Chapter 41: Fearless warriors, charge!

"Valkarion, look over there! Those are some huge bats—must be 8-Tier Vampire Lords, right?" LoS_Starlily, with her sharp eyes, immediately spotted them. Hanging silently on either side of the palace entrance were two massive Vampire Lords.

"Take them down!" Ethan didn’t hesitate for a second before giving the order.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Three 8-Tier Energy Elementals flickered through the void and charged straight at the targets.

Boom!

A terrifying wave of blue flames swept across the sky, surging toward the two 8-Tier Vampire Lords with overwhelming force.

8-Tier Energy Elementals were flying units, and they were fast. In the blink of an eye, they were already upon the Vampire Lords, their fists wreathed in roaring flames as they struck down with brutal force.

"Hissss! Hissssss!"

"Hissss! Hissssss!"

The two Vampire Lords let out piercing, agonized screeches as their massive bodies were slammed into the ground. Dark undead energy poured from their wounds as they shrieked in pain, clearly suffering heavy damage.

At that moment, the two 8-Tier Crusaders arrived on the battlefield, flanking one of the Vampire Lords from both sides.

Swish! Swish!

Swish! Swish!

...

A flurry of sword strikes rained down, and before anyone could react, the 8-Tier Vampire Lord was dead.

At the same time, the three Energy Elementals launched another assault, surrounding the remaining Vampire Lord. It barely lasted two more hits before collapsing, utterly destroyed.

"Wait... that’s it?"

LoS_Starlily stared in shock at the scene before her, feeling like she was dreaming.

Two of the so-called strongest 8-Tier units, taken down in mere moments?

Sure, they had the numbers advantage, but this was insane!

It didn’t even make sense.

"Valkarion, what level are you now?" LoS_Starlily suddenly turned to Ethan, her eyes sharp with suspicion.

A thought had just crossed her mind—was Ethan’s level so absurdly high that his attack and defense stats had skyrocketed, making his troops ridiculously overpowered?

"My level?" Ethan rubbed his head, hesitating. "Almost level 40, I guess..."

Obviously, if he told the truth—that he was only level 23—no one would believe him.

After all, his attribute point gains were completely different from regular players.

For non-Epic heroes, leveling up only granted one attribute point per level. But as a Purple Epic hero, he got two per level. If you converted that into regular player levels, it would be equivalent to level 46...

But there was no way he could just say 46, right?

The highest level among players worldwide probably wasn’t even close to that yet.

After thinking it over, he decided to hold back a little and report a slightly lower number.

What he didn’t realize was that his idea of "low" was still absolutely insane to LoS_Starlily and other regular players—even to top-tier talents and elite gamers.

"H-h-h-how much?!"

LoS_Starlily shuddered violently, her eyes widening so much it looked like they might pop out of her skull.

"Y-you’re not messing with me, right? Valkarion, you’re serious?" She stared at Ethan in pure shock, her voice trembling slightly.

As the younger sister of Doombringer—one of the top ten aces of Legion of Shadows—she wasn’t exactly a powerhouse herself, but she knew the rankings of North America’s top players inside and out.

Right now, the highest level player in North America was only level 40.

Even Legion of Shadows’ number one player, their ace leader LoS_Bladesong, was only level 39. Their second-in-command, LoS_Ironfist, was sitting at level 36.

Sure, level alone didn’t completely define a player’s strength, but anyone who had reached such high levels was without a doubt among the top-tier elites. No one would question that.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to grind that high in the first place.

So for Ethan—who looked even younger than her—to claim he was almost level 40?!

What kind of absurdity was this?!

Even if he was exaggerating a little—say, if he was actually level 35, 36, or 37—it was still absolutely insane!

On the Monarch Leaderboard, which ranked the top players across North America, that kind of level would easily place him in the top 30.

Even on the unofficial level rankings compiled by players, he’d still be in the top 100 at minimum.

This was beyond terrifying!

Seeing her reaction, Ethan could only let out a helpless chuckle. Yeah... probably should’ve just dodged that question. The more I say, the worse it gets.

But before he could say anything else—

"ROOOOAAARRR!"

"Who?! Who dares kill my precious pets?!"

A bone-chilling roar suddenly echoed from deep within the underground necropolis.

BOOM!

The ground trembled as several powerful figures emerged from the palace entrance, accompanied by a massive wave of skeletons—hundreds, no, thousands of them flooding out in an instant.

At the same time, Ethan’s eyes locked onto the enemy’s undead hero.

[Ephram]

"A mage-type hero, huh?"

Ethan frowned slightly.

Mage heroes could use magic attacks, which meant their damage output wasn’t limited to just their troops—it also came from their spells. That made things trickier.

Judging by Ephram’s spell list, though, his magic proficiency didn’t seem that high. He only had access to Tier 1 spells, and not a single Tier 2 spell in sight.

Still, Ethan wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.

After all, he had never actually seen Tier 1 spells in action in this parallel world. He had no idea how much damage they could do, or how much of a threat they really posed.

Then, he glanced at Ephram’s army:

Tier 1: Skeleton Soldiers ×1000

Tier 3: Walking Dead ×500

Tier 4: Zombies ×200

Tier 5: Wights ×100

Tier 8: Vampire Lords ×6

Tier 9: Lich ×1

Ethan felt a headache coming on.

No wonder this was a B-rank quest—this was going to be a tough fight.

"Gulp..."

LoS_Starlily, standing beside him, swallowed hard, her face turning pale. Her voice trembled as she asked, "Valkarion, what do we do now?"

"What do we do?" Ethan narrowed his eyes and answered without hesitation, "We fight, of course!"

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The moment he spoke, a large number of Pegasus Knights materialized beside him. His own army now consisted of:

Tier 8: Crusaders ×2

Tier 8: Energy Elementals ×3

Tier 7: Swordsmen ×5

Tier 7: Pegasus Knights ×30

It might not seem like much in terms of numbers, but their high tier more than made up for it.

And most importantly, Ethan’s high attack and defense stats provided a massive boost to all his troops, significantly increasing their combat power.

For example, his Tier 7 Pegasus Knights and Swordsmen, after receiving his stat bonuses, were practically on par with wild, unaligned Tier 8 units.

As for the Energy Elementals and Crusaders?

With his buffs, they were nearly as strong as Tier 9 units!

From the very start, this battle was completely one-sided.

Victory was already theirs!

"Energy Elementals, keep that Tier 9 Lich busy! Don’t give it a chance to launch any ranged attacks.

Swordsmen and Crusaders, flank them from the sides and cut through their ranks! Pegasus Knights, cover them and attack from above. Wipe them all out—leave no one standing!"

Ethan raised his hand and commanded, his voice filled with unwavering confidence.

"Go forth, my brave warriors! Bring me victory!"

"Roar! Roar! Roar!"

"As you command!"

...

With a deafening battle cry, the Energy Elementals, Crusaders, Swordsmen, and Pegasus Knights all surged forward.

Leading the charge, the three Tier 8 Energy Elementals shot through the air like blazing streaks of fire and lightning, heading straight for the Tier 9 Lich.

The Lich was a powerful ranged unit—if left unchecked, it could wreak havoc on the battlefield. But as long as they could keep it pinned down, it wouldn’t be much of a threat.

"Warriors, charge!"

Boom!

The battlefield trembled as the Tier 8 Crusaders stormed forward, their swords gleaming with deadly intent.

With a single swing, one Crusader cleaved through the ranks of Skeleton Soldiers, cutting them down like wheat before a scythe. In mere moments, nearly 200 out of the 1000 Skeleton Soldiers had been obliterated.

Against a Crusader enhanced to near Tier 9 strength, these low-tier undead were nothing more than cannon fodder—completely powerless!

"T-This is insane...!"

LoS_Starlily stood frozen, her eyes wide with shock.

She had seen Tier 8 Crusaders in battle before, but this? This was on a whole different level.

The sheer ease with which they annihilated hundreds of Skeleton Soldiers in an instant—it was almost unbelievable!

"This kind of power... I’ve only ever seen it in Tier 9 units."

Her gaze locked onto Ethan, her mind reeling.

A Tier 8 unit fighting like a Tier 9...?

Just how high were Ethan’s attack and defense stats to make this possible?!

Wait... Could he already be Level 40?!

Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!

But there was no time to dwell on that thought—the battle raged on.

"Fearless warriors, charge!"

The five Tier 7 Swordsmen spread out in formation, their blades flashing as they rushed toward the Tier 3 Walking Dead and Tier 4 Zombies.

Above them, 30 Pegasus Knights soared through the air, providing cover and striking from above.

And then—LoS_Starlily witnessed something she would never forget for the rest of her life.

The enemy forces collapsed like falling wheat.

Hundreds—no, thousands—of Skeleton Soldiers, Walking Dead, and Zombies were utterly helpless against the overwhelming might of Ethan’s army.

In mere moments, the battlefield was littered with the shattered remains of the undead.

Their bodies were torn apart, their bones reduced to dust, their existence completely erased.freёweɓnovel.com
