My Werewolf System-Chapter 1320: The Only Choice
The giant crash into the ground had sent a powerful shockwave that reached both Edvard and Ylva. The rumbling was felt beneath there feat and the power disrubtions between the two had made it so the two of them hadn't even had the chance to attack eachother.
Seeing this, Ylva let out a scream and quickly rushed forward, maybe to try to help Lupus or see if he was okay, but jumping in front of her was Edvard, armored and ready.
"That kid has done more than I ever expected of him," Edvard said. "It seems things have turned around, and now he's the one taking the fight to them. So the least I can do… is get rid of you!"
Although it wasn't going to be as easy as he thought. Ylva quickly turned her glowing energy into crescent-shaped blades instead of her typical spear. She threw them fast, and as they spun through the air, several sharp energy attacks came flying toward Edvard.
He wasn't sure if getting hit or touched by these would have the same effect as the spear, but he didn't want to find out either.
He quickly moved, but could see that the large crescents were tracking him. In the end, he turned around and delivered a powerful punch into the air. The energy from the armor and his blood aura blasted forward, destroying several of the crescent-shaped attacks, including the main one following him.
As he threw the punch, blood dripped from his mouth.
'Crap… I was hurt before by Lupus in that fight. Each of his hits, they're extremely powerful… but… if I can just hold out… if I can just hold out, then it means Gary can win!'
As Gary used Overflow, he was in a head-to-head match with Lupus. Blood was dripping from Lupus' mouth, he appeared to be badly hurt by the attack. Now both of them were swinging their arms at each other.
Gary had been hit hard at the side of his face, but he spun his body and slammed the back of his hand into Lupus, giant shockwaves bursting from every hit.
He then opened his mouth and blasted Lupus with a beam, interrupting his momentum, and followed up with a punch right to the chin. Lupus' body flipped in the air, but he seemed to kick the air itself and launch himself forward, hurling at Gary.
With his large wing, Gary took the hit, feeling Lupus' claws scrape deep into it. Twisting his body and lifting the wing, Gary then punched Lupus, sending him skidding across the ground.
Lupus was hurt, but still fighting, still resilient, especially in this form. And judging by the look in his eyes, he wasn't ready to give up the fight any time soon, even if Gary was winning.
Looking around at the situation, Gary opened his mouth and let out another golden blast. Lupus used both hands to try to break the energy apart, but then something strange happened.
Looking forward, Lupus was confused. Gary was gone.
And it wasn't just Gary. The person Ylva had been fighting, he was no longer in front of her either.
As the two of them looked up, they could see the large wings in the sky, and Gary was seen flying away, carrying Edvard in his arms.
"What are you doing?!" Edvard shouted. "Why are we fleeing?! You were winning the fight against Lupus! We finally nearly got him! We finally were nearly able to take him out!" Edvard yelled.
Gary was soaring through the air at quick speed. He didn't say anything, he was just focused. He flew out of the city rapidly, and just on the highway, he could see it, the others could see him too.
"Hey, it's Gary!" Kai shouted, standing up in the back of the van. "Slow down!" he yelled.
Quickly, Gary swooped into the van, and his wings began retracting into his body. The momentum of his landing caused a loud thud as he crashed into the back of the truck, and his body began returning to normal.
Meanwhile, Edvard had been dropped inside as well. Joy and Blackjack were quick to check on him, looking for wounds, but his body was in good condition thanks to the armor. Although he didn't know what it would be like once he took it off either.
"Did you manage to do it?" Blake asked. "Did you manage to take out Ylva and Lupus?"
There was a soft silence before Edvard answered.
"No… the two of them are still very much alive. I don't understand what happened. Both of us were faring well. We had given it everything we had. We might never get a chance like that again, to just fight the two of them on their own without going through the entire pack.
"Why did you take me away from the battlefield? Why did you escape?" Edvard asked.
Gary had finally managed to push himself up from the floor. He was huffing and puffing, covered in sweat.
"You don't think one of you guys could've tried at least catching me or something?" Gary said as he leaned up against the back of the truck. He looked hurt, his body was aching, and he had next to no energy left. free𝑤ebnovel.com
"I couldn't," Gary answered. "That form I used to fight… it's a temporary form. I would've run out of energy. There would've been nothing else I could do… and they would've got you as well.
"In that moment… knowing my form was going to run out… I knew I wouldn't be able to beat him in time. So I decided… it was best for us to run away." Gary answered, and almost immediately, he closed his eyes, falling asleep.
