54 -51: Saint Heir, Are You Serious?

Enrold Town.

At four in the afternoon, the Earth Core Cult headquarters.

The parishioners and townspeople’s enthusiasm showed no signs of waning, with singing and dancing people visible everywhere on the streets, and free eggs still being distributed.

To ensure that every townsperson could enjoy the free egg benefits and to prove that the Archbishop’s words were not empty promises, the cultists drove trucks from house to house delivering eggs.

They announced that at eight that night, the Earth Core Cult headquarters would hold a celebration performance event and also invite newly joined cultists to tour Saint’s Gate.

An underground world truly existed, and the Earth Core Cult had found a passage to it in Enrold Town.

This passage belonged to every fervently faithful cultist, who could pay homage to the Void Lord up close and received blessings from the deity.

In addition, limited quantities of memorabilia blessed by the Archbishop himself were given away for free on a first-come, first-served basis.

The plan was indeed as described, but the Archbishop and four other bishops suddenly left, and the ordinary members, without the authority to take the lead, had to invite the mayor and VIPs to take the stage and give speeches one by one, as no one was there to preside over the meeting.

Bang, bang!

It was a rhythmic sound akin to a heartbeat, faint yet distinctly echoing in one’s ears.

The ordinary townsfolk did not notice anything amiss, and most of the Earth Core Cult members were also clueless, only a few core members knew what it meant.

The Underground King had awakened!

They showed both excitement and confusion as the plan began earlier than expected, and sought high-ranking bishops to oversee the situation, moving around the assembly square like headless flies.

The mayor, who was giving a speech, also heard the sound.

He clearly knew something, the corners of his mouth curving slightly, as he continued his speech with an even more resonant and inspiring tone.

Just then, a wisp of yellow dust floated before the mayor’s eyes.

As he wondered about it, a wave of overwhelming fatigue overcame him, and he shut his eyes, falling into a deep sleep on the spot.

The yellow smoke arose from all directions, some from the gardens, some from the ponds, and as the wind howled, large quantities of yellow smoke were shaken from the trees at the assembly site.

Where the yellow smoke enveloped, the townspeople and cultists, overwhelmed by drowsiness, subconsciously found comfortable positions and fell asleep on the ground.

The wind grew stronger, scattering pollen and expanding until it enveloped the entire town.

Except for five individuals dressed in Earth Core Cult attire on the periphery, almost everyone else had fallen asleep.

These five individuals arrived at the center of the assembly square, cleared an open space, and started drawing a Magic Array Diagram with magical paint on the ground.

They were from Farak Paris and were Mages of the Naturalism Church.

Isabella infiltrated the Earth Core Cult’s nest and discovered an important piece of intelligence, exceedingly precious intelligence that allowed Hefei to break into Lundan’s closed power core and break the cohesive situation, creating an opening as an outsider.

Isabella decisively got in touch with Hefei.

To avoid scaring off their quarry, the latter urgently summoned people from Paris.

Hefei arranged for five trustworthy individuals to secretly arrive in Enrold Town and ensure the success of Isabella’s mission.

The arrival of the five greatly relieved the burden on Isabella.

They were responsible for protecting the townspeople’s safety, preventing the entire town from falling prey to the Void Lord as spiritual sustenance.

At the poultry farm, at the headquarters of the Earth Core Cult, and at the government building, blue pillars of light rose simultaneously the moment the Underground King called out.

The light at the Earth Core Cult headquarters split into four, corresponding to four separate small buildings, with rays stretching out in four directions, echoing with the light pillars rising from the poultry farm and the government building.

A hexagram took shape, projecting a Magic Array Diagram into the sky hundreds of meters high.

A massive tentacle shadow emerged, pointing down at Enrold Town and touching the elemental substances in the air.

The tentacles coalesced into substance, calling out with a lifelike rhythmic breath as they slowly sank.

This was part of the Underground King’s body, calling itself from the deep underground and summoning its children to awaken.

Disaster was imminent, and no one would escape becoming a host to the parasites.

The five Mages were experienced, calmly drawing the Magic Array, four standing at the corners and one in the center, using the Crucifix Star to counter the hexagram.

They were located in the center of the Earth Core Cult assembly site, perfectly positioned between the four small buildings, and their Magic Array interfered with the projected diagram of the hexagram.

Not only were the high-flying tentacles prevented from descending, but the fusion of the two parts of the Underground King’s body was also halted.

The most significant effect was that it cut off the call of the Underground King, ensuring that the eggs remained just eggs and millions of parasites continued to slumber, unable to hatch into the children of the Underground King.

In the sky, tentacles struggled and twisted;

In the deep underground, tentacles were continuously burned by the explosions’ flames, severing themselves repeatedly in self-preservation.

If all went as expected, the town’s people were safe.

At that moment, staggered figures stood up, Earth Core Cultists in white coarse robes walked with heavy steps towards the five Mages.

Their eyes were ashen, the blue-black veins on their necks protruding, tentacles writhing in their mouths, and their hands reached out in front, grasping aimlessly.

The parasites within these followers had already awakened, serving as Archbishop Ivan’s precautionary backup plan.

If the plan proceeded smoothly, these core members of the Earth Core Cult and the townspeople would become spiritual nourishment for the Void Lord; if not, they would mutate on their own and launch a suicide charge against those who disrupted the plan.

Approaching, and then…

Boom!

The five mages appeared indifferent, as the self-destructing followers had not yet come close, when suddenly vines burst from the ground, dragging these unconscious unfortunates into the soil.

There was no saving them; they could only be given a quick end.

A rough count revealed that about three hundred followers, who had first worshipped the Void Lord and were the most devout, had been deceived by Archbishop Ivan and met an untimely death.

————

The mansion far from the small town of Enrold.

Several black sedans stopped in front of the mansion; two bishops stepped out of the cars and, amidst the adulation of the followers, rang the doorbell.

Kent and Melville were high-ranking members of the Earth Core Cult.

Their gaze passed through the tall fence and gate, taking in the mansion and sprawling lawn worth billions, and they couldn’t help but mutter enviously towards the damned rich.

No wonder the Saint Heir was led astray, with this house, this garden, anyone would get lost on the road of life!

If the two high-ranking officials were already green with envy, it went without saying for the followers.

The doorbell rang several times, and the bishops were answered by a loudspeaker behind the door: “The master of the house is out today and will not receive visitors.

Please make an appointment in advance for important matters.

Private property must not be infringed upon; please maintain respect and do not enter without permission.”

“To those who enter without permission, be mentally prepared to pay with your life.

You only live once; please cherish it.”

“Be advised, this is not a warning!”

The loudspeaker cycled through the message in the gentlest tone of Butler Philark, delivering the sternest of warnings.

The two bishops exchanged glances; the Saint Heir was not easy to speak with, and it seemed he had anticipated their arrival, directly opting for a closed-door policy.

The two bishops were in a dilemma, not wanting to offend the Saint Heir nor daring to go against the wishes of the Void Lord.

They instructed one of the followers to climb over the iron fence to deliver the message to the Saint Heir.

“Tell the Saint Heir that we come with respect and have no intention of invading private property…”

Bang!

The follower had just reached the top of the gate when suddenly a gunshot rang out.

A hole appeared in his chest, and without a word, he fell back to the ground.

A light drizzle began to fall, clinging to the white robes of the crowd.

The bishops’ eyelids twitched wildly, and the followers were horrified, retreating for fear that the next one over the wall would be them.

Are you serious, Saint Heir?

We’re all on the same side!

As the two bishops hesitated over whether to leave, the sky above Enrold Town lit up with the Hexagram Array, and massive tentacles descended from the heavens, as if ready to ravage the town into ruins.

“We can’t wait any longer; the ritual has begun.

We must take the Saint Heir back now.

If we do not fulfill the Void Lord’s command, we shall all be punished,” hissed Kent through clenched teeth.

Melville nodded, waved his hand grandly, and ordered everyone back into the cars to forcefully break into the estate.

With that, Kent and Melville each took cover behind the stone pillars on either side of the gate.

Ah, you two aren’t leading the charge?

The followers blinked, not moving an inch.

One of them timidly said, “Bishop, they have guns, sniper rifles even.”

What’s the panic for, it’s just a sniper rifle.

With so many of you, they might not be able to kill all of you by charging head-on!

How can you serve the Void Lord if you are afraid to die!

The bishops could not bear these words; they simultaneously chanted spells to contact the parasites within the followers, compelling them to become infected and carry out a suicide assault on the gates.

With a crash, the iron gate creaked and collapsed, the loudspeaker in the shrubs sputtered under the blast, and the voice became intermittent.

“Life is precious, please cherish…”

“Note…”

“This is not a warning!”
