Overlord Tamer: All My Pet Monsters Have God Potential-Chapter 104: Competition Over, True Intentions?
Chapter 104: Competition Over, True Intentions?
Executive Jerelen was also briefly stunned and wryly smiled as he said to John, "John, that’s quite a Pet Monster you’ve got. Would you mind sharing its Monster name that you learned when you made a soul contract with it?"
"It’s Solrune Bloodcoil Drake," John said with a grin.
"Cool name." Executive Jerelen blinked and said with a nod as he smiled. "Also, you can change your Pet Monster to another since this one is out of soul energy."
"Actually, it’s fine. Rex can fight solidly even without soul energy," John replied with a modest smile as he rubbed his nose. "He still has enough stamina for another battle."
"But it’s armored skill just wore off..." Executive Jerelen raised his eyebrows before he laughed. "Very well. If you wish to continue, let’s start."
"Well, I am down to the last one now," Jibril said as she dryly chuckled. "Let’s finish this."
Jibril summoned a Two-Headed Darkslide Lizard [ Darkness / Crystal ].
"Go, Rex."
Rexion shot forward like a bullet.
The Lizard opened its mouth and released three black crystal orbs, streaking at incoming Rexion.
Rexion roared and didn’t even dodge. Instead, he let all three Orbs strike him. In fact, he dashed into them.
Everyone watching was confused and dumbfounded as Rexion was blasted up as the orbs released dark crystals with corrosive powers that injured Rexion all over his body.
However, Rexion’s Innate Talent — Royal Ichor Scales gave him 20% increased defense against physical and elemental attacks, while the longer he is in battle, the stronger he becomes, up to 50% stronger.
And the hidden thing about this talent was that the more he gets injured, the faster he gets a stat boost.
So even without Seardawn Blood Armor, Rexion’s stats once again became 150 - 150 - 150.
Rexion roared and jumped, about to slam into the Lizard.
Jibril quickly told it to dodge while commanding it to use another skill.
Rexion slammed down, but the Lizard was already two meters away, with its giant tail coated in dark crystals, gleaming, and about to strike Rexion.
But suddenly, Rexion’s body wobbled and shrank down as if he were water, narrowly dodging the strike before pumping up and stretching his head toward the Lizard, mouth open.
Snap!
Rexion’s unnaturally open, wide mouth devoured the lizard’s head and snapped.
A moment later, the lizard turned into light and vanished into Jibril.
For a second, there was silence because nobody was fucking expecting that!
And then, the shouts and cheers flooded everywhere.
Rakin’s fists were so clenched that he was bleeding. ’Fuck, fuck, fuck!’
’Why does he have such a powerful Pet Monster?!’
The envy in his eyes was flaring. He wanted that Monster!
Suddenly, he heard Jason’s voice in his head.
’I think we should make a bit of a change in the plan. Killing John would make his Pets disappear. He has not one, not two, but three exceptional Pets, especially this drake.’
’I want it! I want that Drake!’ Rakin said, his eyes crazed.
’We will need to plan more carefully and thoroughly for this because killing is easy, but not this. We have to capture him, and make him sever the soul contract.’
’Do whatever you want and plan however you want. Once you are done, tell me about it and I’ll take it to the family.’
...
"Now that all matches of phase 1 are over and we have ten winners, let us proceed to phase 2 without further ado and finalize the top five Silver-rank Tamers."
"Tamers, revive your Pet Monsters using Silver Essence Coins and recover your soul energy. Here you go," Executive Jerelen waved his hand as a stream of coins flew towards the ten Tamers.
Each one got 500 Silver Essence Coins.
The only Tamer whose Pets didn’t die was John, so he simply pocketed the Silver Essence Coins after using some to recover his and Rexion’s soul energy.
"It’s time to pick up balls again," Executive Jerelen said with a grin as he waved his hand, conjuring the large wooden bowl with an open head and balls inside.
"The top five best performers in phase 1 will pick the balls first."
And so, the bowl went to John, Rakin, Manchos, Auralia, and Jiya.
John’s number 5, so he was last again.
’Is this deliberate or what?’ John thought he looked at the ball and then at Executive Jerelen who floated up.
As if sensing his gaze, he looked at John and winked with a grin.
’Damn, so it’s really deliberate.’ John wryly smiled.
He went back on the 5th pillar and so did the others, except for the two Tamers who got 1-numbered balls.
When John’s turn came, his opponent just surrendered.
"There’s no point, so let’s just save time," he said. "I surrender."
"And there we have it, everyone! The top five Silver-rank Tamers, the strongest we have, will be representing Ouroboros Hall and this city, not only ten days later in a secret expedition but also the Nexus City Tournament next month."
"According to the performance of these five Tamers, here is the top five ranking."
Fireworks exploded in the sky high above, while twenty meters above the battleground, a golden sparkling board manifested, displaying the rankings.
1. John Wicked
2. Rakin Lockham
3. Vivian Teril
4. Manchos Boarfang
5. Auralia Cruzer
"As the winners of this competition, each one of you will receive 500 Gold Essence Coins as a reward, 10 Silver-rank resources, and 3 Gold-rank resources of your choice from the Logistic Hall."
"Naturally, all of this is nothing compared to being able to enter the special dimensional island ten days later," Executive Jerelen said with a smile. "Congratulations."
"Now, the competition is finally concluded as a whole. Everyone is free to visit the mountain and descend it while roaming, or you can take the stairs from the stadium directly to the bottom."
...
John was surrounded by people the moment he returned to the mountain, but he said he was tired and left with Jibril, while the other girls could only internally cry and curse Jibril.
John and Jibril arrived in the courtyard after leaving the Arena section.
Azelis was already there, sitting at the table while sipping tea.
Seeing John and Jibril, Azelis blinked and said, "John, given your performance in the competition, you will become my first apprentice officially tomorrow. No one has any objection now."
"Oh? That’s great. Did I surpass your expectations?" John asked with a grin.
She didn’t tell John about the investigation on him since she knew John wasn’t a spy, so there wouldn’t be any evidence indicating such in the first place.
"That you did," Azelis replied as she grinned. "You really improved a lot in five days."
"Hello, senior Azelis," Jibril said with a slight bow.
Azelis nodded and smiled. "You need to train your Pets better and react faster, Jibril."
"Yes," Jibril weakly smiled. "I do need to train harder, but please don’t tell me to be as strong as John. It’s impossible."
Azelis lightly laughed. "Everyone is different, but efforts won’t betray you and John works very hard. However, you have done enough today, so you can go and have some fun in the city."
"That’s the plan," John said with a grin.
"By now, the whole city knows you, so you might even get a discount at some places," Jibril said with a chuckle.
"Indeed. I am going to Nexus City, but I’ll return tomorrow at noon and you will become my official first apprentice. Until then, enjoy some rest and fun in the city."
John blinked, curious. "Why? Are we going somewhere else after I become your official apprentice?"
"Of course. You wanted to go to the Nexus City, right?" Azelis smiled.
John’s eyes lit up. "Awesome."
"We’ll depart tomorrow evening," Azelis said as she stood up and summoned her dragon. "I’ll be going now. See you later."
"Laters!" John waved his hand as Azelis flew away.
Turning to Jibril, he said with a smile. "Now, I am hungry, so let’s go and eat first."
"I know a good place in the city. Let’s go," Jibril said as she summoned her Mistysky Aquawind Sparrow.
The bird had a lush and thick furry coat around its neck and back, and darker blue wings.
In terms of width on its back, it was slightly bigger than Pymon.
Both of them got on the bird as Jibril commanded the bird and flew away.
Sitting beside him, Jibril asked, "What do you like to eat?"
"Anything tasty is fine," John said with a chuckle. "I am not picky at all, and I love to try out new things."
’As if I had a chance to be picky when searching for food,’ John internally laughed as he remembered the days when he and Alfred searched for food regularly in the beginning.
"Then I’ll let you try the things that are my favorite first."
"Sounds good."
Jibril’s right hand moved, going towards John’s left hand while he was looking at things.
Suddenly feeling her hand’s touch, John turned to her and blinked.
Jibril’s face became a bit flushed, but she didn’t hesitate and said, "Ki...have you kissed before?"
John’s eyes glinted as he remembered Yuna. ’Well, I wonder how she is doing these days?’
Shaking his head, he looked at Jibgril and grabbed her hand before leaning closer, his grin becoming sharper. "Alright, Jibril. You can stop now. I have a rather high soul sensitivity, so I know you have some underlying intentions. What is it?"
"W-What?" Jibril was taken aback.
Sizing her up, he added. "I must say, though. You are doing very well in roping me in for whatever goal you have. So, what is it? I am curious."
