she said, her smile unsettlingly serene, "this doesn't mean we trust you. Demons—or whatever you may be—don't belong here."

Ignoring her comment, I simply shrugged. "Guess we'll find out soon enough."

With that, we began our journey toward the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters.

As we walked, I noticed Giyu casting occasional, skeptical glances at Yuki. The transformation from demon to vampire had left her aura unique, neither fully demon nor entirely human, and Giyu seemed to pick up on the oddity.

Yuki, however, held her head high. The newfound strength and freedom had given her calm confidence, and she walked with quiet dignity, her piercing red eyes scanning her surroundings with alert curiosity.

When we finally exited the dense trees, the crow soared ahead, circling over a secluded path that wound its way through a steep valley. The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over the landscape, giving the area an almost ethereal look.

I matched my pace to Shinobu's, catching her eye as she flashed that practiced smile—a look that, beneath the surface, radiated a contained anger.

"Seems like you are still angry." I said.

"Why would I be angry?" she continued, voice almost dripping with forced sweetness. "After all, it's not every day that a stranger appears with a supposed demon who's somehow... different."

I laughed softly. "What can I say? I'm not used to playing by the rules. And judging by that smile of yours, neither are you."

She raised an eyebrow, tilting her head with that sharp smile of hers. "Oh, I assure you, I follow all the rules, Alexander. Especially the ones about dealing with demons... or those who consort with them."

I let out a low chuckle, enjoying the verbal sparring. "Touché. But as you'll soon see, I'm not exactly a 'demon' myself. Let's just say my interests align with the well-being of humanity, if only for my... personal preferences."

Shinobu hummed thoughtfully, her eyes flickering to Yuki and then back to me. "You certainly keep interesting company, I'll give you that."

"Oh, you're one to talk. In fact..." I lowered my voice, leaning in just slightly. "I think you'd make an interesting addition to my entourage. Imagine all the trouble we could get into."

She scoffed keeping her composed smile. "I don't think the Demon Slayer Corps would allow that, Alexander."

"Please call me Alex." Then I continue. "Shame. I've never been much of a fan of limitations." I straightened, keeping my tone light but knowing the effect my words had. "But maybe one day, Shinobu. You never know where fate will lead us."

Our conversation ended as we neared the edge of the forest and caught sight of the entrance to the headquarters. A series of large, traditional buildings sprawled across a clearing. Several Demon Slayers were stationed at various points, and the presence of the Hashira could be felt even from a distance.

The gates opened with a low creak, and we were ushered in by several guards who looked warily at Nezuko and Yuki. Whispers followed us as we entered, rumours spreading through the ranks like wildfire.

Inside, the Hashira stood in a line, awaiting our arrival.

This is going to be fun.
