Kai had listened to Midwak speak, staying close to him at all times, ready to attack. Midwak would heal eventually, but he wasn't in the same state he was in before, so there didn't seem to be the same feeling or surge of power like last time.

To be honest, Kai was also waiting, allowing his energy to recover. As he heard Midwak's story, though, he had so many questions.

"So you're now openly telling me that you went with Ylva, the Luna of the other pack, willingly?" Kai said. "All because she stated that she had some type of plan to fight against Lupus, and that's why you're here? Did you think that would be enough to let me just let you go?"

Kai was clearly irritated, and there were several reasons why.

"Why would you even believe her in the first place?" Kai asked. "She is the Luna of another Pack. You say you hate Lupus so much, and yet you trusted her to go against him. It's quite clear they were planning to use you from the beginning.

"I know you're not much of a thinker, Midwak, but you should have at least been able to see that. The fact that they had left someone behind in your place—it was all to slow us down. To stop us from knowing that you were gone. They didn't want the Howlers to get involved. Why would you even believe that woman!

"It's almost as if you wanted to get taken back in by the Lupus pack, and now for some reason they've rejected you. You've come crawling back to just try and use us. Is that the type of man you are!" Kai shouted.

Midwak was grinding his teeth throughout the entire conversation, the anger building up in him.

"I would never!" Midwak shouted. "I would never beg to join the Lupus pack. Don't say stuff when you know nothing—when you know nothing of my past!"

—— Midwak had been part of the Lupus pack from the beginning, for as long as he could remember. He was an original member of the pack and was there before Ruin City had even become a thing.

He was there at the start of the big change that was occurring within the Pack, as Lupus was the current Alpha, and he was training his Werewolves to become warriors.

Midwak, like many of the Werewolves, was happy. Frustrated with their situation, having to always stay in hiding from others and not freely among them to use their powers.

Especially with the current time of Altereds running loose in the world. Many of the local gangs and groups even had their eyes on Ruin City, and because of that, Lupus had started a program to train his Werewolves in combat.

He evaluated them himself, training their power. They had used most of the ruins of the castle to train. It had become an off-limits area for the local people—no longer a tourist attraction like it was before.

Walls had been built up around it, and inside there were large grounds with bricks, training halls, and other supplies for them.

Outside, Lupus was watching his fellow pack members fight against each other in pairs. They hadn't transformed as they were battling with their bare fists, doing what they could to beat the other.

"Partial Transformation is now allowed!" Lupus shouted.

The pair of Werewolves transformed their arms. Some chose to transform their legs as they continued to fight, and Midwak was among them.

"Werewolves' physical powers are what make us different compared to the others. Our stamina, our pure strength—this is what we need to focus and build on. To become an unstoppable force, an army that never quits!" Lupus shouted, while Garlack was standing, going through the crowd.

He had a little notebook, and based on the qualities he could see in each individual, he would place a small note down. What he was writing was what he believed each Werewolf was suited to be.

At the time, Garlack didn't call them Classes but instead Werewolf types. After seeing their potential, they needed to be trained a particular way to suit their types, and once they advanced enough, the Werewolf could go through an almost evolution.

"Full transformation—show everything you have!" Lupus shouted.

The Werewolves continued to fight each other, hitting as hard as they could, eager to grow stronger and eager to show Lupus what they had. In the end, there were those that were victors and those that had caught the attention of Lupus.

"You!" Lupus said as he walked through. The Werewolves that were defeated weren't dead and were currently receiving treatment from another group of pack members.

As for the victors, they were standing strong and tall.

"You did well. You have talent—I can see that. What is your name?"

"My name is Midwak," the man answered.

"Midwak, keep up the good work. I have my eye on you. If you make it, then maybe you will become one of my Ironfang warriors that I am training, to bring us into a new era."

Hearing those words lit a spark in Midwak like no other, and he willingly bowed. "Thank you. I will do my best to not disappoint you."

The training for that particular group was done for the day, and they were allowed to rest. They would leave the ruins to head to their homes for the night, ready to train more the next day and go through everything they needed as a pack to help Ruin City expand.

Midwak was tired from all of the training. He often even trained before he went to spar with the other pack members, but his excitement spurred him on. When he got home and opened the door, he couldn't wait to share his excitement.

"Oh, you're back. I just brought us back a load of food, but I thought you would still be training."

"Haha, it's a good day. I think Lupus is finally starting to see just how talented I am," Midwak explained. "I think good things are coming to both of us soon. I can feel it, Ylva."
