One Piece: Supreme Check-In System-Chapter 66: Cracks in Justice, Shadows in the Smoke
Chapter 66 - Cracks in Justice, Shadows in the Smoke
Marine Headquarters — Grand Strategy Hall
The grand war room of Marineford's Headquarters was shrouded in tense silence.
On the central screen, a live Den Den Mushi transmission replayed the climactic battle at the Voidreign Arena — Kuina's impossible breakthrough, the fall of the Five Supreme Void Knights, and Jessie's speech to a legion of warriors reborn.
Veteran officers, strategists, and high-ranking marines stood frozen. Not even the sound of breathing dared disturb the oppressive quiet.
Even the battle-hardened former Fleet Admiral Sengoku sat wide-eyed on the room's upper balcony, a handful of grass dangling limply from his pet goat's mouth.
The old admiral let out a long sigh.
"Each of them..." Sengoku murmured, his voice carrying over the silent crowd, "monsters. Every single one."
He turned to Tsuru, the legendary tactician of the marines.
"How the hell did they train an army like that? Even our elite divisions don't have that kind of unified, raw power."
Tsuru, her face lined with age and wisdom, narrowed her sharp eyes.
"It's not just strength, Sengoku... it's will. Every one of those knights would rather die than break formation. That's the difference."
Sengoku grunted, scratching his beard as his goat lazily chewed.
"Hmph. Good thing it's not my headache anymore."
A smirk curled on the old man's lips.
"Let the new Fleet Admiral lose sleep over this."
A chuckle rippled from Sengoku's throat, though it carried no warmth.
Suddenly, a faint rumble echoed through the chamber.

A thin pillar of smoke rose in the distance — from the heart of Marineford itself.
Sengoku's eyes flicked toward it.
"Ah..." he chuckled grimly, "looks like Akainu finally blew his top."
Admiral Command War Room
In a secure command chamber buried beneath Marineford, Fleet Admiral Sakazuki Akainu sat rigid in his chair, cigar clenched between his teeth, smoke curling furiously from his mouth.
Around him, the three admirals gathered.
Kizaru lounged lazily against a wall, hands in his pockets, watching the replay with his trademark half-lidded gaze.
"Ehh~... I don't wanna go on any mission chasing those monsters," Kizaru drawled, his tone as lazy as ever.
He gestured at the screen.
"They made mincemeat of the Five Supreme Void Knights. That's not my idea of a good time."
At the opposite side of the room, Admiral Ryokugyu leaned forward with a predatory glint in his eye.
"Coward," Ryokugyu spat, his face darkening behind his sunglasses. "You were beaten once by Meruem and now you're scared?"
Kizaru smirked lazily.
"I heard you got flattened by a pet panda from their crew. That true? Must've stung."
The room tensed.
Ryokugyu's hand twitched toward his sword.
Before tempers could boil, Akainu's voice snapped like a whip.
"Enough."
The room fell silent.
Akainu's glare could melt iron. The smoke from his cigar thickened as his magma-powered rage barely contained itself.
Admiral Fujitora, sitting quietly with his cane sword resting on his lap, gave a soft sigh.
Though blind, his senses could feel the weight of the battle they'd witnessed through the Den Den Mushi feed.
"To attempt to capture them now... would be suicide," Fujitora stated calmly.
The room turned toward him.
"Their strength isn't what troubles me," Fujitora continued. "It's their people. The civilians in their lands — I saw their faces. Joyful. Unafraid. Free."
His brow furrowed.
"It's no longer a pirate crew we'd be waging war against. It's a kingdom. A cause."
Akainu clenched his fist, his rage barely held back.
"The World Government has sent no orders... not yet. But mark my words," Akainu growled, smoke hissing from between his teeth. "Sooner or later, those monsters will show weakness. They'll make a mistake. And when they do..."
He pointed a smoking finger at the screen.
"We capture or kill every last one."
The magma admiral's voice lowered to a simmer.
"Until then — do nothing reckless. Gather intelligence. Secure allies. The World Government will move soon."
The Calm Before the Storm
Outside the chamber, the seas surrounding Marineford seemed eerily calm.
But the political world had begun to churn.
In taverns, courts, and war rooms across the New World, whispers of the battle spread like wildfire.
The game of power was shifting.
And far to the north, atop the storm-lashed seas, a single warship cut through the waves — the figure of Dracule Mihawk standing silently at its bow, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon.
His hand rested on the hilt of his black blade.
He felt it.
A storm was coming.
