Chapter 154 - 154

"Deidara, retreat." Although Sasori was facing an assault from two opponents simultaneously, he still took the time to inform Deidara that the mission had failed and he needed to withdraw immediately.

A troublesome enemy was about to enter the battlefield, making it pointless to linger any longer.

Deidara was struggling. He wanted to retreat, but he couldn't.

At first, he thought this little girl would rely solely on her "toy," but who would have expected her to be ridiculously strong in close combat as well? Especially since she had just summoned a panda—an annoyingly persistent creature that constantly attempted sneak attacks. It was infuriating.

"I'm running low on clay. I need to end this quickly," Deidara muttered. Unlike conventional ninjutsu, his explosive techniques depended entirely on his Nendo (Explosive Clay). Even the most skilled artisan cannot craft without materials. Without clay, most of his attack methods were useless.

Under Zixu's guidance, Hyūga Chinano's Jūken (Gentle Fist) had evolved beyond the standard Hyūga fighting style. Each of her movements was adapted dynamically to Deidara's reactions. If Deidara attempted to keep his distance by using his explosive birds, he was fine—if not, a single strike from her would seal all his tenketsu (chakra points).

"Tch, what an annoying kunoichi. I've failed twice now. Next time, I'll just blow this whole place up, un," Deidara growled, spitting out another batch of grasshopper-shaped clay bombs from the mouths on his palms. These tiny creatures hopped toward Chinano, their movements deceptively cute.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Chinano fired off several precise shots from her small pistol, now finally cooled down from its last use.

"Nothing special," Chinano said disdainfully, her voice drifting into Deidara's ears. The insult made him, already seated on his massive clay bird, abandon any thoughts of retreat.

"Oh? Is that so?" Deidara's pupils contracted to sharp points, veins twitching on his forehead.

"Ha! Hahahaha! You ignorant peasant! I'll show you true art! 'Nothing special?' How dare you say that?!" Deidara, momentarily forgetting his usual speech pattern, still remained atop his massive bird. Despite knowing it made him an easy target, he refused to descend.

Chinano frowned. This guy was talking big, yet running away at the same time. What was he planning?

The moment Deidara reached high altitude, sniper fire locked onto him again. Yet, he ignored it—he only cared about demonstrating his art.

Sasori, observing from a distance, realized something was terribly wrong when he saw Deidara ascending.

Deidara never distanced himself this much unless his explosion was going to be truly massive.

He was getting out of there.

Sasori immediately manipulated his Jiton (Magnet Release) to leave a large pile of iron sand in place. He infused the iron sand with magnetic force using his Kazekage puppet before propelling himself toward the pile of magnets.

Haku, noticing this, attempted to counter with Hyōton (Ice Release), aiming to eliminate the magnetism, but he was a fraction too slow.

As Sasori neared the magnet pile, he used his puppet to exert Jiki Ryoku (Magnetic Force) on himself. Like-charged poles repelled each other, launching him away with terrifying speed—far faster than simple chakra propulsion.

Aburame Hatsuizumi arrived on the battlefield slightly disappointed. After searching the forest for an opponent, she found herself too late to engage.

Meanwhile, high above, Deidara channeled all his chakra and remaining Nendo into creating an exact replica of himself—a Nendo Bunshin (Clay Clone).

The clone was thrown from the sky. As it descended, its body grotesquely expanded, resembling an enormous, bloated figure.

"Whoosh—!" A shockwave rippled outward, carrying something unseen in the air. It was difficult to detect, but something was definitely there.

The sniper and support squads did not remain idle. Even Yamanaka Mizuki from the medical unit threw ninja tools to destroy the clay clone.

However, bullets and kunai alike mysteriously vanished upon nearing the clone, as though they were decomposed into nothingness—eerily reminiscent of Jinton (Dust Release).

Yet, externally, no changes could be seen. It was as if something invisible was swallowing their attacks. The clone's bloated form trembled and swelled ominously.

"Foreign substances detected in the air! Do not breathe—retreat!" Chinano's Byakugan was not just for show. She had immediately seen through Deidara's real trump card.

The air was saturated with microscopic explosive bombs—nanoscopic particles spreading out like spores from the clay clone. Their attacks had merely triggered some of these tiny bombs.

"Tch, those damn eyes," Deidara cursed under his breath. He had hoped his art would be a complete surprise, but the Hyūga had once again foiled him.

"But still..." Deidara sneered. "The spread of this technique is enormous. The nano-scale bombs will enter the bloodstream when inhaled, destroying the enemy from within. Heh, a true masterpiece, un!"

He wanted to stay to witness their agonizing demise. This was what happened to those who disrespected his art.

Faced with this situation, Chinano found no easy solution. The attack radius was too vast; there was no way to eliminate all the micro-bombs. There were simply too many.

Hyūga Chinano gritted her teeth. The only option was to retreat and counter the nano-bombs with large-scale jutsu.

But even that was like trying to drain the ocean with a bucket.

"Ugh, I can't even slack off..." A lazy voice suddenly echoed across the battlefield.

A figure had appeared silently among them— Rosinante. He had arrived unnoticed, so quietly that even the most skilled sensory ninja had failed to detect him.

"Less talking, more doing," Aburame Hatsuizumi snapped. "You're lazy enough already. If it weren't for Zixu's orders, I'd leave you to sleep all day."

"Alright, alright. I'm doing it," Rosinante muttered, barely moving. Yet, something in the air changed.

A dark blue barrier expanded outward from him—a technique known as Seishinkan (Silent Dimension). Within seconds, Chinano, the clay clone, and the nano-bombs were all enveloped inside. Yet, from the outside, nothing seemed different.

The others did not feel much, but Yamanaka Mizuki, being highly attuned to chakra flow, noticed the shift immediately. The air became heavier, chakra circulation felt sluggish. Soon, everyone experienced the same sensation.

Even Deidara.

Sensing an imminent problem, Deidara decided to detonate his masterpiece immediately. The spread was already wide enough.

"Heh! Now experience true art! Behold, admire, and... perish!" He snapped his fingers.

The clay clone melted into a puddle of sludge.

Nothing happened.

"Huh? Kai!" Deidara frowned. He snapped his fingers again.

Still nothing.

This was... embarrassing.
