My Werewolf System-Chapter 1264: When I’m With Her (Part 2)

The answer that Ylva had given had come as a surprise to Midwak. When the two of them were in the pack, all they wanted to do was accomplish what was best for the pack and live a happy life together.

Midwak never had wishes to take over the pack. The only reason he wanted to take over the Howlers was to get back at Lupus for what he had done. That was it—and it was at that same time he realised the core of his issue.

During this time, Midwak had tailed Ylva quite a bit, staying by her side. He watched her as she visited many of the gardens, along with the Ironfang leaders. Many would make a comment about Midwak—they recognised him after all, and they could smell he was from another pack.

Since he was with Ylva, everyone had given a pass and didn't even question it too much. They were sure that Lupus would be aware, otherwise she wouldn't so boldly walk around with him by her side.

However, during this time, Midwak was noticing something. The way she treated the other pack members, even the Ironfangs—it was as if she was above them. Like a queen coming to greet the others, and they were to be happy just based on her presence there.

She's changed so much… from the time the two of us were together… why does she even want to lead the pack in the first place? Is it really to get back at Lupus? Is it really so the two of us can be together again?

One place in particular that Ylva would frequent was the garden filled with poisonous plants—a section that had been etched out with a large wooden building that she treated as her own.

While the two were in there, Midwak had decided to ask the question that had been playing on his mind.

"Ylva… can I suggest something?" Midwak said.

She was sitting on a chair smiling, thinking to herself. Almost none of her actions matched what he remembered of her.

"What if we didn't have to do any of this?" Midwak said. "Right now, the two of us are together. We're from different packs, but what if we just ran away and continued to live our life together…"

Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.

Honestly, Midwak didn't even know if it was possible. Maybe due to her being Lupus's Luna, the two could always track each other down. Maybe because the two were from different packs, there would be a large repulsion felt if they tried to do anything together. But what he wanted to hear more than anything was her answer—and he didn't want it to be what he expected.

"But then… how would you or I become Alpha?" Ylva stated.

That answer there, of not even considering his thought, said it all to him. Ylva had changed. Although it might be true that she wished to take out Lupus, it was only so she could be in a higher position.

She didn't care about being with Midwak—more so, she cared about the position. And would she settle for any less than a person who was an Alpha? Unless Midwak could climb to a higher position, he couldn't get Ylva.

But even if he could—that wasn't the Ylva that he wanted. So instead, he gulped down his feelings and gave a reply.

"You're right. I was an idiot as usual," Midwak replied.

It was then, as the days continued, Midwak was confused himself—his own feelings, what he wanted to do, what was the point of him being here, and if he could even change the situation.

For now, he had continued to follow Ylva, all the way until he had met both Innu and Blake in the garden. He had run into them first. They were beaten and weak. They looked like they weren't even able to fight.

And moments later, Ylva had appeared as well. At first, she wanted to kill the intruders—they were Altered hunters after all. But Midwak had made a suggestion to her—that it would be far more beneficial for not just her, but the rest of the group, if they were to turn them.

If they could turn them into powerful Werewolves, then it would be to their benefit. If they listened to her, she could get them to challenge Lupus. When he was tired, then Midwak himself could attack.

Hearing all of it, Ylva's eyes lit up. So she captured them and moved them elsewhere. When turning them, she had to make sure that Lupus didn't know exactly what they were to do. She needed to figure out a way to make them loyal to her rather than the pack and the Alpha.

Each time when she tried to turn them, Midwak would come up with something—say something was going on to stop them. He didn't even understand why he was doing these things. What did he care if these two died? They had fought against him in the past.

It was because of them he couldn't get his way. But maybe, because he was so hurt, he just wanted to help others.

——

"And that is the entire situation," Midwak said as he stared at Kai. "You now know the truth. Your friends at the moment are only alive because of me. They are still alive now—captured. With everything going on, Ylva is probably out there somewhere.

"I ventured on my own. It's hard for me to be next to Ylva for long periods of time, and she somewhat trusts me now. But your friends—they're still stuck in that room, and if we don't get them now, they'll be turned and used against you."
