Chapter 174 - 174

The chakra of the Tailed Beasts is composed of two types: the yang-attribute blue chakra and the yin-attribute purple-black chakra. These two chakras are mixed and compressed to their extreme limits inside the mouth, in a yin-yang ratio of 2:8, forming a super-dense sphere. When released in a single breath, it becomes the infamous Bijūdama (Tailed Beast Ball).

Its destructive power is enough to obliterate an entire shinobi village. If not for the Fourth Hokage's Hiraishin no Jutsu (Flying Thunder God Technique) during the Nine-Tails' attack, Konoha would've been long reduced to rubble.

No one has ever dared to block a Bijūdama with their bare body, but there was once a lunatic in the Akatsuki who tried to block it with a decapitation sword. Now? The grass on that guy's grave is two meters high.

So when Aburame Hatsuizumi rushed right up to the Bijūdama, practically touching it, everyone was stunned.

Hatsuizumi didn't have Hidan's immortality, nor Tobi's intangibility. Even Guren's crystal-based spatial control surpassed her in defense. So far, all she'd shown was her terrifying offensive capabilities. How the hell could she block a Bijūdama?

Tobi's eyes were full of disbelief. A perfectly healthy person was just going to die like this. Hidan, however, looked thrilled that Hatsuizumi might bite the dust. Those bugs she used were absolute monsters—his body couldn't handle that kind of torment.

At first, he didn't take them seriously. Ants were ants, right? No matter how many there were, how much damage could they do? Turns out that "limited" damage cost him half his damn body. Now, Hidan was buried in rocks like a turtle, terrified of exposing even a pinky lest those bugs find him again. He looked like a cursed little Three-Tails hatchling now.

A blinding light pierced through the mist created by the Three-Tails. That huge blue-and-purple Bijūdama looked like a second sun lighting up the night—but it never exploded.

Even without the explosion, Hatsuizumi was still hit by the aftereffects. Tobi and the others had been right—she had many ways to attack, but in terms of defense? She was running on fumes.

"Pfft~" Blood spilled from the corner of her mouth and landed on the Three-Tails' massive head beneath her.

But slowly, the reason for the Bijūdama's disappearance became clear. Bathed in the blinding white light, the Three-Tails finally noticed something off about the tiny creature in front of him.

It was a bug—so small you'd miss it if you blinked. But unmistakably, this little black dot was absorbing the Bijūdama.

The Three-Tails was baffled. In its long existence, it had seen all kinds of jutsu—people using time-space ninjutsu to warp away Bijūdama, or even redirect them with other Bijūdama—but never... absorb one.

And this tiny insect? Its appetite seemed endless. It accepted any form of energy without hesitation.

The Bijūdama, once the size of a damn basketball court, visibly shrank. The blue-purple chakra sphere gradually faded until—poof—it vanished entirely, like a lightbulb that had been drained of every last watt.

Blood trailing from her lips, Hatsuizumi laughed softly and caught Chunqiu as he fluttered down from the air. The bug looked temporarily full—his withered wings turning greener as he lay still in her palm.

Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.

"Looks like I won the bet~" she chuckled. Truth was, she had no idea if Chunqiu could really absorb the whole Bijūdama. But that's just the kind of maniac she was. If something sounded interesting, she'd gamble on it every time.

"Guess being a glutton isn't always a bad thing. You're finally pulling your damn weight." This was probably the first time Hatsuizumi ever felt proud of her summon. She used to be jealous of Zixu's little black snake and Hyūga Chinano's Panda summon. Now, Her summon had proved himself.

She landed smoothly on the Three-Tails' head. The beast, having expended everything in the earlier clash, was lying there, panting, nearly spent.

"Boom... boom... boom~" Just its breathing was loud enough to shake the ground. Its one remaining eye locked on Hatsuizumi—filled with nothing but rage and bloodlust.

"Why can't you summons be as well-behaved as mine?" she muttered, thinking about her other pets.

Tuanzi, for example, was obsessed with fitness. Dude worked out all day, muscles rippling like some anime protagonist. He was jacked as hell, to the envy of every gym bro out there.

The little black snake, on the other hand... had gone full couch potato after hanging out with Rosinante. The two were a perfect match—a turtle and a mung bean, both useless. Now that snake was so fat, people might confuse it for a python.

"You're looking at me like you want to kill me, huh? Don't worry, I feel the same. I don't make a lot of enemies, you know... but I guess you're an exception." Hatsuizumi smirked, thinking back to the bugs that had wrecked Hidan. As for Jūshi among them, it wasn't stable yet. Without a constant supply of chakra, it wouldn't last long and posed no real threat.

From afar, Tobi quietly crept over to the boulder-encased Hidan, holding a tiny shovel he'd found who-knows-where. Like a grave digger, he began unearthing his partner.

"Let's go, Senpai. Mission complete. Time to retreat." He didn't wait for Hidan's response, either. The guy was mumbling some nonsense, so Tobi just grabbed a handful of dirt and stuffed it into his mouth. That shut him up.

Guren, having deactivated her crystal shield, spotted the fleeing Akatsuki duo and tried to pursue, pushing her last bit of chakra to catch them. But it was useless—she was dead tired. All she could do was lie there, gasping, watching the enemy disappear into the distance.

Hatsuizumi didn't even spare them a glance. She still had unfinished business.

From her hand, countless white beetles poured out. These weren't chakra constructs—they were real insects she'd bred herself, designed to adapt like crazy. Think of them like Shino's insects, but with unlimited evolution.

The white swarm crawled all over the Three-Tails' armored shell. Once invulnerable to blades and bullets, the spiked hide was now being chewed through like wet paper.

The Three-Tails, completely drained, could only squirm helplessly while being devoured alive.

"Shhh... be quiet." The violet Sage markings on Hatsuizumi's eyes started to fade. Her Sennin Mōdo (Sage Mode) was running out. She funneled the last of her chakra—blended with nature energy—into a final jutsu.

Her fingers pierced into the Three-Tails' bony skull like venomous fangs, injecting nature energy directly.

The petrification began—slow and deliberate—from the head downward.

"There, that's a bit better, huh? Don't worry. It won't hurt for long. Just let yourself be eaten peacefully. I don't know if you can resurrect after dying this way, but hey—I'm curious to find out~"

That smile—chilling and bright—was burned into the Three-Tails' memory.

This woman... wasn't a savior.

She was a demon.

He'd seen many bodhisattvas in his life, but this was his first encounter with the Shinigami in the flesh.

And probably his last.
