Mythology Rebooted-Chapter 61 - 58 Three Months Later
61: Chapter 58 Three Months Later
61 -58 Three Months Later
Isabella didn’t stay in Enrold Town for long and bid farewell to Wayne one morning.
True to her word, a combatant only fights and isn’t responsible for cleaning up afterward; the mess of the town had nothing to do with her.
It could fall apart for all she cared; she had to report back to Paris.
Wayne politely embraced Isabella for a farewell hug.
She had grown considerably, and as he wrapped his arms around her, he couldn’t even touch his own fingertips.
Before parting, Isabella exchanged pleasantries with Wayne, suggesting that if he ever passed through the Farak Republic, he might visit Paris, and she would treat him to a big meal as a courtesy of the host.
Dream on.
In a couple of years, when you all raise your hands in joy to welcome the royal forces into the capital, seeking you out for a meal would be like venturing deep into enemy territory.
It would make more sense for you to come over and join us.
Wayne smiled and nodded in agreement on the surface, but deep down he swore that with the recent chaos and turmoil, he’d be crazy to travel far.
He wouldn’t go to Frank, much less Paris.
If he broke his word, he’d be a fool.
The two detectives also left one after another.
Wesley gave Wayne his business card before leaving, indicating that if Wayne still ran the Detective Agency after returning to Lundan, he would be willing to join as an employee.
After Isabella’s departure, Wayne focused all his energy on meditation and learning.
The Elemental Space was stable, with the Four Elements coming to join him every moment, and the progress bar of his life’s constitution steadily rose.
It wasn’t fast, but the steady trickle was absolutely stable, saving him time from having to meditate and capture the Four Elements.
Praise be to the Void Lord, he truly delivers when it matters!
By comparison, the Goddess just looked a bit prettier, had longer legs, a slimmer waist, bigger breasts…
Ha, that’s it.
Turn off the beauty filter and stand her next to the Void Lord, and it’s hard to tell who looks better!
In the Hexagram, Wayne didn’t need to worry about earth, fire, water, wind, or me, the time factor.
Within two or three months, they would be illuminated, and he would have plenty of time to read books and study the fundamental theories.
This was a sure thing!
Wayne, now without any concerns for the future, focused on achieving his immediate goal: making his meditation learn to move on its own.
Elemental Space was an external force, and external forces would eventually be exhausted one day.
Only by being strong oneself, could one adapt to myriad changes.
He hoped to fill his arsenal with more methods to cope with difficulties.
Question: How to fill one’s arsenal?
The answer was simple: Practice during the time others slept.
In one word—grind.
Wayne: Today, I only wish to outwork all of you, or be outworked by you!
————
Time flew by, and three months passed.
July 5th, in a small grove.
Standing with his eyes closed, Wayne breathed evenly, quietly sensing the changes in the natural environment around him.
The earth is wise, the wind has memory; nature is not inanimate.
Every change is a breath.
By calming down and connecting with nature, sensing the rhythm of life in nature, a Mage’s Essence of Life becomes harmonious and balanced.
Wayne, following the knowledge in books, calmed his mind to communicate with nature.
The earth, fire, water, and wind within him reached balance, indicating that his thoughts were also becoming more resilient and focused.
Book: Calm down, I was only speaking metaphorically!
Wayne indeed hadn’t succeeded in conversing with nature, but he was convinced the book was right; nature was not inert.
The inability to communicate was due to his own thinking not being strong enough.
He had to persist in his training.
After mastering the little trick of multitasking, his meditation had learned to move on its own, and unwilling to rest on his laurels, he set a new goal for himself.
To learn to converse with nature, to understand it better through his thoughts, so that his Magic Power could exert greater influence when altering reality.
Wayne faintly realized that nature had an intense desire to express itself; it was a complete chatterbox.
Every time he quieted his mind, nature seemed eager to communicate something to him.
Because his thinking wasn’t strong enough, he couldn’t yet hear nature’s voice.
“No rush, let me grind a bit longer, and then we brothers can sit down and chat at leisure.”
Wayne took a deep breath, ending today’s morning cultivation session.
He strolled through the grove, passing by the shaded path to return to the big villa.
As spring turned to summer, the grove was lush with greenery.
With a flick of his finger, the broken flowers at his feet slowly rose and began to dance in the wind.
“You’re welcome.
That was my footstep just now.”
In the span of three months, Wayne had thoroughly memorized all the basic Magic theories, his memory proving incredibly formidable—he could remember lines at a glance.
Later, the Glamor Lady teacher had several boxes of Magic readings shipped from Lundan to address his lack of experience.
His passion for learning, hard work, talent, and ability to endure loneliness had made his reputation soar in Hefei.
Each time they talked, Hefei lavished praise on him, leaving Wayne only to smile wryly in response.
He had been overpraised; it had been three months, and his Essence of Life still wasn’t full.
It wasn’t that Wayne was incapable; rather, he was too capable.
By depleting the Four Elements, he caused the Elemental Space to collapse, and his Essence of Life was stuck at 95%.
Even with 24-hour non-stop meditation and pillaging, the progress bar barely moved.
It was maddening for someone with obsessive-compulsive disorder to be stuck, unable to move up or down.
Wayne shared this issue with Hefei, who nodded and told her student to relax, indicating that everything was within her expectations.
Three months’ restriction was too harsh, he was already very outstanding.
Wayne rolled his eyes upon hearing this, Hefei was unaware of the Elemental Space matter, so it was understandable for her to make an erroneous judgment.
He had a splitting headache, not knowing where to find another Elemental Space.
“Goddess above, bestow upon me another Void Lord!”
In Wayne’s body, the Hexagram had already lit up three points, which were sky (knowledge), self (thought), and an unwavering die-hard fan of fire.
Earth, water, and wind remained unfulfilled, let alone lit.
It seemed like an eternity away.
Fire, on the other hand, was way ahead, leading the other three elements by two whole minor realms.
If it were any other Mage apprentice, they would have become somewhat neurotic by now due to the imbalance of the Four Elements and overly strong desires.
Wayne had his own difficulties to speak of, his wish for another antagonist from the Goddess was heartfelt, not just talk.
And it couldn’t be just any villain, but one who started at Legend, was out of their mind, and came with their own Elemental Space.
Such villains were not easy to come by, so Wayne prepared himself for a long, hard slog.
Looking on the bright side, Lundan was crawling with Mages, so the reserves of the Four Elements were bound to be higher than in Enrold Town.
Maybe, if he went back and had a good sleep, hey, the Essence of Life would be filled up.
By this time, Wayne’s Magic Power and thinking had reached the qualifying line set by Hefei, it wasn’t an exaggeration to say that he far exceeded it.
The probation magic was already ineffective, and he could return to Lundan whenever he wanted.
However, Veronica kept dropping the ball, and his future father-in-law’s authority wasn’t helping.
Three months had passed with constant promises of “soon,” “almost,” and “just a bit more observation.”
This made Wayne’s opinion of his future father-in-law plummet.
What a letdown, thinking you’re a big shot but not being able to handle a small issue in three months.
“Hmph, good-for-nothing scoundrel.”
Wayne muttered under his breath, careful not to be too loud.
Just then, the phone rang.
The Butler relayed the call, sharing good news with Wayne.
The Glamor Lady teacher had called; she had taken care of the big shot, and Wayne could return to Lundan anytime, but he was not to contact her right away.
He must sneak into Lundan quietly, without alarming anyone.
Not even acquaintances.
Wayne was thrilled, he grabbed Philark and gave him a hearty twirl, then went to the four maids and gave each of them a warm hug of someone about to regain freedom.
Philark laughed and straightened Wayne’s slightly ruffled clothes, reminding him to maintain his manners, sharing adages like “not to be elated by external gains, nor sorrowed by personal losses.”
Wayne hugged Philark, patting him on the shoulder, thanking him for the past three months of care.
There was a hint of sadness on Philark’s face, well-hidden though it was, Wayne knew that with Philark’s talents, staying in this lodge was a waste.
The Butler was very lonely without a master to serve.
Mister Lando seldom came here for a vacation, only once every two or three years, and Philark couldn’t display his talents, which surely caused him some dissatisfaction.
Wayne patted Philark’s shoulder: “When I return to Lundan and have the chance to meet Mister Lando, I’ll put in a good word for you.
You are an excellent Butler and shouldn’t be wasting your talents here.”
Philark was visibly moved, but after a moment, he shook his head: “Young Master Wayne, I’m truly honored by your recognition, but Lady Megan’s talents far exceed mine, she is the finest Butler of the Lando Family.”
Impossible!
Absolutely impossible!
Wayne couldn’t believe it, Philark was in his eyes a one-of-a-kind Butler, the best there was.
Megan, she sounded like some vixen with big breasts and long legs, only able to push Philark out by secretly using some kind of promotion device.
Pfft, where on earth did Veronica find such a sleazy dad!
That night, the Butler lovingly prepared a farewell dinner for Wayne and was invited by him to join for the meal.
The four maids also attended the dinner.
The next morning, the five of them saw Wayne off at the train station.
It was still a luxury train, and the arrival time in Lundan was also in the evening.
After returning to the large villa, Philark picked up the phone and respectfully said, “Young Master Wayne is an exceptional young man, upright, humble, cautious, eager to learn, hardworking, and knows gratitude…”
“He possesses strong morals and ethical standards, treats servants with courtesy, respects teachers and elders, and is willing to lend a helping hand to defenseless innocents…”
“Among all the young people I’ve met, he’s undoubtedly among the very best.”
“Lord Austin, I know what I’m saying, I haven’t been brainwashed, he is truly outstanding.”
“Other strengths…”
“He has a strong sense of revenge toward outsiders, is magnanimous but not overly so, depending on the situation, and is really shameless when he needs to be.”
Philark smiled slightly, adding, “Yes, sometimes even I blush at his actions.”
“Besides, he is very greedy!”
